The Robert Duncan in the 1850 census is my Great Great Grandfather. He is the father of George W. Duncan born Sept. 27, 1843. Emmaline was born Jan. 15, 1848 and Robert James was born Dec. 15, 1851. This information is in the bible owned by Emmaline Duncan in 1870. Elizabeth A. Duncan is listed in the bible born Jan. 18, 1821. There is no listing of Robert in the bible. He is not in the 1870 census or after.

George W. Duncan is listed as a private at the age of 18 in the civil war in 1861 and is a p.o.w. July 11, 1861 at Rich Mountain, WV and paroled on July 17, 1861 at Randolph County, Virginia and discharged on Sept. 25, 1861. He was in the 20th infanty regiment in Virginia. I see that you have the information correct with George W. Duncan married to Eliza J. Newton in Lewis, West Virginia. From 1900 to 1920 I have George and his family living in Indiana, in 1920 I have George living with his son, Claude Duncan at the age of 77 but no longer have a listing of his wife. I do not know when George W. Duncan died maybe you can answer that????? I know that George received a pension for being a disabled veteran soldier in 1914. He came back to Buckingham, Virginia to apply and had several witnesses that he had served with him in war according to his pension application. I do not know what happened to George W. Duncan after 1920. I have no more information on him do you know when he died?? Do you know any of the descendants of George W. Duncan that are living today? My direct line is Robert James Duncan.
