I am wondering if anyone may have a Michael Doran?
All I know for sure is that he was Godfather to Thomas O'Connor born in early mid 1940's in Quebec Canada(Frampton I think) to James O'Connor(Connor in Canada?_) and Mary Kell/s
James was born in Ireland(maybe Wexford?) and Mary somewhere in England. They married at a Angleican Church in Quebec , but all their children were baptized roman catholic.

The Godmother to Thomas was Rosalie Burton or Barton I think.
I don't know if Michael was living in Canada, let alone Quebec or not, but he was the Godfather.

Other assoicated names with O'Connor family while in Canada were Kells, Berny(Barny?)Deveereux(Sarah), Doyle(Mary), Miles and Mary Connor..

Would you happen to have information about Thomas Doran, born 1858? He married Mary Ann Kelly from Warsaw, Hancock County, Illinois. Spent some time in Missouri and lived out his days and died in 1936 in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Their witness to the marriage was Thomas Doran and Ellen Morrisey.

John and Bridget's children were:
Denis born 15/03/1841 he married Mary Cranny daughter of Tom and Julia (nee Doran) Cranny
Godparents were Thomas Doran and Judith Morrisey

Catherine born 17/01/1843 her Godparents were James Morrisey and Anastatia Doran

Patrick born 01/02/1845 his Godparents were John Morrisey and Ellen Doran

Elizabeth born 26/07/1847 her Godparents were Denis Doran and Bridget Doran

Judy Doran born 01/03/1850 Godparents Nicholas Morrisey and Catherine Doran

Bridget born 27/02/1852 her Godparents were Nicholas Downey and Ellen Morrisey

Denis and Mary Doran are my Great Granparents.
I am working on a Family Reunion for Easter next year and would like as many contacts that I can get as I would like to meet all of my Cousins.

Just browsing through the message boards and saw your post. I have a James Doran born about 1823 in North Wexford south of Arklow. He joined the RIC (Police) in 1845 and left in 1859 and there the trail ends. Maybe there is a connection with your James I live in Ireland

Hi! We're related! I have the same Richard Doran although born 1813. I also have tons of Everson's in my tree. Richard married married Hannah Pollack b. July 27, 1828 in Pennsylvania d.30 Jun 1898 in Norristown, Montgomery Co, Pennsylvania, USA. Richard was born in Ireland. I am looking for his parents now and having a hard time.

William and Johanna Cotter Doran were the parents of my grandfather Michael Doran. He was born in Melrose (Ragged Harbor), Newfoundland, in 1888 and died in Melrose, Mass., in 1975. Any information you find on them or other family members would be most welcome.

I am sorry to say I am not connected to that Doran line...at least not as far as I know yet. My William Doran married but did not have any children. But if I can aid you in your search please let me know, I have come across other Doran lines and maybe I can connect you to someone else.

I know this is nearly 10 years later, but...
My father (Patrick C Doran), his sister both had RP.
His cousins (1 male and 1 female) also had RP
This came about because a brother and sister (Doran) married a brother and sister - and clearly both were carrying the recessive RP gene. I suspect this may link us. We don't know when our ancestor arrived in Australia. We don't have info on his siblings or parents. His name was Patrick Doran, we think he came from County Armagh. I don't have all the info with me now re birth / death but can get back to you if we think there is a connection.

NOVEMBER 11, 1910

On Tuesday (Nov.8) morning at 10:30 o'clock at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. M.L. DeLaney, in the northwest part of town, occurred the death of Mrs. Bridget Doran, at the advanced age of 82 years.
Deceased was born in county Lathram, Ireland in the month of May, her maiden name having been Bridget Murray. She came to the United States at the age of 16 years, and three years later was married to Michael Doran, in Philadelphia. About thirty years ago she came to Illinois and had resided at Niantic, coming to Chatsworth about six months ago with Mr. and Mrs. DeLaney. She had made her home with them for the past three years, her husband having preceded her in death about two years ago.
Mrs. Doran was the mother of twelve children, three of whom survive, as follows; Mrs. M.L. DeLaney, of Chatsworth; T.E. Doran, of Niantic, and Mrs. Hugh Graham, of Aberdeen, S.Dak.
The funeral services were held at SS. Peter and Paul's church on Thursday morning, Rev. W.J. Burke officiating, and the remains were taken to Niantic for interment, the following from here accompanying them: J.C. Corbett, T.E. Baldwin, J.W. Garrity, J.e. Roach and J.A. Kerrins.

