Hello, I am looking for my Father, married to my Mother in 1955 or so. He would have been born around 1935-36 time frame. They were married only for a short time and the marriage was annulled. I was born in 1956. He would have been stationed out in California during this time frame, also. I don't know exactly what branch of the service, but he was a friend of my Uncle Donald Bishop, who was in the Army. My Father would have had an abdominal scar due to an auto accident in an old Willy's. He rolled it. Does this sound like your Father? Sincerely, Dani Dugan Hiebert

i believe sarah was my great grandmother also. i think you have it a little reversed. according to the dates & last names she would have been married to william dawson first & then Patrick Dugan. it seems there were 2 Dawsons & then 6 or 7 Dugans. My grandfather was Joseph born 1900 or 1901. I've been trying to piece this together for a while but when I saw the 1920 census & someone's family tree that showed his sister Helen married to Sharkey I was certain. I was young but remember that name like yesterday. I know a lot about my grandmother (his wife) & where they lived (hells kitchen) they hadn't moved out to much before I was born. I love more info also - it seems there are a lot of children floating around

If we are talking about the same Norman Dugan I knew him he was my instructor pilot and flew with him for few years as his copilot for a cargo airline on DC-8.
He was a fine man very sociable and good character. Actually I was looking for him for couple of years since I lost track of his whereabouts.
I know he was from PA and he had a son. He loved fishing, hunting and also horses. Very often at the racetrack since he owed 2 horses at bay meadows in San Mateo CA. He lived from 1982-1994 in Millbrae CA.
Re: Reply to James Dugan enquiry

Edward Crone the Man That Never Was

Patrick Dugan and Debra Lenihan/Lenaghan arrived in Scotland from County Down Ireland with their family and others, around the time of the Great Potato Famine 1849, settling in Glasserton, Wigtownshire.
Marriage Certificate
Their eldest son Daniel Dugan/Duggan/Dougan married Agnes Cronney on October Fourteenth 1855 at Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire. (there are so many spelling changes in the records)
The marriage (after banns) was solemnized between them according to the Rites & Ceremonies of the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland.
Their residences were given as Slate Heugh, Glasserton, the home of Daniel’s parents and Appleby (farm) Glasserton where the parents of Agnes resided. Daniel was listed as a bachelor, Farm Servant, aged 24
Born & Registered on 3 February 1831, near Castlewilliam (sic Castlewellan) County Down, Ireland.
His wife Agnes was listed as a spinster, Domestic Servant, aged 23,
Birthplace, and when and where registered
Born & Registered on 12 March 1832 at Portwilliam, Wigtownshire, Scotland

Parents Names and Rank or Occupation
Patrick Dougan, Farm Labourer and Deorah Dougan, maiden name Lenachan (sic)
Patrick Croney, Farm Labourer and Mary Croney, maiden name Croney

Officiating Minister
J. J. Buckley RCC

Witnesses
John Cronney and Mary Cronney (sic)

Registered 22 October 1855 James B. Dill Assistant Registrar.

There is a lot more to the story of this family which would be unknown to people in the United States who no doubt remain believing that they are somehow related to a family named Crone.
At Glasserton, Wigtownshire, Scotland Edward Dugan was born on the 16 Aug 1856 the son of Daniel Dugan/Duggan and his wife Agnes Cronie/Cronny. He was baptised on the 21st Aug.1856 at Newton Stewart RC Church, the sponsors were John Flanagan/Flanighan and Cate Duggan.
It is believed the sponsors were Catherine Duggan, the sister of Daniel and her future husband John Flanagan, the reason for the surname duplication being the fact so many different spellings were given in the records and I want the reader to understand this.
Despite an extensive search for the death or whereabouts of Daniel Dugan after the birth of his son Edward (under numerous spellings) I am unable to say what became of him.
When the 1861 census was recorded in Wigtownshire, Scotland Edward Dugan was listed at Appleby Farm with his mother and grandparents.
1861 census Scotland
Address: Appleby Farm
Name Relationship Age Marital Status Place of Birth
Patrick Cronie Head 58 married born Ireland
Mary Cronie Wife 50 married born Ireland Agnes Dugan dau. 28 married born Mochrum Wigtownshir Edward Dugan gr/son 4 born Glasserton,Wigtownshir Francis Cronie son 18 unmarried born Mochrum, Wigtownshir Ann Cronie dau. 16 unmarried born Mochrum.Wigtownshire

Death Entry Agnes Dougan died aged 39 (of valvular disease of heart) married to Daniel Dougan and daughter of Patrick Cronie, agricultural labourer, and Mary, maiden surname Cronie. Informant: Patrick Cronie, father. Edward had a half brother but I doubt he ever knew this, the children of his half brother also ended up in the USA but this is another story for another time, Kindest Regards, Paddy.

I'm looking for information on Harriet A. Dugan, b. 1825 in Washington, DC and d. 1895 in Rockville, MD. She was the headmistress of a girls school in Rockville, MD from the 1850s to 1890s. The school has been referred to as the Rockville Girls Seminary and the St. Mary's Institute. During the Civil War the school was located at the NE corner of Washington Street and Courthouse Square. Harriet is buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Rockville, Maryland along with her mother Maria Dugan. Harriet may have had a brother, Andrew Jackson Dugan, also known as John Dugan, who married Phebe Selby, the widow of Robert Selby. The Dugans may have been related to to Eleanor Brent Goodfellow and Eliza M. Mosher, who were the primary beneficiary of Harriet's estate.

Charles A. Dugan and Mary M. Smith of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Im looking for information on the family of Charles Alfonso Dugan (b. 1884), Married to Mary M. Smith (b. 1886). THey had 10 children: Walter, Vincent, Ursula, Edmond, Grace, Raymond, Jane, Margaret, Marie and Gerard.

I know that Charles has a brother named Paul and a brother-in-law called Jerry. I found census records indicating that Charles and Paul's parents might be Patrick Dugan (b. 1854) and Margaret (b. 1857).

I'm pretty sure that the family lived in Pittsburgh most of their lives.

Does anyone have any information regarding this family? I'd be so grateful!

Re: Jeremiah Dugan

He is also my GGrandfather. The line is Jerimiah > Horace Stanley > Charles (my Dad). The first info I got years ago was his obit in the Ostego Union on May 4, 1897. It mentioned birth in Rochester, NY in 1838. Rochester is the black hole of research, because the records were burned in fire at the turn of the century. I thought I had pushed had pushed him back to Ireland for birth but it turned out to be the Jeremiah Dugan of Brooklin NY.

Verbal history has his father working for the company that built what became the New York Central RR through the Aleganies as a powder monkey.

Hi Alan,

Jeremiah is my GG-Grandfather.
The line is: Jeremiah Dugan > Bert Conrad Dugan > Albert Dugan > my Father. Several documents "indicate" he was born in New York abt 1838. As you probably saw in my tree, I cannot find any "positive" record of him prior to him enlisting in Company B, Michigan 19th Infantry Regiment on 05 Sep 1862. If you find anything new, please let me know.

Regards,

B.Dugan
