Mr. Domangue,

I am interested in either obtaining a copy of your book or finding out what library has the book in Louisiana so I can try to get it through my local library. I am a descendant of a Dominguez from Puerto Rico, but I believe this family may be related to your family. The name of my ancestor is Diego Dominguez Candelaria, son of Jose and Agustina, and he was from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Any help on how to obtain your book I will appreciate it.

Cesar Zapata
czapata@yahoo.com

I am researching my husbands family. They are from the New Iberia/St.Martinsville area of Lousiana.Their surname is DOMINGUE but some older family members have spelled it with an "s"(DOMINGUES).My husbands' grandfather was LULEY DOMINGUE son of LOTAR DOMINGUES son of FELECIAN DOMINGUES.
So far I've found that they are decendants of AUGUSTIN DOMINGUEZ from the Canary Islands but that's where I hit a brick wall.
Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

Thank you,
Kimberly Domingue

Allie Domangue was my grandmother's (Aline Domangue Picou) brother. Their parents were Joida Domangue & Armontine Bergeron Domangue. Aline lived with her husband Milze Picou in the first house, Grandma & Grandpa lived in the front part of the house owned by her granddaughter (Gloria Picou Bexley, Aline's daughter) and we (my dad was Aline's oldest child Russell Picou) next door. The family spelled their names both ways some are Domangue while others are Domingue. If you send me your email address (theallemands@att.net) I can send to you two pictures of the family that I have.

Roger, It is no doubt a long shot, but I'm at a dead end.

There was also some confusion as to whether our Joseph may have come from Massachusetts, although I have no idea where.

Do the dates fit? Our Joseph was in Missouri by about 1841, and I'm guessing he was born circa 1820. What can you tell me about your Joseph?

I hope to hear from you.

When I read what you wrote it really hit home because I was always told that my Great Grandfather Joseph Ostiguy came down from Canada with one brother. He was definately French Canadian. I know that he may have moved around a bit. He owned one or two farms near Old Furnace Ma. I'm not sure about his brother. I do have a bit more info. if you're interested. Thank you

Arthur Ostiguy Domingue

Hello all,

I am looking for the birth of Arthur OSTIGUY dit Domingue (married to Célina LACHANCE), son of François Xavier & Adélaïde ROBERT dit Boulay.

According to St-Évariste-de-Forsyth's Church registry, he would have been 28 years of age when he died on September 26 1872 (which would mean he was born in 1844). However I have been unable to find any concrete information.

Some websites state his birth year in 1842 or 1838.

I have checked St-Césaire's church registers page by page on Ancestry.ca and FamilySearch.org for years 1838, 1840-1845 where I found his siblings born during those years but without any luck.

I checked St-Césaire because all of those siblings born around that time where born/baptised there.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Mario Domingue
descendant of Dominique Ostiguy dit Domingue
mdomingue@canada.com

Hello Charles,
I am taking a chance of replying to one of your old post. I have gotten back into my research and I was doing great finding BMS from the old church registers, but I have been unable to find the Birth of Arthur Ostiguy/Domingue (I did find his M & S records).

According to his death record, he was 28 when he died, which would put his birth in 1844. Other websites state his birth being in 1842 and one even 1838. I have checked the St-Césaire's church registers page by page on Ancestry.ca and FamilySearch.org for years 1838, 1840-1845 but without any luck.

Hoping this get to you... looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Mario Domingue
mdomingue@canada.com

Would you or your father have any additional information?

All we know at this time is that Arthur and Yvonne married in Quebec. They married 21 June 1921. Hopefully both would be in a family home in 1920, 1910 giving some indication of who their parents may have been. I have forwarded your note to a Carreau family member, hopefully you will get some information. Thank you for your inquiry.

Michel Carreau married Sophronie Bussiere 6 May 1895
La Rochelle, Shefford, Ouebec, Canada. His son Wilfred Carreau b. 6 Oct. 1896 married Marie-Marguerite Auclair, she was the daughter of Cleophas Auclair and Julie Bolduc. Wilfred Carreau's sons moved to Manchester, New Hampshire and that line is still living in that area. Children were David, Wilfred Edward (Eddie, had a bad leg.),Richard, Arthur and a daughter Yvonne Carreau that marrie Arthur Bessette 21 June 1921, La Rochelle, Shefford, Quebec, Canada. Interested in getting further back with this Carreau family. I am thinking that Wilfred and Marie-Marguerite also moved to Manchester, New Hampsire.
David Carreau married Lillian Chandonnet in New Hampsire.
I am working this family for my niece who married into the Carreau family of New Hampshire. Would love to share and receive information.

Their daughter 1) Marie HERNANDEZ married Sosthene MARTINEZ (Sebastian Sosthene MARTINEZ) on June 19, 1848 in Lafayette, Louisiana.; and their daughter 2) Marcelite Dominique HERNANDEZ married Jean Livaudais MOUTON on 27 December 1865 in Lafayette, Louisiana.

I am hoping someone who sees this message can give me more information. I descend from Marie HERNANDEZ and her husband, Sosthene MARTINEZ [Sebastian Sosthene MARTINEZ].

I am also trying to learn the parents of Pierre HERNANDEZ (also found as Pedro HERNANDEZ).

Thanks.

Judy

some headstone transcriptions > Carencro, Louisiana

On a recent trip to Louisiana, I transcribed and photographed a few headstones in the Catholic cemetery in Carencro, Louisiana. I posted those transcriptions and copies of the photos on the FINDAGRAVE.COM Website beginning at:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=...

Where appropriate, I added CENSUS data and other information about those families to some of the pages.

The MARTINEZ, who's headstones I transcribed and photographed, descend from Sosthene MARTINEZ [Sebastian Sosthene MARTINEZ] and Marie HERNANDEZ. Marie HERNANDEZ (born about 1829) was a daughter of Anna Marie DOMINGUE and Pierre HERNANDEZ [my ancestors].

SURNAMES and/or MAIDEN NAMES include:

ADDISON
ARCENEAUX
BRASSEAUX
BREAUX
BROUSSARD
CLAUSE
COMEAUX
CORMIER
DELHOMME
DUPLECHIN
GILBERT
HERNANDEZ
KILCHRIST
MARTINEZ
MELANCON
MOUTON
RICHARD
ROBERT
SONNIER
STELLY
TRAHAN
WEBRE
WINGATE

I only had time to transcribe and photograph a few of the headstones. I wish more time would have been available. There are a lot more headstones in that cemetery. My 15 year old grandson was with me and he learned a lot about many of his relatives and ancestors buried in that cemetery and a little about our family history.

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=...
