Hi Cherie,
I have not been able to make contact with anyone related to my branch of the Duggans so far and would be more than happy to find a link with your family. You did not say where Duggan comes in to your family tree. I stated in my initial post my earliest Duggan connections with South Australia. My great grandfather was Denis James Duggan and my grandmother was Jean Nance Duggan. Do you know of any connections with my family?
Regards Jenni

Hello Beulah,

I am also researching the Duggans and have Robert Campbell in my tree. I tried to find him in the 1900 Census in Texas and in Tennessee under the names you listed but had no luck. Realizing that you did the legwork to find that, and I hope you don't mind me asking, could you tell me what ED and family number he is located in, in the Collin Co. census? I am drawing a blank. Also, I am trying to find the second marriage in the Tennessee marriage listings but am coming up blank. Do you know by chance what Mary Jane's last name was? Here's another curse at the 1890 census for being burned. It leaves so many gaps. You can reply here or to my e-mail at bdangelo@aol.com .. If I can help you I will try. I am researching the same lines as Vicki as she is a cousin to my boys. All of us want to get it right, of course.

Where do you get the info he died in 1900? For Campbell Duggan is found in 1900 in Collin COunty, Texas, with his second wife Mary Jane. Campbell Duggan is buried, per family sources I contacted at Forest Grove Cemetery in McKinny, Texas. Too many people get something off the internet, and don;t actually talk to family members. SInce that posting I have done extensive research and have found a lot of wrong information posted on him. It is true that he died between 1900-1910, but he left Sevier County in 1893, and moved to Collin County, Texas. He was married twice. Dicy died between 1885 and 1889, because his second wife had a child Lula born in 1890. I looked long and hard, but he is listed as CAMEL DUGGAN in Collin County, Texas, with second wife Mary Jane, and children Oscar, Charles, Roscoe, Bertie, Lula, and Lucy.

I believe his father and mother were named Benjamin and Malinda.

My grandfather, Thomas Duggan was born in TN in 1884, and married in OK in 1909. He moved from TN with his mother, Mary Ida, I do not know why. He had a son, George, born in OK. The other names are unfamilier to me. If you have any other questions or Duggan names I will gladly compare and help if I can. There could be a connection and that would explain why the family moved to OK. I do not know if they lived in Indian territory.

I have a Duggan family bible. The name on the front is Rev. B.F.Duggan. The birth and death dates match. Benjamin Fedrick Duggan was married to Nancy Adkins Elliot October 23, 1838. Daughter of the Reverend Samuel Elliot. Married in Coffee County Tennessee by Reverend J.L. Hawkins. Nancy was born on October 23, 1806 in Pennsylvania County, Virginia. died June 24, 1888 in Unionville, TN.
Is this the Duggan you are looking for?

I am researching Thomas Duggan who lived in Indian territory, Oklahoma when the 1900 census was recorded. His children are Zacariah, George, John and Eliza. The children, except George, were born in Oklahoma. George was born in Arkansas. Any info would be appreciated.

Thomas Pritchard Duggan b. 1890 WVa m. Elizabeth abt 1920ish in Virginia - need help for marr info and Elizabeth's maiden name

I am trying to find the maiden name of Thomas' wife, Elizabeth. I have been able to determine that she was born about 1900 and that by 1930, they were married and had 2 children. This same census says that Elizabeth was 20 at the time of the marriage...which would make the marriage at around 1920...so likely between 1919 and 1921. Their first child was born in 1922.

I have not been able to locate the marriage information. I am fairly sure the marriage took place in Richmond, Virginia, but could have taken place in Mineral County, West Virginia - I have searched the online West Virginia records and there is no record of the marriage.

I am wondering if anyone has any access to records for this family or if anyone has access to Henrico county records and could look this up for me. I would be very appreciative!!

This has been a thorn in my side for many years!!

Sincerely,
Susan

I am posting this on the Henrico county message board as well!!

Is there a town or community by the name of Ulkine in Ireland?

I have information leading me to believe that my gr-gr-grandfather, Patrick Duggan Sr., might have been born in a town by the name of Ulkine in Ireland in about 1820. I have tried to search for a town by this name on the internet, but have not been successful in located such a town...so I am going to the experts!! Does anyone know of any such town in Ireland? I know from census records that my gr-gr-grandfather (and gr-gr-grandmother) was born in Ireland....and likely emigrated to America in about 1856, along with his wife, Mary, and at least 2 of his children, Patrick Jr., and Ellen.

I would appreciate ANY and ALL help in this matter. I have been searching for information this Irish line for more than 10 years...and just received the information about this town...so I am very hopeful that if I can find the town, I can trace this line!!

Thank you very much for your help!!

Susan

My husband's line descends from William Wilson Duggan, who was the youngest son of Wilson Lee Duggan and Nellie Dorman. He didn't talk about his family much before he passed away in 1973 as he had apparently had a tough childhood.

His older brother, James Lee, had passed away in the 1950s, and his sister, Billie Frances, had committed suicide as a young woman. We know he had a brother named J.G., but no one knows what happened to him. His wife, Nina, only knew that he had had an uncle named Samuel Duggan and that Nellie's mother's last name had been Davis.

I only found out his parents' names through James Lee Duggan's death record (his oldest brother). We don't know what happened to Wilson Lee Duggan, but we know Nellie remarried at least once and moved the family to Fort Worth, Texas sometime in the 1920s.

William Wilson Duggan dropped one of the letter "g"s from his name when he was a young man, but all of his siblings used the original spelling.

Paula

Benjamin F. Duggan is listed in the 1860 US Census as a merchant in Unionville, TN, not an M.D. He organized Benjamin F. Duggan Co "A"--men from Bedford Co at Camp Trousdale, TN for the Confederate Army. His company was organized into the 55th (McKoins) TN Infantry Regiment on January 30, 1862 and fought at Shiloh (with very heavy casualties) as a part of BG S.A.M. Wood's Brigade of Hardee's Corps. My Gr-gr-grandfather, from Unionville, was a 1st Lt. in this company.
Would be very interested in information about Capt. Duggan.
Carl H. Stem
