Hello Nicola / Nicky
I have just read your message with interest as I am trying to locate the birth/baptism record of my 4x Gt Grandmother - Elizabeth DOIDGE.
The details I have on my Elizabeth are as follows.
She was living in the Brentor parish when she married John BRIMACOMBE, who was living in the Coryton parish, on 31 December 1807. A witness to the marriage was a Richard DOIDGE. John and Elizabeth lived in Coryton where they had 3, and possibly 4 children. The children I am certain of are;-
Joanna bapt 25 March 1810
William (my 3x Gt Grandfather) bapt 19 September 1813
Elizabeth bapt 25 August 1816
Elizabeth (DOIDGE) BRIMACOMBE died in August 1825 and was buried in Marystowe on 17 August 1810. Daughter Elizabeth died in the September of the same year and was buried in Marystowe on 12 September 1825. Also noted in the Marystowe Church records is a burial record for a Charles BRIMACOMBE on 12 July 1825, aged 7 or 17years. This is too much of a coincidence, and I believe he is a further child of John & Elizabeth. There is no baptism record in Marystowe for a Charles BRIMACOMBE. I have yet to recheck the Coryton records to see if his birth/baptism is recorded there, to confirm he is there child.
I am hoping that you will have further information on the fate of your Elizabeth DOIDGE, which will help confirm or deny that my Elizabeth is your Elizabeth. The one detail which makes me feel that they are one and the same person is the fact that she had a brother Richard. This is the first family I have come across where there is so.
I look forward to hearing from you.
