MUSCATINE,
Iowa - George John
Draper, 91, of Muscatine, died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at
Mercy Hospital in
Iowa City.
Funeral
Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor John Brown of the Fruitland
Baptist Church will officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial
Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2005, at the funeral home.
George was born on November 3, 1913, in
Seymour, the son of Frank and
Belle Draper. He married Josephine
Carr on April 5, 1957 in
Davenport,
Iowa.
He grew up on a farm in rural
Seymour. He worked as a coal miner in
Guthrie Center. He worked as a ranch hand in
Idaho and did some mining in
Oregon. He returned to
Iowa and retired from
Dewey Portland Cement Company after 17 years of employment.
Survivors include Josephine
Draper of Muscatine; one son, Frank
Draper and wife, Wynna; two grandsons, Alex and
Grant Draper of Muscatine; one nephew, Larry
Draper and wife, Jackie, of Neosho, Missouri; and one niece, Kathy
Leopard and husband, Arnold, of Fruitland.
George was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, one step-son, Charlie
DeVore, and one step-daughter, Ruth
