Hey - looking to see if anybody has any connections to Ella Glennie Donaldson (1924 - 1989) or her daughter Sandra Jane Charlton Donaldson (born 1944). I understand Sandra may have moved to Canada after marrying Allen Anderson in Scotland. Ella was my grandmother's cousin (Ella Smith Glennie) and Sandra was known to my family when she was young.

Many thanks

Looking for any information on Henry R Donaldson, born about 1860 in ohio, and died 26 nov 1930 in cuyahoga county, ohio. He was married to Addie Ceray Coleman/ OR Ida Coleman...??? I originally thought it was Addie, but I seen somewhere else that someone had her name as Ida, so I'm clueless. Henry is the father of my GG Grandmother, Mae(y?) I would LOVE to know who his parents were. Ida/Addie Coleman as well-
Thank you so much,
Kayla

Adella May Donaldson

After much further review and research , I have come to the conclusion that my Grandmother's correct name is Adella May Donaldson, not Adelia as I told everyone previously. She told me her name was Della May and she went by May most of the time. I got the "Adelia" from her Marriage Return that wasn't all that easy to read. I am sure the "i" was in fact an"l". So you might want to change that on your records. Sorry about that..I should have checked it more thoroughly at the time. Contact me if you have more questions. gmspplply@aol.com Thanks, Arlene

Male Descendant of William Donaldson of Wabasha Co MN needed for DNA

Searching for a Male Donaldson Descendant of William Donaldson b.16 Feb 1805 in Canonsburg, Washington Co., PA and d.27 July 1891 in Plainview, Wabasha Co., MN and for practical purposes that means a Male Descendant of Charles W Donaldson b. 25 Nov 1841 Allegany Co PA and d. 05 Feb 1926 Wabasha Co., MN. A descendant of William’s wife Elizabeth F Biles has a Biles Family Bible that carefully recorded many of the Donaldson Vital Events. This Donaldson was in Cincinnati OH or a nearby Co. from 1850 - 1860 before moving on to MN in the early 1860’s.

I believe that a Son of this family, John B Donaldson b. 14 Jan 1837 Washington Co., PA was the John Donaldson who married Sarah Herron who had a Son James William Donaldson b.1857 and John d.1857, probably 22 Aug 1857, in Cincinnati OH. I know there were 2 male Donaldson’s, a Father and Son who were Descendants of this family alive recently in the Wabash Co Area of MN but cannot locate them. I am hoping to get one of them to agree to be a DNA test sponsor to compare to a Male Descendant of James William Donaldson. All expenses would be paid by our end of the family. The process involves in nothing more than scraping the inside of the cheek with a scraper similar to a Q-Tip and putting in a sterile vile and mailing it.
I will be VERY happy to help you in any way...You have already helped me by giving me the burial information for Jane. It's an old photo - I am not good at dating old photos, but am guessing 1880-1900? I'd love to get this into the hands of family. Please contact me if Sadie belongs to you.

Hi! I think I replied to something else you posted on another site as well :) My name is Krystyne, maiden name Donaldson :) My Dad is Thomas Donaldson, son of Gale (sometimes spelled incorrectly on ancestry as Gayle). He passed away in 1974 and was married to Corinne Cotton. His father is Charles (Chas), son of Clyde who passed away at 35. It looks as though Johana raised the kids on her own until she married a Lewis? Chas was just 4 or 5 and I think Johana was pregnant when Clyde passed. I have very little documentation...I'm just digging. ;) I think I am on the right track though...and have been saving some items I find on here. Charles (Chas)'s middle name WAS Clyde when he was born....but at some point, he starts coming up as Charles p. Not sure what the P stands for, and if it's a typo, or somewhere along the line she changed his name. I would love to have whatever you have! I am making a gift for my father. Since his Dad, Gale, passes away at a young age...my dad was barely 20, he doesn't have a lot of history. Thanks!

His parents were James Donaldson and Locada Jenks "Kate" Seavey.

I purchased this photo with many other Polo, Illinois photos, mainly of the Mekeel family -- so William might be related to this family as well.

