I'm a bit mixed up. I replied to your message saying that I doubt that your Martin is related, unless, he may be a brother to our William, who was born in 1815

The Martin in our family was born circa 1849, son of William, and Martin went to USA, circa 1864.
Thank you, and I hope you can figure out if we are connected.
Margie

Thank you for your reply. Our Martin Doyle had a father, William, born about 1815. So, I doubt that your Martin is connected unless Martin was a brother of William.
My great grandmother, Catherine Doyle was born in 1841 in Rathnagrew, Co
Wicklow (near Hackettstown, Carlow). Her parents were Timothy and Mary (Byrne) who were married in 1836 in Arklow I believe. I think they were farmers. I know nothing of Catherine's brothers and sisters except she did have a sister who did come to the US and lived in the Washington, DC area. I think Catherine came to New York in 1860 right before her 19th birthday. She married Murthas Whalen who came over before her. He was from Co. Wexford and I know even less of his family. Catherine and Murthas' youngest, Annie was my grandmother. They had about 14 kids. There are so many Doyles! Let me know if any of this sounds familiar. It might be an entirely different family.

Claire

HERBERT DOYLE from Cleveland Ohio

Hi everyone,
I found some items in a flea market for HERBERT DOYLE.

Pictures:
Herbert at 11 months
Herber at 2 yrs old
Herbert at 3 yrs old
Herbert as a grown man in his army uniform (was a Sergeant)

ALSO:
Souvenir booklet of 5250th Technical Intelligence Company, Tokyo Japan.
This looks like a small scrapbook--there are some photos in it--one of which is apparently the commanding officer Lt Col
Robert P. McQuail sitting at a desk. Other pictures appear to be of the canteen, an auditorium with a concert going on, a barbershop and the barracks (inside).

There is a listing of all the men from this unit and their addresses at the time. The men were from all over the country.

There is also a photocopy of a letter from Herbert's brother, Sgt John F Doyle, postmarked War & Navy Departments V-Mail Service, 21 November 1944. This is a bitt difficult to read as writing is extremely small--but parts are readable.

If anyone is part of Herbert Doyle's family and would like these items, please contact me AT THE EMAIL ADDRESS BELOW.

I would like to see these items go to whoever is doing genealogy for the family.

Thanks!
Lois Kastner

lakastner@usa.net

15 April 2012

Looking for Doyles who came to Washington in the mid 1800's. My gr gr grandmother was Elizabeth A. Doyle, born about 1855 in Canada; she named her father as Thomas Doyle and mother as Mary. Elizabeth settled in Thurston County, Maytown area with her husband Martin Tierney.
There was another Elizabeth (not sure what maiden name was) Doyle who married a John J. Doyle and was in same Thurston County during that time also
I am wondering about any Doyles or Tierneys that would have been in the Whatcomb County or surrounding areas as my gr. gr. Aunt Florence Elizabeth Tierney (my Elizabeth's daughter) married a Charles Hillis in Whatcomb/Skagit area and was a school teacher there. Names associated with family: Agnes, Catherine, Florence, William Thomas, Michael Charles, Cornelius, Cecelia, and Elizabeth. Have picture of the family and dates of birth, death, etc.

She shows in the 1870 U.S. census as being employed as a Domestic on a farm belonging to a Martha Judson in Ogdensburg, New York, USA. She married Godfrey Gardner, later moved to Ontario, Canada, where she died in 1919. I have found no information on her, other than her death certificate and the 1870 U.S. census. Does anyone have any information regarding this woman?

His mothers name was Ella V Joyce, They were in Northampton MA(Florence section)and Bernard and 3 brothers, one was Raymond and he had two daughters one of whom married a Lynch.
They 4 sons were all born in Northampton.
Bernard(San Franciso) had been a Medic in army during WW11 I think, he went to tufts medical school here in Boston, and had worked among other places mgh, veterans hospital in Framingham MA.

I know some about his family, but very little about him personally. Did he marry, to whom, have children if so who, where and when etc.

Somehow theres a connection to my family, because when my late aunt died she left paperwork with Bernard and his mothers names on it, Connecting names Lynch, Sweeney, Bradley, O'Donnell, Nelson, Tuffli, DiRocco, Kotarski, Macken, Doherty.

Thank you
Barbara

Doyle's of Urbalreagh or Malin

Looking for more history on James Doyle, (1888 – 1963) who was born in County Donegal, somewhere near Urbalreagh or Malin. He and his wife Ellen came over to America on the ship California in 1913. He had a Twin Brother, David and another brother Andrew – who he put on the immigration form as his sponsor in Malin. That form also stated that he was heading to East Orange, NJ.

I found 1901 and 1911 Irish Census, so I am fairly sure his father was James Dayle (b. 1867) (Not sure if they couldn’t decipher the handwriting as to why one is Doyle and one is Dayle). His Mother is Mary (no surname available) and his Grandfather was Felix (b. 1831) His wife was Ellen (b. 1898) (again, no surname)

Would love to find more about all sides of this family – mainly the Doyle side, but if you can share anything you have on his wife, Ellen or his mother, Mary, I would be very grateful.
