Wm. DuMont was vice pres. of pentwater historical society, a charter member in fact. I have all of his research and my own. my great, great grandfather was Noah DuMont born 1847, Mich. Spent all my summers as a child running wild and swimming in beautiful old pentwater and am descended from danish pioneers there as well.

Edward Dumont

Hi Everyone, Edward (or Edouard) Dumont, was filed as correspondent in a divorce case with my Gt Aunt, Adelaide Mansfield (O'Reilly)in 1903, the divorce proceedings were brought by her husband, Ernest Mansfield. The next year, May 1904 Edward and Afelaide were living together when Adelaide gave birth to a child who at first they registered as Anita Maria Dumont, but a few months afterwards, after a declaration by Edward and Adelaide, they changed the father's name to Ernest Mansfield - her previous husband. Edward Dumont (I cannot find his marriage to Adelaide Mansfield or his death) was a Master Hairdresser at this time. On the 1911 census Edward and Adfelaide are living as a family at 44 Water Lane, Tulse Hill, London, Edward is 43, born in Germany in 1868 and working as an employment agent. It is stated that he and Ada (Adelaide) have been married for 8 years and they have a daughter Anita, born 1905 in Kent, and his son from his previous marriage, Hans, aged 17, a commercial clerk, is living with them. Adelaide Dumont died in 1945 and was said to be "...the widow of Edward Dumont, Continental Agent". Her daughter Anita was with her at her death. In the 1901 census Edward is living with his previous family in London, he is 36 and a Hairdresser from Germany/Belgium. His wife is Margarethe, 34, and their children Wilhelm, 14 and Hans 7. Wilhelm was born in Germany.
If anybody has information about Edward's birth or death or marriage I would love to hear about it!
Thanks
Dave

According to baptism records, Pierre Dumont and Marie Boileau had a daughter named Marie born 1814 and was baptized at the same time as her sister, Rosalie Dumont, on Feb. 4, 1815 at Champlain, Clinton Co., NY. Rose's birth record states child is 6 mos. old at the time baptized Feb 4, 1815. Record had wrong year on it. Should be 1816. Marie was married to Hilaire Bertrand according to Clinton Co.
Hi Joe
I did finally purchase the "Descendants of Jacques and Marie Anne Jeanne Tardif Dumont". It has a lot of information in it, but not necessarily all correct, or at least not the same as other information I have researched. I am looking for the children of Jean Gueret dit Dumont who married Marie Anne de LaBourliere dit LaPlante and then married Marie Therese Josephte Autin. All of my research has shown conflicting information. Some of the children go with Marie Anne and some of the children go with Marie Therese, but I am having trouble sorting them out.
Any information you have will be grateful.
Thanks Kay

Hi Kay,
Most of what I've found on my distant DUMONTs has come from sketchy RootsWeb trees and the book FILIATION GENEALOGIQUE DES GUERET-DUMONT by Larry Brian Dumont with very little primary documentation dug up on my own as of yet. The book is very good however and I was able to put my hands on a copy of the second edition thanks to a distant cousin Leola Dumont Gagnon up in Madawaska, Maine where a DUMONT reunion was held a while ago. I won't print her email here to spare her spam, but I will send it to you directly and maybe you can still get a copy of the two volume paperback set.

I did find Raphael DUMONT in the book [2nd Ed, Vol I, pg G-11]. Going backwards: Raphael, Michel, Michel Gueret dit, Michel Gueret dit, Jacques Gueret dit [my ancestor], Rene Guere, Jean Guere, Nicholas Guere, Simeon Guere). According to the book Raphael married Elizabeth SIROIS 22 Feb 1819 in Cacouna, QC.

Joe

I don't know about your situation--but have info that Agnes Marie Sexton from Oak Ridge TN area married a "Charles Dumont" and went with him someplace in New Jersey to live in the late 40's. They had one son, Kenny/wife Marcia and only one daughter, Celeste. It has always been a mystery to me as to why the son never had any contact with his father. Only visit that I ever heard of was around the mid 1950's and always told that Charles Dumont had died.
I have received word that the son, Ken has died in Florida this year--possibly March 2009. He would have been app 63. He lived in Seminole,FL area.He had a liver transplant a few years ago and was in poor health. He was a very tall, outgoing, athletic and very charming man. I had always heard the heritage was Lithuanian? sp..I believe the faith was Luthern or Catholic.
If any of this helps you, please reply to my address..southmouthcharlie@yahoo.com

I need some help from somebody who has worked this family in New Jersey in the late 1700s. I have several leads:

John Baptist Dumont (d. Somerset 1777) with wife Aultie, son Peter, brothers Abraham, Peter, Ryneer, sisters Catherine and Jean (m. Peter Vroam), nephews John Baptist(by brother Peter), Ryneer (by brother Ryneer), uncle Hendrick and cousin Peter (by Hendrick).

John Dumond (d. 1777) who married Mary Cardwell (d. 1777) and had William, Susannah, Elizabeth and Mary, all b. c. 1760s. Daughter Mary married James Lockhart Berry prob. c. 1790 and moved to Saratoga, N.Y.

Peter Dumond Sr. of Somerset, d. c. 1780. Peter Dumond Jr. of Somerset b. c. 1740 who may have moved to Saratoga, NY, in the 1780s. Both were members of the Lamington Church.

I'd be interested in comparing notes with anyone working these families. Thanks!
Re: Dumonts in St. Louis or St. Charles Missouri

I just starting the process of tracing my family history. My mother had some limited knowledge of her family tree. Her maiden name we Dumont. Her Father was John F. Dumont of St. Louis and his mother was Mary A. Dumont (Ryan) who died in 1955 according to the death certificate I found. Her husband was Ferdinand "Fred" Dumont and he passed in 1953. I'm having limited success in going much farther than that but would like to communicate with you to see if there is a possible connection there. I look forward to hearing back from you.

I stumbled onto this site while looking for my husband's family line. We are trying to find siblings and parents of an Alexander Guerett Dumont born in Green Bay, Wisconsin either in 1815 or 1813. Does your book mention him? Thank you for your help. Cheri Dumont
