I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help to you as the Dwire's I'm familiar with are the ones who remained in Somerset County and the surrounding area.
However, William Dwyer b c1725 had a son Shaphet whose son, Shaphet Jr. b. c1796 had a son William b. c1832. I believe he may have gone west but really have nothing else on him.
William Dwyer 1725 also had a son Isaac who died in Carrol Co. OH around 1851. There were several Dwires in Ohio in 1820 census: William, Edward, Isaac, James and Mark.
Your family is on the 1880 census here:
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?P... William is listed as being born in Indiana.
You should try to find obits for Truman, Margaret and William, if possible. They usually contain quite a bit of info, especially the older ones.
Perhaps after the holidays I'll be able to check my files more thoroughly and possibly find a connection.
Nan

Hi. I guess I should introduce myself properly. My name is Donna, significant other of Edward, soon to also be a Dwire. I am gathering information for Ed. Thought this would be a wonderful present to him on our wedding day.

Ed is the grandson of Olive, who is the daughter of Clyde, who is the son of Silas. Including Ed's grandchildren, I have gone back (bits and pieces) eleven generations. Silas' is a little confusing. I have found information on Silas and Dora and Silas and Laura. Don't know if I have two or if Silas was married two times but several children invovled.

The other mystery is Paul. Can't find his father. I don't know if he was never recognized by Olive. Ed says his father Paul never talked about his father. We are going to Ed's mothers this weekend. Maybe she can shed some light on things. Paul and Ruby had five children, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren. Paul died on February 12, 1998 of a heart attack. He also had lung cancer at the time and was to undergoing testing for surgery when he passed.

I would love to obtain information from the local society about Silas. Can you tell me how?

We attended the reunion in Kingwood last Sunday. Unfortunately, I didn't have my information with me. I could have a lot of information gathered there but I will be there next year prepared with pen and paper in hand.

I would love to get together with you to compare notes. My e-mail is dmw@morgantownsurgical.com if you wish to get deeper into this. If not, I would love to see your notes and compare with mine. This is like a jigsaw puzzle. I get excited when I find a new piece.

Anxiously awaiting your reply.

Donna

Hi,
My connection to the Dwire's is varied and many...but not a close connection. Clyde's wife was a cousin to my grandfather, my sister's mother-in-law was a Dwire, and I grew up with Dwire's.
How far back do you have your family? What info are you seeking? The local society has an article on Silas' family with a picture of he and Dora.
The Dwire reunion was held recently at Kingwood but I was unable to go. Did you attend?
Lots of questions...but I have answers also.
N

I am looking for information on a Shepherd Dwire b. abt 1796 and his wife Catherine b. abt 1798. On the 1800 census for Somerset Co., there are only 2 Dwire families, Isaac and Shapat, and both have a male under 5 years old. Of course that is if he was born there.

1850 Upper Turkeyfoot Twp.
Dwire, Shepherd 54 M Farmer Pa
Catharine 52 F PA
Martha 25 1 PA
Chauncey 20 M Laborer PA
William 18 M Tailor PA
John 15 M PA
Hannah 11 F PA
Catherine 9 F PA
On the 1830 census, there is a Shapat and a Shapat Jr.
By 1840 only one Shapat with members of the household that match the age group on the 1850 census for Shepherd.
Could Shepherd be the Shapat Jr. and could he be the son of Shapat and Rachel you mentioned. On an old family chart on the Pringeys, there is a daughter Katy Dwyer listed as a daughter of John and Abigail Pringey with no other information. Catherine Dwire wife of Shepherd could be her, then she would be a sister to my 3rd great grandfather, Kohn Prinkey. I am also interested in Chauncey and if you know the name of his wife. Thank you for any help you could give me.

I think it is great that you have those letters. Could I get a copy, I love the wrighting back in those days but not always ubderstood. I need yo make a call tomarrow and I will get back to you on the cemetery. Did I mention I have Shahats probate papers with Isaac administrator? 1918 widow Rebekah as widow? She signed by marking an X. It starts out:

March 2, 1819
An inventory of the gooda and chattels of Shaphat Dwire deceased, Late of Harrison Township and county of Stark, Ohio taken by Cornielous Baxter, Thomas Swingin, and Nocholas Weaver appraisersapointed by the court of commen plesa of said county. The sale started March 5th, 1819 and it shows where william and Isaac also purchases stuff from the estate. Making a list of what Rebekah keep.

Later I noticed 1824 William purchased land in Richland County, then 1834, Isaac and Ellis and there I see where Rebecca is living with Isaac in one of the cences. Can'nt waite to get this all certified of which Isaac is which.. Mine in the end was born in abt. 1815. Later Gayle
