DURA, WOJDA, BIALOSLIWIE

I have now found that my great grandfather Jacob Dura was born in 1840 in Bialosliwie and was baptized, and his five children baptized in the Catholic church in Krostkowo. I am looking for any information on these two families. Their parents were John Dura and Anna Chrabocianka (Jacob) and Bartholomaia Wojda and Matilda Malka.

Any information on this area or these names would be greatly appreciated. They were farmers and I'm wondering what and how they farmed in the mid-19th century.

Jacob and Mary, along with five children aged 1-10, emigrated to America in 1881 through the Port of Bremen. How could they or would they have made the 444-mile trip from Bialosliwie? What was the area like?

As I said in my original posting my father's name was John Edward Sarnecki, born June 19, 1905 -- lived in Chicago, Illinois USA, where he met my mother [Grace]. He had a brother and sister, all lived and now deceased in the Chicago area. My father [John] died in 1965 [I was still a teenager], did not know much of his family, other than my visits to his mother's house on week ends throughout my childhood. His father died befpre I was born -- they are all buried at St. Adalbert's Cemetery in Chicagoland area. If you think we might be related -- please write me at your convenience.
Take care and God Bless. Betty

He was married twice -- second wife's name was Grace [my mother].
I don't know if we are related in some way -- hope to hear from you some day -- maybe we can compare notes and memories.
Hi everybody,
I am Thomas Wieslaw DURA, medical doctor and professor in pathology, at present (for short time) at King Saud University, College of Medicine in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Originally I am Polish, living in Warsaw, Poland. Collecting my publications refferences I crossed "dura family records" - I would appraciate any familly genealogy/references. My father Stefan (geography prof) and my mother Maria (music teacher) died some 10 years ago in Warsaw, Poland. Both lived for some 20 years in Grodno (present Bielorus). I have one sister - now 72 married (and divorced) to Albert Gerlach.
Looking forward - best regards (dura@ksu.edu.sa, wtdura@hptmail.com)
