I'm also thrilled to find this posting and get all the info on Jesse Bugg's family. I am a descendant of John Durham and Martha Bugg through their son Benjamin, then John Bascom, Charles Wilson, Charles Ditzler, and my maternal grandmother was Martha Sue Durham (Griffith). My line stayed in central KY.

Wow! Truly amazing! I'm also related to Jesse Bugg - he's my 8th-great grandfather, and my family (grandmother, dad, uncles) still live in Vallonia and still farm the land that he originally owned.

Where is the bible now? Is it still in the family? If not, I'd love to bring it back home. My grandmother, Avanelle Durham (nee Lane), married to Morris Durham, is still living in the original Durham family house and is a genealogy enthusiast.

I show Carter Durham, (listed as "Cortes Durham by Ancestry.com"), living with wife Catherine (2 years married - 1898), in the 1900 Census for Hurrican, Pickens County, South Carolina. There is one "step-daughter" living with them - "Dora Lee". Carter Durham, born 1823 in the Pendleton District, South Carolina was married before to Hannah "Anna" Alexander around 1846 in South Carolina. Hannah was born around 1823 in South Carolina. Catherine Durham, age 83 and "widowed", listed as "mother-in-law", is listed with daughter, Dora and husband Martin Marshall, in the 1920 Census for Hurricane, Pickens County, South Carolina.

Thanks for the extra info on Catherine. I did not have this info.

Byron K. Durham

Charles was one of my Great Grandfathers brothers. I would be interested in anything you have on the Durham side of things. I have a possible of three kids?
Laura, Bess David. I also have a note that states that Charles was a track walker on the R.R. and was killed when hit in a snow storm. Also that he lived in Losh Run?

If anyone has any information they would like to share I would greatly appriciate it. I think I am stuck when I get to the name Amos Durham.

Arthur Durham 1883-?? Chapel Hill, North Carolina USA

Arthur Durham was an African American born in Chapel Hill, NC (close to Durham, NC) around 1883 and had 3 children by Caroline Jones Durham of Chapel Hill, NC. The children were as follows: William Wayne Durham (1912-1997), Malvina Elizabeth Durham, and Alfonso Jackson Durham. In the early 1920s I believe, Arthur Durham moved north to Baltimore MD and worked at Sparrows Point Steel in construction. He fathered another son by the name of Jesse Durham. As far as I know, Arthur died in Baltimore, MD. Looking for any official records or individuals with any info.

Re: Baby Girl Durham adopted Illinois 1930

My mother, ELEANOR DURHAM BOWES,had an older sister, GLADYS DURHAM MEHEGAN, whom my mother last saw circa 1928, when GLADYS left her 2 children at her mother's house in Canton MA. The family never saw GLADYS again. The family believed that GLADYS ran off with a man other that her husband, EDWARD MEHEGAN. My mother says that sometime in the 1930's, her father, JOHN JAMES DURHAM, received a telegram advising that GLADYS was seriously ill in a hospital in Chicago, but due to bad blood between GLADYS and her family, no one in the family did anything in response to the news. No one in the family knows what ever happened to GLADYS. My mother says that her mother, ELEANOR DRAPER HARRIS DURHAM, always put money in her church's poorbox, saying that "GLADYS" might need it." I have been searching for the past few years for any trace of GLADYS for my mother's sake. She is now 96, and would dearly like to learn what happened to her sister. I have attached the only 2 pictures that we have of Gladys.

Have you ever found a birth certificate for Rosemary in which any information on her mother was shown?

Ray Durham, Katharine Piper

In 1998, we came into possession of a photo album with over 200 photos of the Pfefferle family. We would love to see to it that either Katherine Piper Durham or one of her descendants receive this album. there was a photo of Katherine with her husband identified as Ray, and a young boy identified as Mike. They were living in Carmel, Indiana at the time.
We wrote to 18 different Michael Durhams with no luck. No record of a Katherine Ann Durham, nee Piper. Katherine was raised by her Aunt Etta (Henrietta Pfefferle Flanagan) in Indiana.
The two Pfefferle family members we found do not know what became of Katherine. they remembered her mother with love and fondness, and with sadness at her death in 1931.
Katharine was the daughter of the marriage of Harold MOrton Piper to Katharine Ann Pfefferle. Those of us who learned there was a child from that marriage do not wish to interfere with her life, but do wish to somehow pass on this photo album to someone in that family.
thanks for reading my message.

Bethnal Green is part of London, Kentucky which is located in Laurel County, Kentucky. Can you tell us who Ruth Elizabeth Durham marred? or when and where she died?

The only Elizabeth Durham I have in my database around Laurel County, KY in 1876 is Elizabeth Durham, b. 4 Nov 1874 in Knox County, KY (which is next to Laurel county). This Elizabeth Durham married Wallis W. Lock around 1904 and died of Tuberculosis on 5 March 1919 in Knox County, KY. Her parents are listed as James M. Durham of Pineville, KY and Margaret Hays of Knox County, KY.

Any other info you can provide might help in your search. Thanks.
Byron Durham
Need information on her family.

Marianah and W.T. moved to Bienville Parish, Louisiana shortly after the Civil War with all their living children: Amanda, William T., Jr., Wiley Abner, Hiram Lockhart "Doc," James Benjamin, Laura A., Zelemma F., Sarah "Sally," Claude Franklin, and Phillip Corley. The oldest John Henry was said to have died in the Civil War.

Also welcome information from any of the W.T. Corley Descendants.

Cntact Janice @ YouDee20012001@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

Sherrie: I did a HUGH research project on the CORE family - this is MY grandfather's sister and her husband. His mother and Ophelia's was Arkansas Core Ritchie. I would love to exchange information with you. My granddad didn't talk at all about his brothers - but he did talk about his sisters - and I have what I believe to be Ophilia's photo. I had contacted the newspaper and they gave me a date would love a copy of the the actual paper - I was able to have the newspaper to sent a copy of the obits. I was sadden to learn that you grandmother was killed by a police bullit. At the time I believed CA police were 'out-of-hand' - remembering the Patty Hurst shoot out on TV. I've lived in CA twice - once in Merced and one in Thousand Oaks. Please contact me directly - ewfarm@airmail.net REALLY GLAD TO MEET YOU! Sandi p.s. my uncle was named HOWARD also - I wonder where the name originated - when was your father born - perhaps they were named after 'each other'?
