this might mean nothing but our Lloyd Riddle and Nancy were the parents of the Riddle children; Lloyd died abt 1840 when in his probate he names his children, the 1st born John Y.; Nancy D. Riddle is the executrix of Lloyd's will Monroe Co Ms.; she was born Ala abt 1790 and he in NC Chatham. The marriage bond of Mary E. daughter of Nancy and Lloyd is signed by Henry Meachem (Mary md a Henry Meachem) and also by John Y. Dyches. Lloyd had land in Tallapoosa Ala and my gggrfa and his bro born in Ala-one said to be born Talladega. This was all Indian country; you can see my other posts on this group; i was under a different profile name back then-2 over the yrs, now texiwoman. Ok; Lloyd (Loyd) is descended from Julius Riddle and Tabitha (believed to have been Stewart).

Hi,
I am trying to find information on a Stella Amelia Dykes, born ~1907 to Milas and Mattie Dykes in Knox County Tennessee. In 1924, she had a son, Carl Huff, but there is no indication of who the father is. She showed up as "Louise Stella Hurt" in the 1930 census. No information on "Hurt" either, or where "Louise" came from. Any information on her would be helpful, thanks!

Hi Jean

We corresponded a number of years ago. In fact I found emails dated 2006. I'm no further forward than I was then as regards confirming the parents of Alexander Dykes and Marion Borland.

Have you seen the Loudoun Parish Burial records? There's an entry as follows:

"an infant child of Robert Dykes weaver in Greenholm Son of Decessed Alexr Dykes Greenholm was buried on 20 Mar 1846."

This goes some way to confirming that Robert was the son of Alexander. Alexander died in 1844.

I can't go any further back than Alexander. I think his parents were James Dykes and Margaret Brown but have no real evidence of that.

Regards
Susan

I haven't any proof of their parents hence me contacting you.
Hi Sandra

I've traced my Dykes ancestors back to Greenholm, Galston Parish, Ayrshire. My gggg grandfather Alexander Dykes, born c. 1761 and his wife Marion Borland.

I think his parents were James Dykes and Margaret Brown but I haven't found a definitive source to confirm this. Are they in your tree too?

Kind regards
Susan

My grandmother died in 2006 and her maiden name was Dykes - the family came from the Newmilns and Galston area of Scotland. I have traced her lineage back to 1650's in the Loudoun/Galston area. Not sure where your family tree might fit in - if it is the same family we're researching but feel free to drop me a note with names and I will certainly check if they appear anywhere.
Kind regards
Sandra
I see your post on this site under Lovick and wonder if you have checked my www.RoutonandRiddle.org website to see if I have the info regarding your connection to Mark Dikes? I get lots of email and have also changed computers and with Outlook have not figured out how to transfer old email and so just have to keep going back to the old comp and see what I've got and sometimes just keeping up with the new email coming in doesn't give me much time to look through old. Please email me direct at alannancy@sbcglobal.net. Thanks!

William George Dykes

I see a mistake on the Dykes and would like to warn others of if. People have William George Dykes as born in 1726 in Barnwell, South Carolina.
They have him marrying Susanna Everette in 1740 when he was only 14 years old and having his first child in 1741 while he was only 15.
Now, while I am going to say that this is not impossible, it would be highly unlikely.
So for those that copy others work, take a moment and think what you are looking at. It may save you a huge dose of egg in face.
My problem lies in the report that Mary died in 1786 and there are many people that have her still bearing children long after she died.

Does anyone have proof of her death date and proof of the children of George and Mary Bryan?