I am of his family and know that there was a connection to the Davison's here in Atlanta. I am sorry but I probably just skimmed your other message. I have not seen anyother metion of Thomas Doran and his family that I know of. I usually watch for birth and death items the most since that is what we look for a lot in family history. I will try and watch out for more info and let you know.

I don't believe that the newspaper in Gilpin County is indexed but I am not sure. You can contact the paper at:

Not sure if you saw my original question but I'm curious if there was anything more mentioned in that article on Thomas Doran or his family. Is the newspaper for Gilpin County indexed in any way? I'd be interested in seeing any other articles mentioning the surname "Doran", specifically those dating from 1870 to about 1920.

Thanks for posting this! This happens to be Thomas Doran (b.1826), husband to Anastasia Johnson (1832-1911), and an older brother of the aforementioned James Austin Doran (b.1840). This is the only mention I've come across for Thomas' actual date of death - his tombstone states only the year of 1891.

Was there anything mentioned further on Thomas or the family in the article?

Are you familiar with Find A Grave? It's a great "free" site. Google Find A Grave and then enter Memorial #48875437 (Ada's number) and you will be able to see her memorial page and stone.

Emmett died Feb. 23, 1981 and is buried in Golden Oaks Cemetery, Boyd Co., Ky. His wife Minnie E. Lang Wagoner Ross died April 20, 2002 and is also buried in Golden Oaks. Here's her obituary.

I hope the two obit's below will help you. Looks like Emmett's mother, Ada Doran married a Wagoner and then married a Johnson. If I remember correctly I read someplace where Emmitt lived with his grandparents part of the time. Let me know if this helps you. Are you a descendant of Emmett Wagoner? My husband is from Emmett's grandfather William Doran.

This must be another Thomas Doran then yours. I post notices I fined in the newspaper from Gilpin County that were posted 30, 60, 90, & 120 years ago. I do that to help others looking for family that they can not find from that area.

My grandmother was Harriette Florence Doran and she married Walter Hansen here in Connecticut. Harriette immigrated here from Ireland, while Walter's family had already been here. Originally his family immigrated from Sweden however.

the james doran you refer to is my grandfather.
his mother was alice, possibly kelly, who married a patrick fisher after her husband died. i dont know her first husbands name. james doran was born in a workhouse in co. down, & had at least 2 brothers, john & peter

Looking for infomation on th family of Mary O'connell ,born in Ireland in 1811,and who came to Canada in Sept 1831 at the age of 21, married John Patrick Doran (born 1798) who came to Canada Dec 1815 at the age of 17.They were married in Nelson new Brunswick on the 16th of May 1842.We can trace them through the years in C...anada but we are at a loss when it comes to their family in Ireland
I have a list of all of this family tree from when they arrived in Canada but cannot find the links in Ireland.

The only record I have doesn't list any other children or marriage but there seems to be a lot of secrets in this family. My great grandmother was Alice and she was the oldest of the sixteen children. My grandmother lorraine unfortunatly passed 5 years ago and I know gert and snookie passed around the same time. My grandmother sister helen may be able to shed some light on this, but not sure. I remember my grandmother talking about Joe. I have a family picture and can see if I can copy. Bessie or Bertha came from Germany, have not been able to find more there. Albert and his family came from walden Germany and his parnts were Christian and Maria Dorau. I believe Albert changed it later. I will try to find out more. Mechelle

Thanks for your reply! Yes, his birth name is Christian Rheinhold but from what I've heard, his mother Bessie always called him "Joe" and that is the name he went by. He and Betty are my paternal grandparents via Michael Doran.

My Dad says they had very little contact with the Doran side and it was probably because he wanted to keep his previous marriage and family a secret from his children. This came as a great shock to all of us because he was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.

I have inherited all of Betty's genealogy records but there is very limited info about the Dorans. I would love any new information that you would be willing to give! Thanks!

I have a family document that list a marriage 9 jan 1943. Not sure of the name maybe christina rheinhold? and two children sandra and michael. But got this paper from my grandmother who was alice joseph's sister and it was done by betty doran Not many alive still who would know. will check further.
