My children and grandchildren deserve to know who she was and her nationality. I thought u said her name was Dora? I didn't ask what she died of, I asked what her heritage was. Irish like grandpa, indian, what? My mom Ruth, has Alzhiemers & that could have been what our grandma died from also, they just didn't know the real name of it back then. Pls give me all the info u have on her.

OL was Irish. Look up name origin on google. (Droody is celtic and galic) Juanita wasCherokee, maiden name Reynolds.

Hey Mark, speak for yourself, I'm part of the original batch also, my mom is Ruth, from the first wife. I think my mom was a beautiful woman, just had to work like hell taking care of kids, cooking & everything thing else when he met 2nd wife. I dont believe grandpa was really married to Juanita, marriage license was never produced. I would still like to know what happened with grandpa & first wife, I know it's history & should be left in past, but when you don't know any of your past & can't even tell your own kids about your family, you start asking questions yourself.

Hey,
I'm Mark Drawdy. My dad was Roland, the oldest of the ten kids.
His mother war Dora, OL's first wife. The second wife was Juanita. Lily is a daughter of OL and Juanita. Lilybell is a really pretty aunt. All the Irish/Cherokee kids came out good lookin. The original batch came out kind of ugly.

When I called her I left my home # on her v/m, but I will do it again. I miss everyone also & yes, we do have a big family, but not too many of us communicate like we should. Where do you live? I now live in W.V. My mom Ruth has had serious health issues, but I am no longer wanted at my moms place. Long story & I don't want to discuss it on here. Let your mom know, I will be calling her again soon.

I have a great grandfather named Andrew Jackson Drawdy that I believe was an officer in the confederate army. Is this the same Drawdy that you are talking about. I would like any info about him that you might have. My mother's maiden name is Mable Elizabeth Drawdy. I am Al McGee 214 500-5950

Certainly by now you have found out your great grandfather was Sherman L. Drawdy. Your grandfathers wife was a cousin of mine. I am trying to find any photographs of this line I can. I have one of your grandmother when she was young and quite a few of her side of the family...but I have none of any of the Drawdy's.
I am anxious to learn more as I am losing my sight, hence, the sense of urgency. If we can connect and share I would be most interested. Thank you.

Most likely you are inquiring about my great grandfather, Thomas Watson Drawdy. He had a brother in Wayne County by the name of Garfield Drawdy. I am Lester Watson Drawdy, III.

Arnie Drawdy - Florida

I'm looking for more information about Arnie Drawdy of Orlando, FL. He was born around 13 June 1900. From information on the 1930 federal census, I think he had a half brother named Jack Drawdy. Their father was A Sherman Drawdy, born in Georgia. I can't find a record of Arnie ever having been married, but I know he had a daughter born in 1938. I don't know if this was common knowledge among his family. His daughter, my mother-in-law, doesn't know much about him and I'm just trying to find out anything I can.

Am seeking anyone who might have info on the family of Carl Cole Drawdy b.1905 d. 1979 and his wife Mary Elizabeth Edwards b. 1906 d. 1981. She was originally from Augusta GA and they lived mostly in Wayne Co. GA, primarily in Jesup I believe. Some one posted many yearbook photos and I am hopeful I can connect through them. Sorry for not getting back sooner, alot going on & won't get into it, but back now & would like to know more about grandma & grandpa. I know it is the past, but I want to know. I don't believe my mom would mention it if it didn't happen. If you can find out, I would like to know about where grandma is burried, I think my mom would like to know & possibly go by there.

If I remember correctly, you said you have grandchildren yourself, well, I am about to be a grandma for the 4th time.

Would have emailed faster, but after reading it I had to let it sink in a little. Yeah, it seems that heart problems do run in the family. My mom's had several heart attacks herself & now she also has blockeage. I would very much like to know where she is buried, if you can get that info. I am also 44. Don't remember alot of the cousins, but I'm sure I saw them at times. Hate to ask, but did grandpa ever try to strangle grandma? Mom said it happened cause grandpa thought she was cheating on him. Nice to meet ya.
According to my dad, (Roland), O.L. and Dora split when he was 13 years old. Everyone thought she was crazy. The truth was that she had brain cancer and the tumor was effecting her judgment and moods. Very sad!
She died when I was very young so it had to be at least 35 or 40 years ago. I'm 44
He, my dad, told me at one time where she was buried and we visited the grave site once when I was a child.
Unfortunately that was a long time ago so I don't remember.
I think it was Lakeland FL but not sure.
Dad died 10 years ago yesterday on Good Friday so I can't ask him.
Sorry about your mom. Heart problems seem to run in the family.
My mom is currently living in Harrimon TN. and probably knows a lot more than me.
I will e-mail you her phone # but I'm not going to post it here.

