Its funny, I just received from the Canadian National Archives the marriage certificate of Michel Dumaine and Margarete Pommier from 1784. And now I receive an e-mail from you???

But I have so many gaps and holes to fill. Would love to correspond and exchange information.

But first ... where are you? Are you in Vermont.

I am in Arlington, VA at the moment and will be moving to Boston, MA at the end of the month. I will also be traveling to Boston this Monday the 9th ... so if I do not respond to you for a week I am in Boston searching for
housing.

Can't wait to hear from you...

Jeffrey

However, after reading this message, I wonder if he took his name from the town and where is Musco/Masco Canada?

Hi Colleen. It's very, very likely. Guess where Elzeard and Christine immigrated to: Worcester, MA. Too much of a coincidence, don't you think?

Yes, her parents were Michel Dumaine and Ursule Languirand. I don't have any dates or anything on them. I got this info from a Fontaine researcher. Maybe he has more. This is wonderful that you live in Worcester. I will have to look through my records and see what info you might be able to look up there. Please e-mail me any time: calindsey@proaxis.com.

Oops, I gave you the wrong info in my other message. Christine did not as far as I know go to Worcester, but her son and daughter-in-law did. Eugene Fontaine died and she remarried in Acton Vale Sept. 28, 1899 to Louis Belanger. It is possible she followed her son to Worcester later, but I don't know for sure.

Hi Peter. I've been trying to respond to an email you sent directly to me in response to an old message I posted some time ago. Anyhow, my replies keep coming back saying "user unknown". Could you please send me another email with your correct address typed in the text? I'm wondering if your return address is entered incorrectly in your preferences. Thanks! Carol Lindsey (calindsey@proaxis.com)

Dumaines and Fontaines

Hi Peter. I don't know why, but I can't reply to your email address. I have simply hit the reply button so your address is being copied exactly as you sent it to me, and when I send it comes back saying "MSN user unknown". I've never had this happen before. So guess I'll just reply to you here. My Fontaines are from the Pion dit LaFontaine line so there is no connection there, but I'm pretty sure there is a connection on the Dumaine side. I haven't worked on this side of the family tree for some time, so I'm a little out of touch. I corresponded with Andre Dumaine for a while. You must be related to him. He has talked to me about that same family. If memory serves me, there is a connection somewhere down the line. Wish we could figure out the email problem. This would be easier. I was going to copy the error message here for you to see but didn't want to put your email address out there without your permission. Anyhow, I will try to get back up to speed on the Dumaines and see what I can come up with. Carol

I just read your message concerning Jean Baptiste Dumaine. I am the granddaughter of Irenee, the youngest child, I believe, of Jean-Baptiste and Octovie. Both my parents were only children, so it is fun to learn of a relative, regardless of distance!

Irenee died on October 12, 1991 at the age of 99. He is buried in Boston, next to his wife, Elizabeth, and my father, Rene.

Please contact me and we can exchange more information, if you'd like.

Hi Donna,
I live in Phoenix, AZ. I will look up Raphael and see if I have his parents for you. So far, I or I should say we have trace the family back to Marin Maingot. His son was Michel Maingot. Michel's son Louis-Michel is the ancestor who came to France. He came over as a soldier to fight in the French and Indian War.
I have started a mailing list for all Mingo's and Dumaines who are tracing the family tree. So far there are 13 of us on the list. If you are interested in joining the list you can email me at Momtumac@hotmail.com.
Michelle

Hi Jeffrey,
Nice to meet you. I was just going to send to the archives when I spotted your message. You are the first person I have spoken to who had the exact same info that I have. I was shocked to see it. Who were your grandparents?
I have a picture of the greatgrandparents, and will send it to you if you like. Also greatgrandfather Frederick with his brother Demond. This is very exciting to me as I was told there were no other Demonds living. Aunt Charlottes Mother lived in Va. and passed away 10 yrs. ago. she had a lot of info. When you send my E-mail make sure the Line is at the bottom between my name, or they will not send. I have so much to tell you as I knew most of the family before they died. I will try to reach you via your E-mail. Again
