Hi Linda,
Great to hear from you! Seems so long since I posted that message. I also come from a small family of Duddingtons living in the South West of Western Australia. My father came directly from the Duddingtons in the UK and arrived in Australia in the 50's on a ship. Did you visit the village of Duddington while you were in the UK?
My Grandfathers name was Arthur Duddington and he has a brother David Duddington and also had a sister Margaret.
I am currently working up in Michigan. Would love to know more but my Uncle and my Mother are definately the family
historians. Look forward to learning more.

Hello, sorry not to have replied - have been away on holiday. Have you any knowledge of a Jack Duddington (my paternal grandfather), who lived in London, but I seem to remember did have relatives in Perth, Australia? He died many years ago (must have been about 1958/9 or so) at the age of 92. He was married to a Russian, his second wife and my grandmother. I believe that his first wife had been called Iris.
Katya Aron

I have never heard this, but I do know there is a village (or town, maybe, by now, in Rutland-the smallest county in England, which is called Duddington. My parents took me and my two sisters there just to visit the place with our name!
Maybe our ancestors came from there ages ago1
Katya

Hello to anyone else interested in tracing Duddington ancestry! My email address has changed slightly please note.My paternal grandfather John (known as Jack) Duddington had relatives in Australia (I think he had a sister called Iris who lived in Perth) this would have been a good many years ago, as he was about 90 when he died, which must have been in about 1959. Any connections out there?
Katya Aron (nee Duddington)

Hi,

I live in Perth, Western Australia. Went back to the UK for a family re-union about two years ago. Was determined to find out what DUDDINGTON meant. Discovered the word "DUDD" means "short, fat man". So essentially i think the name means "town of the son of a short, fat man". I think this is hilarious. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Jodie
