Dummer / Rhodes / Smith Families of New Brunswick, Canada

I'm seeking info about a small group of my Canadian ancestors in the vicinity of St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. Although they had strong ties to St. John, they also appear intermittently in Nova Scotia, Maine and Massachusetts.

My earliest known ancestor is Thomas Dummer (c.1850-?) of Maine and Nova Scotia, husband of Elizabeth Frances Gray (1850-1940) of St. John. Elizabeth Frances Gray was the daughter of Thomas Gray and Elizabeth Simpson, who may have immigrated to Canada from Ireland.

Thomas and Elizabeth had 5 children:

1. William Edward Dummer (1871-1906)
2. Edward Dummer (1873-?)
3. Charles Arthur Dummer (1875-1916) m. Ella Hiltz (1877-1941)
a. Son = Alfred Ronald Dummer (1897-1975)
b. Dau = Unknown
4. Marion F. "May" Dummer (1878-1954) m. William R. Rhodes
a. Son = James Clinton Rhodes (1908-1992)
5. Ida Blanche Dummer (1879-c.1938) m. William Smith
a. Dau = Marion Smith (c.1909-?)

I am a direct descendant of Thomas and Elizabeth and would greatly appreciate any scrap of information about them, the other individuals listed above, and/or the families of DUMMER, GRAY, HILTZ, RHODES, or SMITH in the general vicinity of New Brunswick. Thank you!

Am in search of any information regarding Lena Emealy? Dummer born 1864 in Berlin, Germany. Married in 1884 to Emil Herman Siebert born 1858 in Germany. Resided at one time in Oregon, Illinois where my grandfather Emil Herman Siebert was born in 1893.

It contains the results of virtually all my researches over the last 45 years. My husband is Peter Chamberlayne Dummer. His father was Desmond Chamberlayne Dummer (b.19-10-1920 London, d.21-12-1974 Australia). His parents were Horace Edgar Dummer (b.19-9-1896 Easthampstead) and Thomasina Lucinda Anderson. Horace's parents were George Dummer and Fanny Tatchell.

They separated in 1910 and Elizabeth went on to have three children
by William Alfred GODMAN during the years 1911-1915:
William Thomas, Florence and Ernest John (our grandfather)

Elizabeth Morris is our great-grandmother but we have no
information as to her whereabouts after 1917.
We would appreciate any information that could help us
piece together what happened to Elizabeth Morris after 1917.

Dummers in the South, UK

Hi,

My great grandmother was a dummer, born in Braishfield nr Romsey. Her family are all from Braishfield. I have found a lot of Dummers in the South, especially Southampton (South Stoneham and Bishopstoke) and am attemting to link my family with the families in Southampton.

Her father was George Dummer b1853. He married Ellen Pearcey. I am waiting for the marriage certificate to arrive at the moment. One of here brothers was a lodger in South Stoneham but I cannot find a link with the South Stoneham family.

Anyone else researching in the same area?

Paul Dummer was probably born sometime in the 1830's in Germany. He was supposed to have built a factory on the Lower East side of Manhattan with a man named Carl H. Schultz. He married Adelheid Schaefer Von Beyer late in his life and adopted my great grandfather Oscar. Any information out there?

Looking for any of the Dummer family of Saratoga County, New York. Charlotte Anne Dummer was born there September 11, 1844. She married Robert Judson Hotchkiss there August 21, 1861. I have only found 1 listing in a 1889 census for a Charlott Dummer age 5 listing her parents as a Samuel and Diana. I do not know ifthis is the right family that I am looking for. Does anyone have any other information or have heard of another Charlotte Dummer born where and when that she was?

One of my great-grandmothers was Karolina Dummer born on 6 Oct 1867 in Germany, most likely Strasburg (according to census records). Her parents were Gottlieb Dummer and Anna Diedrich. Karolina married William Valentine Bartoviak on 14 Sep 1886 in La Crosse, WI. They had 11 children. She died in La Crosse on 14 Sep 1953 and is buried there in the Catholic Cemetery. I appreciate any additional information on her and her family. I'm also fluent in German, so anybody from Germany can feel free to contact me personally in German.

Hello Michael Dummer. My father was Clayton Henry Dummer born 1998 Guildford district his Mothers name was Jane Woods.My Mothers name was Young. I,ve traced some of our Dummers back from Godalming Surrey through Haslemere to Fernhurst,Easebourne,Midhurst,Stedham,Cocking,Sussex. The above great uncles moved to London around 1920 but can,t find much on their children as of yet,I do thank you for the info on Claytons death registry at Stepney.
