I just got off the phone with my 87year old aunt. Henrietta antionette dupont was her grandmother. Mary Louise Leonard was my grandmother. There were 10 children born to Henrietta. Five girls; Julia who resided somewhere in West Virginia was the eldest girl. The second eldest daughter was Marie of Welsburg Wva then my grandmother Mary Louise, Josephine of Welsburg and the youngest girl was Henrietta who was never married. She lived in California and was the first woman to retire from the Waves.

The five boys were ; Frank of Columbus, Ohio. Joseph of Tiltonsville Ohio, Elmer who drown in a flood in Welsburg. The remaining two boys were Jerry of Welsburg and John who remained in Pennsylvania. My aunt has a photo of all of them together. She is going to send me a copy so it looks as though we are distant relatives.

My grandmother's family was from Charleroi. She came from a large family. I am no sure how many children there were. She had two sisters. One was Josephine and the other was Henrietta Dupont Leonard. I do not believe she ever married. She was the first woman to retire from the waves. It was a division of the military. She was probably born in the early 1900's or late 1800's. I believe she was younger than my grandmother. The family migrated to Wellsburg Wva and then on to Columbus Ohio. My grandmother was Mary Louise Leonard Thomas.

searching for info on DuPonts who may have lived in KY around 1835-45. Daughter Louisa born 1833. Parents died young and she was placed with relatives before 1842. Ran away around age 9 and was raised by a farm family named Dixon or Dickson around Warren Co KY. Married at 16 to Edward Colemant, Irish imigrant, in Gallatin Co IL. We've looked for 40 years for a clue about this family. Anyone know of KY DuPonts of that era that might give us a thread?

I have info on this couple in my database. Joseph George Dupont was born 11 Dec 1827 in Vercheres, Quebec. He and Angeline married 3 Feb 1859 in Osseo, Hennepin Co., MN. I have a list of their children if you would like that. I only have marriage info on two of them -- Emma Rosetta and Joseph.

Let me know what info you need. We do not descend from this line but from a sister of Joseph George. Did you also know that he was married twice? His first wife was Dominique Chagnon.

Robert Adolf Dupont was the brother of my grandfather Carl Dupont. They had two sisters: Caroline, who died as a young girl and Paula, who became a opera singer. My Grandfather was a Pianist . Their father was John Frederic Dupont, a wellknown Composer and conductor . He was musical leader of the Nürnberg Operahouse. We know that Adolf emigrated to Australia , married Pauline Couper had 4 Children: Clara, Thelma, Mona and John Francis.. We do not know any more about this part of our family, and would like to get contacts again to them to correspond and close the gab in our family history. I wrote such a history some years ago, which goes down to 1750.

I am one of the grandsons of Carl Duont, who was the brother of Adolf Dupont. The father of both was the Composer and pianist John Frederic Dupont. He was dutch.and was born in Rotterdam. Later he came to Nürnberg, where he also was muscal director of the Nürnberg Operahouse. His wife was Mathilde Lindner, a opera singer from Blatna Tschechoslovakia. John Francis was an admired musician in Nürnberg but of bad behavior against his family.He left Mathilda with her 3 children alone. A fourth child (Caroline) died as a child. Dew to this family desaster my grandfather who also was a Pianist refused to play any of his fathers compositions. These family troubles also could have been the reason for Adolf Duponts emigration. Please give me a reply so that we may start closer connections if you like

In response to your Post regarding the Dupont Families of Orangeburg, SC area, my Great Grandmother was named Frances Dupont and her father was named Jacob G Dupont his mother was "Fannie" his father's name is unknown to me, according to US Census Jacob G DuPont was Mulatto and his mother was a Free Black Woman. So if you are familiar with this Info please contact me and see if we maybe related.

