Hi Sarah
I'm afraid that I don't have any information on Rose other than she married Charles Dumpleton in 1892 December quarter at Blaby (7A 122 - if you want to send for the certificate).

The family were living at Powell Yard Narborough in the 1901 census. Charles was working as a stone quarrier and Rose as an elastic warper. She was also born in Narborough.
Charles was born in Hockliffe Bedfordshire althought his family was living in Leicestershire in the 1881 census.

I'm sorry that I can't help you more than that but good luck with your research.

Dear Linda,

I am not sure, but may have an old photograph of one of your Dumbolton family. This past summer I was antiquing in the Adirondack Mountains, and found an old photograph of a woman by the name of Nancy Dumbolton. The photograph was taken at Utica, New York. I don't know how old the photo is, but I would guess 1880s to 1890s. It gives her name on the back, and says, "Mother's Cousin." At the bottom it is signed J. Rose. If you want, e-mail me direct at Lass53@aol.com. I can scan and send you the photo if you would like.

Hi
I strongly suspect that Owen's father was Frederick Dumpleton born 11 November 1863. He married Rose Mary Barwell from Burton Overy Leicestershire in 1885.
Fred's parents were Thomas Dumpleton and Susan Osborne, both from Bedfordshire. By 1881 Thomas and Susan were living in Ashby Parva in Leicestershire. They had 11 children. He was a dairyman.
There is another possibility for Owen's father and that could have been Fred's brother Charles, who married Rose Howkins in 1892 in Blaby Leicestershire. All the other brothers married too late to have been Owen's father.
You could get Owen's birth certificate which would tell you for certain.
Hope this helps
Anthea
Hello Terence

I think you will find that William who married Sophia Young was the son of Thomas Dumpleton and Mary Jarvis from Houghton Regis. William and Sophia did have a son Daniel born about 1845 (from the census). I beleive he married Ann Pedder and was a gamekeeper.

There were sons named Daniel in both branches of the Bedfordshire Dumpleton families but the only record I have of a Daniel born Leighton Buzzard was born 1799, son of John.

I've noticed that there were Dumpletons in Ireland and have often wondered how they came to be there. Can you let me know?
Many thanks
Anthea

He had at least 3 brothers, Ellis, who I think died in Florida and Eli, who died in Spokane, Washington. His mothers name was Nancy and I am not sure about his father. She married Fred Hemmings (about 1912) in the parish church.

His father was Tom Hemmings & mother Ann (nee Shingler) and lived in John Street Enderby and they then emigrated to Australia although they returned to UK during WW1 as he was on the reserve for the Coldstream Guards and saw service in France in the trenches and had the mustard gas burns to prove it.

Does anybody have any record of Clara or her forebears please

Hello Mark

It's difficult to know where you fit in the tree but I'm sure we are related as all the families seem to fit together some how. Have you asked your grandfather who his parents were? and when and where they were born? I can trace most of the families from the early 1900s back to 1700.
We all seem to be descended from William Dumpleton born about 1700 and married to Mary Durley. Let me know if you find out any more details. By the way there is an arsonist, murderer and sheep stealer in the family!
Regards
Anthea

Where are you from Patrick? My maiden name was Dumpleton and I've done a bit of research on my surname. Most of the Dumpletons came from around Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire in England. I was born in St Albans Herts although now living in Gloucestershire. Ther was another group of Dumps from the north of England - sulcoates in Yorkshire. I believe the origional - Amos came from Bedford. I,d be pleased to hear from you as I have other connections who are researching the same name.
regards Anthea
