i just stumbled on this query and wonder what headway you have made in putting together the Dodge family. I am the 4 great-granddaughter of Joseph Seaver and Sarah (aka Sally) Dodge. My interest has been peaked by a recent attempt to prove lineage for the DAR to Mary Rush Frey (Sarah and Joseph's farm neighbor and in-law in Reynold's IL). My searches have been quite difficult and so i'm very curious about a book you mention re: Joseph and Sarah. Also, i have a photo that i believe is Joseph and Sarah, inherited from my great-grandmother.

I am looking for the parents of Catherine Dodge who was born on Block Island, RI in 1797. She was married to Eseck Steere and then to his brother Cyrus after Eseck's death. Her death was in East McDonough, NY in 1874. Many family trees on this site list her parents as Francis Dodge and Catherine Williams with no source (other than family trees) listed. I have been trying to solve this mystery for years. Thanks.

I'm married to a Dodge and we have the Dodge Family of New Shoreham, Rhode Island : A Genealogy of the Descendents of Tristram Dodge, by James Bailey and Norman Dodge. I did a search through both volumes and could not find an Edward Dodge with those dates.

Not much help, but may at least eliminate one line.

"Mr. Dodge ... had served as court bailiff under Sheriff Pat Byrne for several years, and in 1931 was a civil deputy and later deputy jailer under Sheriff William Holcombe."

Edward Dodge is still a mystery, I only know the year he was born and the date of his death, and names of his three wives. I do however have a quite a bit of information on Rosalie, and her parents and siblings. I will send you names and dates to your email if that is alright with you. Do you just want Rosalie's parents names only or would you also like her siblings names?

Our family has picture similar to the one you described. She is wearing a large hat with a white band across it with the bow tied to the left of the hat. Her right hand goes to her lower chin. She is sitting on a wooden "U" shaped seat. To her right there is an urn and a painting of plants can be seen to the right of the urn.

On our picture it identifies the lady as Clara Augusta Cullins, but my grandfather's brother (William Percy) married a Clara Augusta Dodge.

I have a picture/postcard with a picture of a couple on the front. Their names are Lillie VANLANDINGHAM & Will DODGE. It is addressed to Miss Emma Lester, Weatherford, Okla. The message says: "Girlie do you know these guise! (sic) How are all getting along. Brother is at Stilwater going to school now. Oh! I have such a cold I cain't (sic) hardy (sic) live.

There is no date, either hand written or preprinted, on the front or back of the card and there is no stamp, so it was never mailed. I'm researching LESTER - but not VANLANDINGHAM or DODGE. I just thought someone else out there may have a VANLANDINGHAM / DODGE connection. Thanks for listening.

Nancy Ann Dodge, widow of the late Thomas Dodge, died yesterday morning at 11 o'clock of general debility. The deceased was born August 13, 1808, in West Virginia, being 91 years and 22 days old. The funeral services will be held at the late residence In Oxford township, tomorrow morning at 10:3 o'clock, after which the remains will be interred beside her husband in the cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Dodge moved to the farm in this township in the year 1849, where continued to live up to the time of their deaths.

AGED WOMAN DIES
Miss M. Dodge Almost Eighty-six Years Old,

An Aunt of Mrs. D. Hennigan and a resident of Woodland Twenty-seven years.

Miss Maria Dodge died about 6 o'clock this morning in the lodging house in the Prior block. She was a native of West Stockholm, St. Lawrence county, New York, where she was born on February 16, 1819. She therefore lacked but a few weeks of being 86 years of age. She complained to no particular ailment, but was in failing health for more than a year.

Deceased came to California with Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Hennigan 27 years ago, and her home was In Woodland with them ever afterward. Mrs. Hennigan, her niece is her only known relative in California.

She was of a very quiet and retiring disposition and therefore her circle of acquaintance was not very large. Nevertheless, those who knew her speak of her good qualities and many virtues In the highest terms.

The funeral will be private and will take place from the Prior lodging house Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Hi Shawn, I am the Registrar for the local chapter of DAR and I'm helping a client who wants to join DAR and also prove that Samuel Harmon was a Patriot in her family. She has proof of each generation that is needed except for the generation that proves that Elizabeth is Samuel's daughter and I have not been able to establish legal proof that she is. National DAR will not accept her information without this information. Do you have any legal proof that you could send on to me. I would appreciate it so much. Thank you.