Hey Mark,
First off, thanks for responding back, didn't think anyone would. Thank you also for finally knowing my real grandmother's first name. To complete your list of names, they are Roland, Regina, Cecil & Ruth (my mom & youngest from 1st "marriage"). Mary Juanita had daughter named Lawanda already & added Lily Bell, Likelen, Linda, Danny & Nancy. Uncle Cecil is buried between Grandpa & Uncle Worth. I am sure Grandma Dora is no longer living, but if you would have the cemetary name, I would like to go visit the site. Could you possibly tell me the reason why they split?

My mom, Ruth Belton (Drawdy), had 2 small strokes behind each other not long age & lost most of her memory (including the trust she put in me), which is why I now reside in West Virginia. Have more info, but don't want to fill this thing up.

Grandpa was Otis Liklen, Grandmother was Dora(see Mt. Dora Fl website) Not same woman but same family.
Second Grandmother is Juanita Reynolds Drawdy.
Went through Drawdy GA when a child and my dad said it was named after our family.
A convenience store w/a post office was the entire town.
Now that's a Drawdy.

I have an Aunt named Lily who was working at Toyota of Orlando last I heard. Her last name was/is Volmer.
There were ten kids! Roland,(my dad and the oldest), Cecil, Lily Bell, Danny, Likelen, Linda, and can't remember the rest.

I am trying to get info on my family history, but having difficulty in doing so. My grandfather was Otis L. Drawdy, he was "so-to-speak" married twice & I didn't know this. He had a farm just south of MacAlpin, FL, which he inherited from his brother, Worth. I never knew him, but heard of him often. What I am looking for is info on my real grandmother & more info on my grandfather. I have been told her name was Lily, but not sure. I would think she is no longer living, but don't know that either. If she is deceased, would it be possible to get the name of where she is burried? My mother never really spoke of her, except that she loved her very much. My grandfather had 9 children total, 4 from first & 5 from second. I have to say, 2nd wife already had one child prior. If you can help in any way, I would appreciate it.

I am doing this for my children, grandchildren & myself. I am tired of not knowing my ancestry.

I have information on Zinnie Drawdy. She was Hattie, Shellie and Birtie's older sister. Their father was John Drawdy.Their mother died and they were adopted out. They lost all contact for many years. They are all deceased now. I'm interested in any info you may have. Birtie adopted my mother but she died when my mother was 11. We are trying to piece together info on my mothers adoption. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Daniel Drawdy the immigrant,(1726) from Ireland about 1745. Married Elizabeth ? maybe Douglas Around 1750. Six Children born in Virginia colony before migrating to Barnwell,Colleton S.C. Children were Ezekiel (1754),William (1755), Daniel (1756), Thomas (1757), John (1758) and possibly a girl Linnie also born , (1758). William Married Ruth Ellison about 1780. they had a slew of children. I have the names of the children etc if you don't have them. Daniel (1756) was R.S. but no record of William being R.S. though it is likely he was. Submitted by jamesvaldosta

None of the information I come up with pans out. When you look at the census, it appears that Thomas L. and John were brothers of David. Then when I look thru the magnifying glass, David looks like Daniel. But Daniel married Rebecca Jernigan. I am still trying.

Luke Drawdy is indeed related... however, it's not your grandfather's brother. Luke's brother, Smith Dade Drawdy, was the father of Tildon Luke. I come from the same line. My gg grandfather was Corneilus Drawdy, 1838-1886. He was one of the middle brothers. Corneilus aka Neil, Luke, Smith Dade and George W. were the youngest. We are certainly cousins and I would be thrilled to share my information. I have been to the Corinth Cemetery several times and photographed the graves. I have also been to the Drawdy-Rouse Cemetery in Orlando and photographed Luke and Smith Dade's mother's grave. Please contact me so we can share some solid data.

Army Air Corps Sgt. Drawdy in WW2

I am seeking information on a Sgt. Drawdy/Droddy/Drody who served in the Army Air Corps in WW2 and was in Germany after the war.