I am not related, if you are and would like the original cabinet photo--just let me know!

I should have more information on Patrick Donaldson in October this year. He is my 9th G-Grandfather through his grandson, Col. John Donelson(Donaldson). I have recently submitted DNA to the Clan Donald DNA Research Project, and they have given me two dates for two different test results. The dates are 10/7, and 10/21, with a 3 or 4 day variation for for those results. My email is ddonaldson99@yahoo.com if you care to correspond with me.

Sincerely,
David E Donaldson
Florida

Re: James W. Donaldson - Cincinnati, Ohio

Rev1
James William Donaldson b.5 Feb 1857 and d.6Feb1912 is the GGrandfather of my wife. He is listed in several Ancestry Trees. I have unsuccessfully tried to unravel this confusing family for several years. James W was married abt 1878 to an Anna Hellen “Ella” Blanks. James W was apparently the son of John Donaldson and Sarah Herron. Sarah was born 20 Mar 1834 Baltimore, Warren Co., IN and d.26 Dec 1917. Ella was born May 1860 KY and d.29 June 1924 OH. John Donaldson apparently died 1856-1860 in Cincinnati or Newport KY. Various records related to John, James William, Sarah and Ellen are very confusing and quite different depending on which Burial record or Death Certificate of which person or their children is paid the most attention to. Ellen has been given as Ellen Blanks or McGowan in various burial records, but the Blanks seems to be the correct one. Sarah has been listed as Harn or Hern in various records, but if you review carefully the 1850 Census record of John Rheinhart in Cincinnati and the 1860 Census of Susan Rinehart in Cincinnati and put that with the marriage in 16 may 1850, Hamilton Co OH you can add up the complexity and get to the correct answers I started with. Another Ancestry member and a Descendant of James William Donaldson, Jr had some family notes left by her Mother that helped greatly. However the most perplexing factor is not being able to find the Family of Ella Blanks in 1860 or 1870.
There is an 1830 Census record of John Herron in Fountain Co IN (where Baltimore is located) 2 M<5, 1 M5-9, 1 M30-39, 1 F 5-9, 1 F 20-29. Perfect fit for John, Susan & Sarah.
The Children of James W and Ella are:
Mayme Donaldson (1881-1935) married Walter Edward "Chuck" Maley. 2 known children.
James William Donaldson (1884-1968) married Clara L Pfahler. 5 known Children.
Charles Robert "Curley" Donaldson (1887-1916) married Jeanette Snider. 1 known Son.
Anna Laura Donaldson (1892-1961) married 1)Edward Mark 2) Robert Marvin “Cress” Hoop.
Johnson Meyer Donaldson (1894-1969) married Josephine Marie "Dutch" Arrigo. 3 Surviving children (my wife’s line)
There was also I stillborn (or son who survived less than 1 day) Donaldson 1882 and a son Franklin that died before 1900.
Sources and additional info on Dates can be found by
RootsWeb
Go to http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/
Select WorldConnect Project Main Page Link on the left
In the “jump to a specific database” on the left in the box enter
Edclgenealogy1
Select name of interest
You may have to register the first time you visit RootsWeb, but there is absolutely no downside to doing so.

JAMES & EDITH Donaldson family- Minnesota/Iowa

I recently joined Ancestry looking for any further information on my great grandmother, LEONA DONALDSON (Heaton). She was daughter to JAMES and EDITH (KENDALL) DONALDSON of Decorah,IA/Rochester, MN. She had a sister named DOROTHY (married name NICHOLS at some point) who is still living, last I knew it was in Winona, MN.

I never knew Leona existed until years after my grandmother (Katherine, Leona's only child) passed away. My grandmother never spoke of her mother or anything concerning her childhood. After searching endlessly, the only facts I've learned of Leona are her birth date and when she died.

I'm desperately seeking any Donaldson family members linked to Leona who can tell me anything about her. From my understanding there are very sad circumstances surrounding her, hence why she was always kept a secret. I feel compelled to find out all I possibly can about her. Please help! -Kristin (krabykn@hotmail.com)
