John, Good to hear from you again. The Philip Dom we are descendent of lived in Wellersburg, Pa. According to the Somerset Herald, August 28, 1872, Philip died 22 August 1872. Philip was married to Margaret Gearhardt. I have a reproduction of a map of Wellersburg dated 1876 showing two Mrs. Dom's on Main Street. One of the two listed at a hotel and the other next to it. I believe Margaret is the one at the hotel since Philip was an Inn Keeper.

I don't have a lot of information, but here it is. Oliver P. Dom was my great great grandfather, he married Hanna Lepley in Elerslie, PA and had four children, Clara, Edith, Evelyn and Lilliam (my great grandmother who was born on 12/31/1855 in Wellersberg, PA). My records don't show a child named Oliver, but the fact that your Oliver's middle name is Hannah, which was my Oliver's wife's name leads me to believe that there is a connection. I also know that Oliver P. Dom's father was Philip Dom who was born in Germany and died in 1872 and his mother was Maragret Gearhard. They had four children, Oliver, Henry, Ella and Joshia. Please let me know if this helps and/or if you have any other information on the Dom's.

I think I know them all.

Also, Your list and my list of Oliver and Hannah Lepley's children is slightly different.

Do you have any photos of Oliver Dom Sr. I think I have one, but I'm not certain. The lady that owned it said she thinks it is.

Be looking to hear from you,
Ray

Oliver Philip Dom Sr. is my GG Grandfather. I list 10 children. They are as follows: Clara, Henry Theodore, Herbert, Jessie, Lillian, Oliver, Parker, Thomas John, Tina, and Nelle.

Henry Theodore was married twice. First to Mary Lowery and lived in Bedford. Henry had two children with Mary Lowery. They are Mary Lou and Bertha.

Henry's second wife was Bettie C. Henry. They had twelve children. They are as follows: Edith Hannah, Emma, Jessie May, Marion Lee, Unnamed child, Winnie, Grace Marie, John Oliver, Ruth Flornell, Henry Theodore Jr., George, Helen ( died at 10 years of age).

I am a grandson of John Oliver Dom.

The only data I have of Oliver Jr. is that he died after 1929 and his wife's name was Bowden.

Forgive me for being so excited, but for most of my life I was not aware of any Doms or descendents. As a kid I thought the only existence of Doms was my immediate family and grandparents. Its nice to hear from another Dom.
Hi Nancy,
I've lived in Johnstown, Pa. most of my life. Just recently moved to New Castle, Pa. I began finding out how right you are about being scattered around. Can you help me with a question. My G Grandfather (son of Oliver SR.)was born in Dixon, Illinois. I'm not sure when but moved to Williamsport, Pa. then to Bedford, Pa. Do you have any info about Oliver Sr. living in Illinois. Oliver Sr. died in Meyersdale, Pa. and is buried there. Could you tell me where Dawson, Pa is, I can't find it on any recent maps. Henry Theodore was born on 1 Nov. 1857. I hope I'm not being a best.

Thanks Nancy, I found out later it was in Fayette County. Henry Theodore was born in Dixon, Illinois. The 1910 Census shows his mother Hannah living with her son-in-law William H. Klingaman. Jesse, Hannah's daughter and Henry's sister isn't mentioned. Oliver wasn't mentioned either. They were living in Meyersdale, Somerset County.

Hi Nancy and thanks.

I've been working on Ross Miller lately. I know he married Dessa Belle Dom from information you have, but I have no other. A news paper clipping I have lists him and his wife attending a 50th Wedding Anniversary their children, Raymond, Rita Mae, and Ross Jr. in 1936 and states they are from Bedford County. I'm about 75% complete with the 1920 Census for Bedford County, but I haven't found him yet. I have a sneaking suspicion he was living across the border in or near Ellerslie, Md. at the time. I'll keep trodding. I should be done with the county in a couple of days.

Ray

I am a descendant of Henry Theodore Dom, a son of Oliver and Hannah. Oliver and Hannah are buried in Union Cemetery, Summit Township, Somerset County, Pa. This cemetery is just outside of Meyersdale, Pa. There are many Dom's buried there. Oliver was born on 12 Sept. 1831, Christen on 19 Dec. 1831 at the Berlin Lutheran Church and died 27 Jun 1905. Before his death he was a Justice of the Peace in Ellerslie, Maryland. Hannah was born 30 Nov. 1934 and died 29 Mar. 1915. She lived with her daughter, Jessie, married to William H. Klingaman, as early as 1910.
I have no information at this time about Hannah's parents.
My great grandfather Henry was born in Dixon, Illinois in 1857, as there has been several Dom's born there. Oliver's father(Philip) and Uncle (Baltzer) moved to Hamilton County, Ohio before 1860 after they both lost their wives. Philip was married to Margaret Gerhardt. I'm figuring that Oliver went with them and then moved further west to Illinois. Oliver obviously didn't stay and moved back. Henry came back via Williamsport, Pa. before settling in Bedford County. Henry then moved to Meyersdale, Pa. after his second marriage and then to Johnstown, Pa. in 1889. Sorry for being so gabby, I just love talking about this stuff. If you'd like, you can email me direct at ray_dom@msn.com

Ray

John was born 1865, Albert was born 1870, Peter Dom was born 1834, and Hendermilka was born 1829. Do any of these names fit in with anyone's tree?

Oliver was an engineer on the BB Railroad. He loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and their games could always be heard playing loudly when we visited with him in the years prior to his death in June 1954. His children were: Bessie Hannah(My maternal grnadmother), John Dom (twin of William who died at birth),George Dom ( who died with TB), Evelyn Bowden, Dessa Belle, Roy, Kathryn Bertha, Helen, Leonard Oliver, Josephine Charlotte (she died just a few months ago at age 89)
There are many Dom descendants from O.P.
Dom - Pa

I'm looking for information on the Dom family in Pa. My great grandmother was Lillian Dom (1855-1941) married to John Meese. They both taught at California State Normal. They had two children: Hugh and Sara Helen. Lillian had 12 siblings: Herbert, Henry, Clara, Tina, Thomas, Parker, Oliver, Nell, Louis, Jessie, Evelyn and Edith. Her parents were Oliver Dom and Hanna Lepley. Please reply if you have any information on this family past or present.
