Blandina Dominguez

I am trying to find my father's ancestry. My abuelita was Blandina Dominguez, born in Orense, Galicia, Spain. I believe her father's first name was Joaquin. She came to the U.S. in 1920, born about 1897. She married or ? to Juan Contreras Perez and had my aunt Beatrice in Arizona. They moved to Los Angeles and are listed on the 1930 census. She had two brothers who came to the U.S.; one stayed in the Los Angeles area and the other went to Mexico City and lived there. If anyone can help with my research, I will be most appreciative.
Flora Gentry Dominguez
Despite her petite frame, and demure exterior, Flora Gentry Dominguez was a strong woman with the spirit of a child, and the tenderness of a loving mother, grandmother, and wife. Flora moved to Colorado in her early twenties, and lived there till her death Thursday April 28th 2011 at the age of 87. Flora raised two sons, William and Randall Wilson. She had some of fondest memories spending the summers in New Mexico visiting her mother, talking with her sisters on the phone, spending time with her best friend Loretta, gardening, sewing, and cooking delicious traditional New Mexican meals for her family. Survived by her husband Pete Dominguez, sons Randall and William Wilson, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, she will be missed. Remember, "Beauty is as beauty does".
Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, CO.

Re: Dominguez in Jerome, Arizona

I'm not sure if you are still looking for information on your relatives. My family has lived in or near Jerome since the early 1900's and some may know your family depending on how long they lived their as many families left when the copper mine shut down. I found some information at the Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott Arizona. you can google it and go to the Library and Archives. There they have information on the 1920 census & obituaries. You can also go to azgravestones.com or .org??? Some people volunteered and took pictures of the headstones and listed information, if the information is correct or some needs to be added you can e-mail the volunteers. The arizona dept of health and vital statistics has a geneology section where you can pdf certain years for birth and death certificates. If you want to go further and you know what part of Mexico they came from you can go to familysearch.com or org and search there. I have found a lot of information on my family through these sites. Most likely my 2 grandfathers were copper miners with your family and they knew them, one of my grandpa's died last year at the age of 95 so it's too bad I didn't read your post sooner.

Let me know if this helps and I will ask my family if they know your family. E-mail me their names and approx. when they left Jerome or the Verde Valley.

Rafaela Marquez has been a mystery to me in my 10+ years of searching. Valentin Sr. Has been a bit easier to track. A couple of possibilities for Rafaela's parents have been unverifiable to date. But Rafaela died in San Lorenzo as did
Valentin so I suspect she is buried there as well. Maybe an unmarked grave. Elders I have had the good fortune to speak with in the past do not know where she is buried.

Valentine Sr, was his maternal grandfather. There are many confusing connections via Camunez between New Mexico and Texas. Currently trying to unravel those. Is your grandfather the son of Francisco Dominguez & Maria Benavidez?

Dominguez Mystery

I am working on the Dominguez Camunez Ross families of New Mexico & Texas. I have the oral history of the death of Agapita Dominguez Grijalva who was killed by her husband who then shot himself. In all the family discussions no one ever talked about a child by the Union. Recently I learned that there may have been a child, Elena Baca. She would of been 15 years old when her parents died. It is unknown if the name Baca was through adoption or through her marriage. I know that her Aunt Maria was a Baca. Thinking perhaps Elena went to live with them. Anyone who knows let me know.

Hello.. seen your post stating you are a local historiean and am hoping you might be able to help me. Does the name Navarro ring a bell for Chumash Indian. My grandmother was full blooded with her children being baptized at Rancho Camulos but can find nothing on any of them.
Peace
Cat

Dominguez Family from Spain and Cuba

My father Jose A. was born in Cuba on November 27, 1903 but his father and mother were born in Spain. My father did not have any brothers or sisters. My grandmother was Rosa del Campo Dominguez. My father moved to the USA when he was very young I know he had some family in Florida, USA. Everybody has passed away so I am working on the family tree for my Children and Grandchildren. Thank you for any help you can give me. We moved to Arkansas like in 1969. Thank you, Vilma
