Well, I am not as far into my genealogical research as you are, but I do have a DOR/DUERR/DORR/DUR in my family tree. Louise DOR/DUERR/DORR/DUR was born in the early 1800's to Gottlieb DOR/DUERR/DORR/DUR (wife unknown). Louise was born in West Prussia. She came to the United States with her husband Julius Gering/Gehring Sr. in approximately 1845. She lived in Oshkosh, Wisconsin until her death. Does any of this ring a bell. It is not a very common name (at least from my perspective) so I am wondering if there is any relationship here? Please get back to me--I have hit a dead end in the research of this branch. There is an interesting family rumor attached to her--I would be glad to share it if you are interested.

surname DOR

I'm searching for every information about the surname DOR. I think the name DOR is about 250 years old. A soldier from Prusia came to the Netherlands. His name was JURGEN DEHR. He became a slodier in the army of the " 7 provincien " to defend the netherlands. His father was a horse salesman from Prusia. ( the north of Poland ). He married a dutch girl, named Francina VAN MALSEN or something like that. I don't know when they married. I Know that this Jurgen DEHR became a dutch name. His new name was GEORGE DOR. He died in 1805 in Utrecht , the Netherlands. His wife was born in or round 1739. They became at least 7 children and every child became a different surname. The surnames I found are DOR , DORR , DEHR , DER and DAAR. Maybe anybody can help me. I want to know everything about this family name but
specially about the first JURGEN DEHR (DOR).
Every information is welcome.
