A 54 page booklet of Dominique genealogy, concerning descendants who live/lived in Kankakee, Illinois, and Faribault, Minnesota, has been compiled by James Langevin and Norma Meier. It can be shared by e-mail attachment with anyone who is interested. The document contains a number of photos and personal stories. It begins with Julien Regault whose son, Dominique Regault was born 1650 in France. It is from Doninique Regault that the surname of DOMINIQUE derived.

My Gr.gr.Grandfather Charles-Octave (sp: Odile) is the farthest back I have that line on my family tree. Actually...I only have about a half dozen names for the Dominiques. Charles-Octaves' grandaughter is my Grandmother Edythe Dominique Girard. My mother Marguerite Aline Girard Cooper was named after my grandmothers sister Marguerite Aline Dominique Reuckheim.

I'm trying to investigate this lineage as far back as possible...and would love to share information with anyone willing. I have photos of some relatives (Charles' son Frank X. Dominique, Sr. was one of the last 4 veterans of the Sp-american war when he passed in 1965).

Feel free to contact me if anyone is interested. I'm a native of Kankakee, but currently work in the airline industry, and have many opportunities to travel to our family's ancestral homes in Quebec, etc.

My grandmother's maiden name was Domonique. She married George Grandpre, whio was my grandfather, they lived for a while in Orleans Parish, then moved to Kansas. Hopefully this will help you. Do you have any information in this vein?

Hello, Norma: Thank you so much for replying to my querie! I would greatly appreciate anything you could send me. I think that we are on the right track, however one of my cousins who is elderly, tells me that the spelling of the name might have been changed to DOMONIQUE, and he tells me that spelling changes in surnames was common. Once again, anything you have to send I am so appreciative of. I've been doing this for a while now, with not a whole lot of success. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

My grandchildren are descendants of Narcisse Dominique and Corrine Lambert and great grandchildren of Agnes Dominique O'Connell Mathews. I have the Dominique line back to Quebec Province and to early 1700s. I also have the Lambert line. I'd be happy to make these databases into genealogical reports and send them to you as attachments. Meanwhile if others are looking for this line:
Jean Regault-Dominique married Angelique Trudel
Their son is Augustin Regault-Dominique
His son is Jean-Baptiste Dominique born 1774, married Marie-Constance Nicole.
Their son was Jean-Baptiste Dominique born 1807, married Delphine Proulx.
Their son was Charles-Octave Dominique born 1840 married Odile Caron.
Their son was Narcisse Dominique born 15 Nov 1864 St-Paul-de-Montmagny, Province Quebec, Canada and married Corrine Lambert 24 May 1898 Bourbonnais, Illinois; she was daughter of Louis Lambert and Enrelie Terrien. Their children were: Agnes, Cecile, Nazaire, Rosetta, Blanche and Octave. I have further dates, places and other notes on these people. I would love to see the photo of Agnes, my son-in-law's grandmother, with Corrine. Please let me hear from you, I'd be happy to share any data I have. Norma Meier

My grandmother was Rosetta Dominique Shipley (b: 10/09/06). She lived next door to Blanche Dominique Dawson in Kankakee, IL. Agnes and her family lived on the other side of Rosetta (according to my father, Allen Shipley). About all I know is Rosetta and Blanche's parents names: Narcisse Dominique and Corrine Lambert. I am also told they are from Quebec. I have access to several photographs of Agnes and Rosetta in their youth and a couple with Corrine (their mother). I also have some kind of prayer stub from Corrine's funeral: she died on Aug 18, 1950 and the stub is from Senesac Funeral Home (I assume Kankakee, IL? or nearby). Nazaire was born 10/18/1901, and Octave was born 4/26/1899 and I am told he died when he was about 14 years old. I would love to have any other information.

My GGrandfather was Eugene Gendreau. He married Luci Dominque Rau on Feb.
20, 1843 (date that I have), in Frenchville, Me.
His parents were Pierre Gendreau and Marie Gamauche. They were married on Nov 6, 1804. Their children were Edward, Pierre, Eugene, Francois, and Pascal. That you may know.
I would like to know what Eugene and Luci named their children. Basile one of them, he is my grandfather. He married Marie Elodie Modeste Dube at St. Charles Church in St. Francis, ME.
on July 26 1881.

my fathers name was also joesph which is also my middle name alot of my relitives distant and close with whom my mother kept in contact before she passed on live down east in nova scotia.they seem to be scattered along the Cabot Trail,with some in newwaterford and there abouts.this is were my mother hails from.to be excact Antingonish Beach.i have one brother,alex and asister barbra .barb has passed away some years back with heart problems,which i understand run in our family.any how my dad whom i didn,t really know for he also passed on when i was almost a year old.so i didn,t really know him except from stories i heard from my brother and sister.anyhow to add to something you mentioned in your article our family has one of those dark secrets my sister tried topass on to me in a letter before she died.alas the letter was intercepted before i could read it along with other letters to other parties.i hope this bit of info. can help you.i also hope you will reply maybe we are related in someway or can piece things together. Her first name is either Octavia or Artavia, or something close to that. There is a possibility that someone in her family line was black. She married into the Grandpre/Grand Pre family. John Dominique marries Albertine Walsh in Nova Scotia (1890's?) they had three children, Peter (my gf married Margaret Fleming 1930's?) Charles and Bernadette all in Nova Scotia. My father Joseph Dominique still resides in Sydney NS ( he is no help for this) I am under the impression that Albertine Walsh Dominique was of black coloring and hence maybe the mystery since this was taboo back then. Any way I am continuing to search out info and if I come across anything I will forward it. I hope you will do the same.

Death of Mrs Mary Dominique

As the result of an attack of paralysis, which she suffered Tuesday morning, Mrs Mary Dominique, relict of Pique Dominique, died at her residence, 269 St Emanuel Street, Tuesday night. The deceased was born in Tyrone, Ireland but came to this country and settled in Mobile when quite young. She was in her sixty-sixth year and was a devout Christian and had for many years been a member of the Cathedral congregation. She was known for her high domestic qualities and her devotion to her children. The deceased is survived by one sister, Miss Rose Kelly; two sons, Frank and Thomas; four daughters, Mrs Neill McCarson, Mrs Max Buck, Mrs J C Sullivan, and Miss Jeanette Dominique. Mr Dominique died in this city about twenty-two years ago.
