Hi Mike, i'm also trying to trace Dodds in Wigtown. My GG Grandfather was Barnet Dodds Born in Ireland and have tracked him to Penninghame, Wigtownshire. Below is the 1851 & 1861 census with his name and his father 7 mother Barclay & Agnes who i am trying to find out more about, I have Barnet(Bernard) Dodds marriage and death dates but just know he was born in 1845.

Barnet married Barbara McNeillie and moved to Kilmarnock and then Ayr, My G Grandfather Barclay Dodds was born in 1872 in Kilmarnock and he married Jane Dickie, they in turn had my Grandfather Barclay Dodds in 1904 who married Margaret Collins who had my father James Collins Dodds in 1932. So thats where i have got to so far. If any good to you let me know.
