I have a little information that might help you. Joseph Dods married Polly Wallace (Wallice) 6-17-1819 in Gallatin, IL. According to his will Joseph Dodds died in Jan. 1831. His wife Mary Dodds, brother in-law Jesse Green, and two Hicks Isaac and William were listed. Mary Dodds and Jesse Green were the administrators. The 1830 census for Jefferson county, IL list's a wife (Polly) and five children. I between 10 and 15 female (?) 1 under 10 male (William) 1 under 10 female (Amanda) 1 under 5 male (John) 1 under 5 female (Mary J.). Polly Dodds (who also went by Mary) married James Quinn 11-25-1832 in Jefferson countyy. He was about 23 years older than her and a widower. They were the parents of two daughters. William Dodds married Mary Eades 9-18-1834 or Nancy Wood 12-27-1840 in Jefferson Coo., Amanda Dodds married James Hicks 2-9-1837 Jefferson countyy. John Dodds married Lucy Emeline Keller 10-20-1842. Mary J. Dodds married W.A. (Willis) Keller 1-27-1846 in Jefferson countyy. I have not been able to figure out who the oldest daughter was or if she died before 1850 or if she ever married. I found John Dodds (Joseph's brother) on the 1840 census with two extra children I could not account for, now I think they may have been Joseph's two youngest John Dodds Jr. and Mary Jane. On the 1870 census for Jefferson county. Mary Quinn 70 is living with John Dodds Jr. and Emeline. Don't take all this as gospel. I am still researching like you but thought it might give you some clues. I am related on the John Dodds Sr. side, they moved to Iowa in 1851.