Hi Marie, I haven't worked on this family lately. I have the following in my notes that might point you toward other records. I'm guessing that the cited 1838 Revolutionary Claim records would be useful to you. "Samuel Harmon (Naphtali, John, John, James), b. June 24, 1751, York, m. Lucy ____. He enlisted for three years in the Revolution in Aug., 1777, in Capt. William North's Co., Col. Henry Jackson's 16th Mass. Regt., and was promoted to corporal Sept. 1, 1778. After the Battle of Lexington, he enlisted for 8 months in Capt. Joshua Bragdon's Co., of Wells, in Col. James Scammon's Regt., of Saco. He enlisted from Sanford. He was in the Battle of Bunker Hill, and enlisted for a 2d time for 2 months, and was stationed at Roxbury. He was also in the Battle of Monmouth and that of Brandywine. He served 3 years, and d. June 3, 1837, leaving several children. He was a pensioner and his claim was paid to the surviving children in 1838. In 1820, he lived in Dixmont, Me., where he died. In 1772, he was one of the founders of the 1st Baptist Church of Sanford. "Samuel and Lucy Harmon of Township No. 2, Hancock Co., Me., land to Robinson Whiting. Deed, dated Nov. 23, 1810." Quite a few years ago I found a cabinet card photograph marked "John, Jennie and Julie Dodge of Medford. Cousins" taken at the F. H. Hull studio in Medford. It looks to be taken around 1900.

I've done a little research into the family on Ancestry and I believe these are the children of Warren and Delia Dodge of Medford, Oregon.

John M. Dodge was born Aug 1878. He married Mary ?? and they had two children, Steven J. Dodge, and Dorothy M. Dodge.

Jennie Dodge was born 1885/6 and married Ransom P. DOPP (b. 1873 Kansas). They had one daughter, Florence DOPP Cowden who lived in Willows, California.

Julie Dodge b. Mar 1885, Iowa, married Eugene DOW b. 1879, Vermont.

Warren and Delia had another daughter, Ella Dodge, who did not appear in the portrait.

I'm looking for any information about Rhoda Dodge. She married Ezra Backus, lived in Norwich, Connecticut. I have so much information about all my relatives in that area, but I can't find anything about *this* Rhoda Dodge.

There is another Rhoda Dodge who was born about 10 years earlier in the area, but I can't find my Rhoda in any Dodge families.

I'm wondering if "Dodge" was a married name. She married Ezra when she was about 25. Was she married to a "Dodge" earlier?

He moved to California and worked in the shipyards in Alameda, CA for a while. Later, he married Ethel Louis Hurst (b. Ohio), and worked in the shipyards in Southern California while living in Torrance, CA. He built a cabin in the Big Bear mountains area of Southern California -- during the mid 1940's. He and Ethel later moved to Grass Valley, CA, which is in the Sierra Nevada foothills -- not far from Napa.

-I am under the assumption that her mother lived on an Indian reservation in Canada but am unsure of her which one. I believe its the Munsee. Our Family is Chippewa/Potawanomie and my GG Rose would be 100%.
Having a hard time tracking information because Of Indian records.. I'm pretty new to the family search but am trying to establish my Indian heritage and Information is hard to come by because of Deaths and no one else knowing information.

Bolivar — Donald R. Dodge, 58, of 7171 Kossuth Road, Bolivar died Friday (April 29, 2011) at home following a short illness.

He was born in Wellsville on May 18, 1952, the son of Walter and Jane Richards Dodge, Jr.

A life-long resident of the area, he was first employed as a mechanic for Hetzels Motors in Wellsville until and health forced his retirement was employed at Dresser-Rand in Olean.

He was a graduate of the class of 1971 at Wellsville High School.

He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Dodge and Heidi Dodge, both of Wellsville; two grandchildren, Kamron Dodge and Jade Black; two sisters, Bonnie (William) Schultz and Connie Dodge, both of Wellsville; and one niece and one nephew.

He was also predeceased by his parents and a granddaughter, Kymberly Dodge Grayson.

Friends may call at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., when services will be held.

Burial will be in the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Bolivar.

Memorials can be sent to the SPCA Serving Allegany County or the American Cancer Association.

Hi. I'm a little stuck.