Where did this family move to. Children were 1. child Laura was suppose to be born Trois Riviers,Quebec, 2. Annie I have been told was born or lived in Hurley. 3. Marie Hortense was suppose to be born in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. 3. William Dupont was suppose to be born in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. HAVE NEVER FOUND ANY RECORD FOR FIRST THREE CHILDREN where they were born. 4. Mary Alma was born in Algoma District, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada. 5. Marie Juliette Bernadette, was born in Edmonton. Then I was told Marie Anne Lambert passed away giving birth to twins in 1911 in Edmonton. Then in 1914 Noe Louis passed away in Edmonton. Child #2, Annie. is my grandmother and I would love to know where she was born. I have only one census and I know in 1916 she lived with her three sisters in Lac La Biche and that is where she met my Grandfather Brochu.

so far I can only find my family here in dupont la back to the early 1800 were a large crowd. There was a man in the early 1800 or late 1870 that left canada and went to detroit then to st. landry parish, LA then his son traveled to an area which is now called Dupont, LA and was setteled by one of my great-grandfathers but Ive not been able to find any info on him inside of canada (Charles Dupont Sr) Hes just unfindable in Canada. But im not giving up yet so ill keep you posted if I find you in my tree.

I hope this board is still alive. My 3rd gr-grandparents were Monique DUPONT and Jean-Baptiste CHARBONNEAU. I have searched for years trying to find additional information on their date of marriage.

I stumbled onto an archived post on this board which helped a lot in clearing up one mystery of why I cannot seem to find much on these two. According to the old post, J-B married a Veronique DUPONT after the death of his wife Monique. Does anyone know if the two women were sisters?

died Monday, April 11, 20111,
in Murrells Inlet, S.C.
He was born Nov. 21, 1943, in Meadville,
a son of the late Preston and Erma Check Dupont.
He was a retired employee of HH Robertsons and was a retired credit manager for Beckwith Trucking. He was a member of Rehoboth Evangelical Lutheran Church, member and officer of the King Beaver Chorus, ReCord Quartet and past member of the Economy Borough Recreation Board. He was an avid golfer, hunter and outdoorsman and he loved his four little sweethearts.
Surviving are his loving wife, Donna Lee Dupont, of Economy Borough;
daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Sam Goncz, of Cranberry Township;
son and daughter-in-law, Larry "Chip" and Leslie Dupont Jr., of Franklin Park; four granddaughters, Caitlin, Sara, Zoe and Laci;
three brothers and sisters-in-law, C. Dale and Dorothy Dupont, of Cochranton, Gaylord and Beverly Dupont, of Spokane, Wash., and James and Alice Dupont, of Cochranton; a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Dan Tinkler, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio;

in my geneology I have Joseph Narcisse Smith as Marrying Hermine Dupont on July 17, 1871 in St Edmond de Coaticook, Quebec, Canada. Their Daughter,Marie Caroline Anna Smith, Married Francois Antoine Lamothe on May 31, 1910 in Precious Blood Church, in Holyoke, MA,the same church that I was married in in 1968.

The name DuPont at one time was seperated with a space. The translation is of the bridge or from the bridge. It probably defined a person as living near a bridge

It would appear that the two of us are cousins. I too am a descendant of Gilles DuPont and Francoise Michel. My branch of the family immigrated from Pointe-du-Lac/Maskinonge to Rhode Island in the late 1800's. My great-grandfather, Joseph Dupont came here with several of his siblings... some stayed here in RI, others gathered in New Bedford, MA, some moved to New York (Cohoes and Ossining), and some went back to Canada.

My great-grandfather Joseph, was the third by that name in my line of descent from Gilles, the first being the son of Jean-Baptiste Gilles, and the second being the first Joseph's son.

My lineage looks like this...

My mother Theresa(Terry) DiCocco nee Dupont, was born in 1930 to Frank and Florida Dupont in Chicapee Falls,MA. She was the youngest of seven children. Her sibblings were all born in Cohoes, New York ...Marie (the oldest),followed by twins Francis (Frank) and Earl, Gerald(Jerry), Gertrude(Gert),and the youngest William (Bill). As the family grew they moved all across the United States...Earl and Charlotte to New Haven, CT., Jerry and Bea to Wilmington, Delaware, Bill and Marion to Arizona, Terry and Angelo (De) my parents to Milford, CT. Marie and Joe, Frank and Lorraine, Gert and Sid all stayed in upstate New York. I would love to find out more about the Dupont family. If this helps at all my grandmother was a Tiernan.
