Godfry Dreher

I am at a dead end and I'm looking for some help. I am wondering if the south carolina revolutionary war solider Godfry Dreher went by the name Andrew Godfry Dreher. I have a story relating my 7 generation grandmother, Margaret Dreher, wife of Andrew Cromer, as the daugther of Andrew Godfry Dreher Revolutionary War Hero. It goes on to declare that Andrew Godfry Dreher was the uncle of Rev. Godfry Dreher, and that he later migrated to Louisana.

Y-DNA Dreger (Dreher) Project

Hello everyone,
I am the group administrator for the recently approved "Dreger Project" (a derivation of Dreher) through www.familytreedna.com. For anyone unfamiliar with the larger project goals, Family Tree DNA offers Y-DNA genotyping and comparisons for genetic genealogical studies. Male individuals can have their DNA test results included in surname projects for comparison and determination of surname lineages. I have applied to have the Dreger Project accepted by the Family Tree DNA program and have recently received approval. What this means is that we can begin tracing our Dreger origins, comparing where we fit in with the grand scheme of human evolution, determining branch points for different Dreger lineages, and even following Dreger migration around the world! For you as an individual, this may assist you in confirming your suspected genealogical relationships derived through the production of family trees, or may help suggest new directions to go in when searching for common ancestors. It may also suggest your family's place in the Dreger ancestry. Participation will allow us to characterize the greater Dreger family and all of the associated derivatives. For more information on the Family Tree DNA project, follow this link ... http://www.familytreedna.com/
For information specifically on the Dreger Project, follow this link ... http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Dreger/default.aspx

Testing does involve a one-time payment to cover genotyping, but if you sign up through the Dreger Project link (above) you can receive a discounted price.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions!

--
Dayna Dreger
I am descended from a Michael Turner (b. around 1752) who may have emigrated from Alsace in 1767 under the name Hans Michael Dreher on the Ship Hamilton. By 1790 Michael Turner is located in Loudoun Co., Va. and attending the New Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Lovettsville, Va. Church records list him as Michael Dreher; civil records list him as Michael Turner. We have had a male descendant of Michael Turner tested through FamilyTree DNA. His DNA does not match any of the hundreds of Turners on the site; his Haplogroup is E1b1b1. Have any of the Alsace Drehers had their DNA tested?

Clyde,

Apologies for the delay in responding to you. If you have a tree you would be willing to share I'm sure I could benefit from info you have.

Thanks,
Jim

Hello James,
I just started an ancestry account to find my families roots. From what I've learned so far, my GG Grandfather was Phillipe Dreher who was married to Salome Beck both from Alsace Lorraine (France).
My G Grandfather was George who came to U.S. in 1888 and was married to Sarah Mintzner. He also came from Alsace Lorraine (Germany) confussing.......
They had two sons, my Grandfather Alfred George and George Clyde.
My father, Clyde Sr. was one of two sons to Alfred and Helen with the other son being Wally.
My name is Clyde Jr. and I am one of 10 Children of Clyde and Marcie Dreher who have lived in the Springdale Pa. area for most of their lives. My Mother and Father are still living and my uncle walley has passed in the last couple of years.
I am having trouble finding information on my G Grandfather Georges' death as it appears that he passed between the 1900 and 1920 census.
Hopefully this information helps in some way and I look forward to any info that you can provide as well....
Thank you,

Clyde K. Dreher Jr.
Columbus, Ohio

My family came from Hausen am Tann, with the family name Dreher. Three of the Dreher brothers left in the early twenties. Two brothers left to attend Police Academy, and a third immigrated to Iowa. All three brothers now have descendents in America, and also in the Reutlingen area of Germany. My family lore has it that much of the documentation before the 1700's was lost in a church fire.

I don't have access to the obituary, but was wondering if you have any further information regarding the ancestors of CONRAD. My great-grandfather JOHANN ADAM WILHELM DREHER immigrated to the U.S. with one brother in the 1870s. I have traced this family back to about the 1680s. It would be interesting to find a link. Have you looked at my website to see if there are any relations?

www.maureenmalloy.com/genealogy/

Hope to hear from you soon
He last lived in the Denver metro area (Commerce City, Adams Co, CO); (2) His wife Josephine (Werth) Dreher b. 9/21/1901 and d. 2/1987 (Age 85). She appears to have moved to the Akron, CO area prior to her death (in Washington Co). I believe they were married in Schoenchen, KS and had 16 children. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would think there would be some link to my family. Two Dreher brothers immigrated to the US in the late 1850s or early 1860s. They both landed in Minnesota. I go back to the 1600s on the Dreher side. Take a look at my website and see if you can find a link.

www.maureenmalloy.com/genealogy/

Could it be the same one?

His parents were Johan Dreher, b. Aug 1843 in Prussia, Germany d. 14 Feb 1907 in Minneapolis, Hennepin, MN, USA, and Susanna Bousch b. abt. 1835 in Prussia, Germany, d. abt. 1895 in St. Paul, Ramsey, MN, USA.
DeeDee,

Who are you exactly? I see you have relatives buried at the Kelly Cemetery in Columbia. I am related to them. Claudius Wilhelm Ernest Dreyer was the first Dreyer (aka Dreher) in that line and was also buried there.

Daniel Dreher dldreher@yahoo.com

I have quite a few Drehers from Ohio but most of mine are from the Central Ohio area. I go back as far as 1633 with a Michael Dreyer.

Bill Shrum