I cannot seem to find any reference to parents or siblings for Porter Dodge. He was married to Azubah Ann Hunt (b. 2 Oct 1828) of Georgetown, ME, but I don't believe he was born there. Porter and Azubah had at least 3 children: Nancy (b. abt 1854), Victoria Adelaide (b. Feb 1860) who married Bradford Newdick and moved to Massachusetts, and William P (b. Dec 1861) who married Margaret R Kelly.

I've seen some older Porter Dodges, but I'm not sure if there is a relation. Does anyone have any hints to any family of my Porter Dodge?

Jesse is my GGG Grandfather. I am very new at this and just beginning my research. I have Jesse Dodge b1805 in NS. I show him as child to Ruben Dodge b1794 and Catherine A. Dodge (this was her maiden name) b1793. This would make Ruben and Catherine 11 or 12 when Jessie was born. Is it possible Jesse was born to another of Benjamin and Tabitha's children? I am showing other children as Esther, Ruth, Susanna, Benjamin (Knowlton Dodge), and Ruben.
I'm also getting tangled at Jesse in regards to Catherine who is daughter of Captain John Dodge ( who I have also found Perkins mentions) and his 2nd wife Jane Wood. John Dodge's parents being Ruben Dodge and Ruth Perkins.
Does anyone else have this happening at Jesse or could shed some light on the knot I seem to have made for myself. I keep going over and over information doing searches and seem to just create a bigger mess. I know this post is old, but I am hoping someone has some light to shed.
I am willing to share any information I have that someone may find helpful to them as well. Thanks so much.

Seeking information on my great-grandfather Roy R. NEWELL (b. November, 1882 d. December 1946). He is the father of my grandfather Elmont W. NEWELL (b. 2 March 1927 d. 6 October 2010).

Roy (who may have gone by his middle name Ralph) was born in Kennebec County, Vassalboro, ME. He later moved to the town of Industry in Franklin County, ME, where my grandfather Elmont was born.

Ralph NEWELL was married to my great-grandmother Cordelia G. DODGE (b. 6 January 1905 d. 17 September 1966). Both of them resided in the town of Industry until their deaths.

I have been researching my maternal grandfather's side of my family. I have conflicting birth dates ranging from 1898 to 1902. As far as I can tell his father was Oscar H Dodge whose father was Warren Dodge. However, the lineage backward isn't what I'm most curious about. He and my great-grandmother split soon after my grandfather was born. I'm curious to know what happened to him afterward. Supposedly he fathered at least one more child (Perry?). He died March 17, 1939. Its a long shot, being so close to present date, but I wondered if anyone here had any info on Charles Lyman.

I have been away from genealogy a long time but I did wonder what happened to Elizabeth's son with her first husband and I had thought he stayed with the Meredith family. I seem to recall that the husband was killed in a local train accident that was notorious at the time. I will have to dig around & am trying to get my father to find everything my grandmother collected organized. At Christmas I was reading a diary that Elizabeth wrote in Manassas a few years before she died.
Anyway, I will try to get my stuff posted.

LaSalle County,Illinois directory 1877 for Osage Township on page 423:
M.Dodge farmer and stock raiser in sec 24 with post office Wenona,Ill., born in New Hampshire Aug 29 1801, came to LaSalle county in 1857, owns 120 acres land valued at $9,600; married Oct 1 1830 to Hannah Tabor of Eastport Maine, she was born July 18 1813; second marriage to Sidney Ann Abbott Aug 17 1860, she was born May 24th 1806 in Virginia; 3 children Daniel born 1831, William born 1833, Rodney born 1841; first wife died SEpt 23 1857, one of the oldest settlers in Osage Township,Illinois.

Ada is pictured in the 1919 Aegis, yearbook of the January 1919 class of Central High School in Houston, and is a senior. I'm not kin but thought this might help someone researching the family.

I'm looking for photos of Alice Elizabeth Dodge, born April 1866 in Illinois and died 1947 Iowa. She Married Joseph Calaway Vandagriff. Pictures of him would be great too. I have none and would appreciate any you guys have. Thanks!

Unfortunately, I can't offer any additional information on Israel Dodge. I do have a Julia Dodge (~1836-1863) who is listed in the 1850 Belfast Academy Grant census as having been born in Strong, Maine. My information suggests she was married to my g-g grandfather, William H. Chase. Does this information accord with yours?
