Louis DuMaine was a creole of color who lived in uptown New Orleans.

He was a member of Local 496, Negro Musicians Union, and was a contemporary of Lionel Ferbos.

Well thank you for the reply. Its funny, I just received from the Canadian National Archives the marriage certificate of Michel Dumaine and Margarete Pommier from 1784. And now I receive an e-mail from you???

But I have so many gaps and holes to fill. Would love to correspond and exchange information.

But first ... where are you? Are you in Vermont.

I am in Arlington, VA at the moment and will be moving to Boston, MA at the end of the month. I will also be traveling to Boston this Monday the 9th ... so if I do not respond to you for a week I am in Boston searching for
housing.

I am trying to find any information on Michael Dumaine. He left San Malo, France during the Revolution (1793)and started a private school in Montreal in 1795 - in Rue des Allemagness(-sp?). He married Ms. Margarette Pommier of River de Loup. I know of two children Francis DeMarc Dumaine and Thomas Potreau Dumaine. Any information on Dumaine which they later changed to Demond would be GREATLY appreciated. Jeffrey

My name is Karolyn and I am looking for information on the Jazz band musician (band leader and coronet player?) from Jazzola 8. He was a bugler in the Army during WWII. Jazzola 8 played in New Orleans and with Louis Armstrong. He is either caucasian or mixed (African American/caucasian). He was married to Anna Josephine Collins. Their daughter's name was Lillian Inez Dumaine born in 1934 and passed away in 1957 at the age of 23.

I am looking for information on Andre Dumaine. Born 6 Aug 1831 and Died 31 May 1916. His wife zoe and there family appear on an 1881 Canadian Census. Noe Alfonso Dumaine came to the U.S. in either 1882 or 1889. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Andre Dumaine Married Tharsile Normandin. They had eight children. One of there children, Tharsille Meirina Dumaine born 1858. Tharsille Meirina married Charles Cote April 9, 1877 at St. Guillaume d'Upton

Andre and Tharsile Normandin are on the 1871 Canadian Census. I also have some parish records regarding them. Haven't had them translated yet.

My gggrandfather Joseph Moscow came to Franklin Co., NY from Valleyfield, Quebec Canada in 1857. The 1860 census of Franklin had his name spelled "Musco". He could neither read nor write so I'm sure he didn't care how the man spelled his name. However, after reading this message, I wonder if he took his name from the town and where is Musco/Masco Canada?

Jefrey: Trying to find info on maternal g'mother, Alice DeMond d. 1926 Clyde, KS. Had Bro. Tom was RR man in Iowa, Sister Mary among others. My Dad says name was pronounced more like "Dumaine" fr. pronun. than DeMond. I know her mother was in KS also. Ever heard of these Kansas DeMonds? Thanks!
