I have a Linton C. Dunson in my family that was married to Eritha L. Shankle. Her fathers will and other papers state that as well her headstone. Other documents state he was the brother of Levi Jackson Dunson who married Amelia Hardy.
Thanks

Hello, I don't have anything on your George, but I'm sure there's a relation.

The little bit of info I have is that a Richard William Dunson/Dunston, son of Richard Dunston, migrated from Prussia to the New World and married Anna Marie Adams and settled in North Carolina.

I have two sons listed, Richard (1751-1781) & William (1754-1809). There may have been more children but I have not fully explored these lines.

Richard was born in Bath Town, Edenton Dist., NC. He died in NC. I don't know who he married or his children. Maybe your line?

William was born in Bath Town, Edenton Dist., NC & died in Oglethorp Co., GA. He married Mary Jane Middleton 1776 in VA.

Their children were:

1. Mary 'Polly' Dunson (1778-1865)
2. Charles Middleton Dunson (1779-?)
3. Lucy Dunson (1780-?)
4. Susannah Dunson ( 1782-?)
5. William Middleton Dunson (1783-1877)
6. Patience Dunson (1784-?)

All born in VA except #5 W.M. Dunson, b. Currituck Co., NC.

The family migrated from VA to NC, back to VA then to GA.

I don't have any George W.'s b. NC listed in my database. Maybe the Richard Dunson/Dunston will be a good lead for you.

Im not sure if its correct. My name is Debbie Williams and my fiancee's name is Robert Scott Dunston. We are researching his family of Dunstons. He had a great 3rd grandaddy names George W. Dunston, born abt 1844 in some part of NC. On George's death certificate his mom and dad are unknown. We think that our George is related to Patience and Ann Adams. Do you have any info to help us?

hi donna . I know what your feeling. There are a lot of Dunstans here in Australia. Ive come across those christian names before. I'll message again with something more solid for you while doing my search. Im going through Dunstans aswell from Joseph Henry Dunstan and his wife Ann Gallagher in Melbourne Australia. They had 12 children. Your branch is there somewhere. Be careful though some of the public trees are not completely acurate I've found as I have evidence of Ann Gallagher's death as 1962 at 80 yrs old and other trees have the same rel as a different date. The same happened with another rel I found in a different public tree when I had evidence again of the mother signing a marriage cert in 1920 of her son and some trying to make me believe she had died years before. So as you can see make sure you thoroughly check whatever you come up with from every angle if you want it to be a true family tree. There are lots of ways to do that escpecially with census and voters lists to check the residences. They are good because usually they give more than one name in the same search. Good luck I hope I can contact you soon with some info. Help is always appreciated. Im the same. :) ps some Dunston's for some reason turned to Dunstan when they arrived here !!!!

Sylvia, I have since found out more about my wife's ancestor. His name was actually John Edmund Dunston, not John Edward Dunston, and he married Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Nuttall on August 4, 1859 in Gloucester County, VA. John was the son of John & Mary Soles Dunston according to the marriage record. I have also since found out that Almond Dunston had a son named John by an earlier marriage. Tax records for Gloucester reveal this. I'm wondering if John son of Almond is John father of John Edmund.

I'd be interested in hearing from any other Dunstan/Dunstan researchers (please!) so that we can compare notes. I have the names of all of mine from the 1750's through around 1900.

Fielding Dunston family of Logan County, Ohio

Hi,

I am doing some research on Fielding Dunston/Dunson/Dunstan who married Jane Cartmel(l) on 9 October 1828 in Logan County, Ohio. He appeared as Fielding Dunstan in the 1830 census of Jefferson Township, Logan County, with his father, Thomas Dunsten Senior and Jane’s mother, “Pheby” Cartmel in the same township.

Although Thomas Dunston still appeared in Jefferson Township in 1840, I have not found the location of Fielding and Jane. One descendant stated that Fielding left Logan County about 1840 “one step ahead of the sheriff” but I do not know the origins of that statement. Neither am I able to find the family in the 1850 census.

By 1860, at least some members of the family have returned to Logan County. Found in Monroe Township were Jane “Danson” with her daughter Amanda in her household, and living nearby was son Fielding “Danson” age 13. Although not found in the 1860 census, daughter Frances Ann was married in Logan County in 1861. Marriages of other children are also found in Logan County during the 1860’s. By 1870, Jane Dunston is living in Shelby County, Ohio, as were her children James, Amanda and Fielding.

Known children of Fielding Dunston and Jane Cartmel:

i.	Frances Ann, b. 10 Oct 1838; d. 26 Dec 1913; m (1) Abraham Burris; m (2) William C. Burris.
ii.	Thomas L., b. Jul 1840; living 1904 Kenton, Hardin County, Ohio
iii.	James C., b. 13 Mar 1846; d. 2 Apr 1904; m (1) Harriet W. Dowell; m (2) Rebecca Jane Burris
iv.	Fielding, b. ca. 1847
v.	Amanda, b. Dec 1849; m. William Burns; living 1904 Kenton, Hardin County, Ohio

I would like to correspond with others researching this family.

Regards,
Marjean Workman

I was able to view the marriage record of Fielding "Dunsten" and Jane Cartmel, which occurred on 9 Oct 1828 in Logan County, Ohio. In the text of the marriage his name is given as Fielding "Dunsten", but in the margin his name is Fielding Armstrong, with "Dunsten" written above Armstrong. Has anyone else found the use of the name Armstrong associated with this family?

I am trying to find information about possible ancestors in California. My mother was born 13 April 1927 in Sacramento, California, by Edgar and Florence Dauphin. Years later, Florence told me that she believed the biological mother was Avis Dunston and that my mother had been named Lily Elizabeth Dunston. It's possible that the last name was spelled Dunstan. The adoption was handled through the Native Daughters of the Golden West.

Alice, did you ever find any other Alman/Almon/Almond Dunston descendants who have information on his line? My wife is a descendant of John Edward Dunston who was born about 1836 or 1837 in Gloucester County. He married Elizabeth Nuttall. We think John Edward is the son of Lewis & Ann W. Buckner Dunston. Lewis died in 1837, but they had a son born after 1835 which we believe was John Edward. Lewis served in the Virginia Militia during the War of 1812 and was the son of John H. Dunston. Don't know if John H. was the son of Almon through an earlier marriage, or was the son of Warner or James. The loss of early Gloucester County, VA records has made figuring out the Dunstons very difficult.

Clayton Mann

Re: John Dunston - 1639 - (Arrowe Reed Swamp) James City Co. Va.

gracie; I am a Garrett and looking for the connection between John Dunston and John Garrett. I know garrett was endentured to dunston, but there is speculation that garrett married a daughter of dunston, yet I find only one daughter in his will. I wonder if she was left out of his will for some reason? Dunston's wife came on the same boat from england as john garrett. So they were acquainted. Any info about this?
Found in an store in Gordonsville, Virginia. A 4"x6" black and white photo of a infant. VA.
Would like to help this little guy find his way back into family hands. Please email me at only_one_momz@yahoo.com.
