I have obtained a copy of document that was transcribe from an affidavit swormn to by Thomas Dusenbury the son of William Dusenbury and Mary Tallman Eagles which is short, but reasonably complete as he goes back two generations to his grandparents Henry & Hannah (Gibbs)Dusenbury forward to his children, including my great grandmother Harriet Dusenbury Ferry. I will attempt to transcribe it and will make it available to those who are interested. One thing that jumped out to me is that Henry O. Dusenberry, who has often been cited as the husband of Hannah Gibbs. I belief his wife was Sussanah - will check.
Kurtis, thank you for this information as I think it does tie in with our John.

About 3,000 people from New England went to Nova Scotia for the free land given by the King of ENG, about 1759-1760. Many others followed shortly thereafter, but the initial group are known as New England Planter to Nova Scotia.

Our John married Laurene/Lorena Sherman. Their eldest son, William, was born about 1750. Their 2nd son, Jabez (Jabiesh), was born about 1756. John and family went to Nova Scotia abt 1763. John's occupation was that of a blacksmith, which ties in with his potential Father, William, being a saddler. Laurene

No details from the will. John was the eldest son, receiving a silver bowl. John was one of the executors. William's son John and his married daughter Hester Baird had already received money apparently, so John may have moved on, though Nova Scotia would seem an unexpected location without further evidence of why he chose there. Here's what the abstract says:

"In the name of God Amen I WILLIAM EAGLES of New York sadler being in full health I direct all debts to be paid. I leave to my son John my silver bowl with intent to bar him from all other claims as eldest son and heir at law. I leave to my son Alexander all my working tools and utensils belonging to the sadler's trade also my other gun. I leave to my son Thomas all my wearing apparell. I leave to my daughter Ann Eagles my negro child called "Happy" she having already paid me [L]10 for the said child being my full demand for the same. It is my will that my wife Anna shall have and enjoy the use of the house and lot where I now live also my household goods and furniture and bonds for life if she so long remains my widow but no longer than she remains my widow. After her death it is to be sold at discretion of my executors. It is my will that my house and lot in Cortlandt street and also my house and lot wherein Mr Achmuty now lives in the Broadway shall be sold in convenient time by my executors and the money put at interest for the support and bringing up of my children who are under age until my daughter Ann is of age. It is my will that the sum of [L]4 yearly be paid toward the support of my honored mother Margaret Eagles in Jersey money yearly during her natural life. When my youngest child is of age then the money from the sale of the houses to be divided among my children But the sum of [L]50 is to be reserved out of the shares of my daughter Hester Baird and my son John they each having received a competent sum. I make my wife Anna and my sons John and William executors

Dated October 16 1760

This will contained in one sheet of paper of thirty seven lines

Witnesses
Baltus Hyer
Peter Hyer cooper
John Nathaniel Hutchins school master

Codicil I William Eagles being unwell I leave to my wife my negro man "Horsman" and the use of all my estate during widowhood and she is to support my daughter Ann till of age. After the death or marriage of my wife all my estate is to go to my children subject to the conditions of my will. The legacy to my mother is to be punctually paid.

Dated February 8 1765

Witnesses
George Duncan merchant
Jacobus Wyn koop goldsmith
William Smith

Proved October 12 1765 before Goldsbrow Banyer thereto duly authorized

NOTE The residence of William Eagles was on the north side of Cedar street a little west of Broadway The house wherein Mr Achmuty lived is now No 139 Broadway It is the south part of a lot 89 feet wide sold by Thomas Lloyd and wife Patience to Jacob Boelen goldsmith May 11 1694 It was bounded north by Crown street now Liberty street and east by Broadway It was divided into four lots The south lot was sold to John Bogert February 7 1716 for [L]50 and was afterward owned by William Eagles His heirs sold it to Henry Whiteman button maker August 28 1772 The north line of the lot is 56 feet south of the present line of Liberty street Eagles street now Hester street on the De Lancey farm is said to have been named from William Eagles Jr WSP

ABSTRACTS OF WILLS LIBER 25 415"

----------------------
Liberty and Broadway is where present-day Zuccotti Park is, near Trinity Church and ground zero.
The Eagles / Eagell / Eagle Y-DNA Project is in need of members. I am posting this request for members today because there is a one day super sale on DNA tests. (I am a volunteer administrator of the Eagles project and receive no money.)

If you just want to get your feet wet, then the $59 Y-DNA test is a great price. So if you are a male Eagles, or know a related male Eagles, then this is your chance. Just go to this website and click JOIN on the bar:

http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Eagles/default.aspx

They will send you a test kit with a couple cheek swabs and a return envelope. Your name is not made public, it is all by kit number.

36-HOUR SALE!

START: Monday, September 26 (TODAY) at 12:00pm CDT
END: Tuesday, September 27 at 11:59pm CDT

For NEW customers:
Y-DNA 12 . . . $59 (was $99)
mtDNA . . . $59 (was $99)

Y-DNA 37 . . . $129 (was $149)
Family Finder . . . $199 (was $289)
mtFullSequence (FGS) . . . $229 (was $299)

Y-DNA 12 + mtDNA . . . $118 (was $179)
Family Finder + Y-DNA 12 . . . $248 (was $339)
Family Finder + mtDNA . . . $248 (was $339)
Family Finder + Y-DNA 37 . . . $328 (was $438)
Family Finder + mtFullSequence . . . $398 (was $559)
Comprehensive Genome (Family Finder + mtFullSequence + Y-DNA67) . . . $597 (was $797)

Upgrades & Add-Ons:
mtDNA add-on $59 . . .
Worth looking at Elizabeth Batchelor who married James in 1814. He died in 1821 having had 4 children born in Brenchley. With 4 children would have needed to find another spouse, one would have thought. Not able to check this out at the moment, but can follow up in a week or so when back in the Uk. Terry

I am searching James Eagles for a friend of ours. Her name is Linda Black and she was born out of wedlock to James Eagles and Edith "Roberts" Fulton in 1948. Her mother was married to Russell Fulton at the time but had an affair with James Eagles of Saint John, New Brunswick. I wonder if your grandfather is the same one. Linda is now 63 and lives in Saint John. I don;t know if Linda's mother ever told James Eagles that she was pregnant by him. Maybe we can work together to find out more about the Eagles family.

Rick Northorp

I am looking for info on the Eagles family that settled in New Brunswick. A friend of ours is the daughter of a James Eagles who had an affair with her mother - Edith "Roberts" Fulton. She was born in 1948. She was told that her real father was James Eagles of Saint John, New Brunswick. We don't know if he ever knew that he fathered a daughter with her mother. Her mother passed away a few years ago and she could never get all the info from her. It was one of her older siblings that finally told her. She was always led to believe that Russell Fulton was her biological father. I know that the Eagles family lived in Indian Town in the Old North End in Saint John, N. B. Any info to help her along would be very greatly appreciated. Her name is Linda Black and is now 63 years old.

Rick Northorp

To all of you looking for information about the Eagles family, I would like to suggest you consider a copy of the Eagles Families of North America by Douglas Eaton Eagles.

The History and family your referring to is in Chapter 52 "The Eagles of New Jersey"

Thomas Eagles served as 1st Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War in the "Florida and Warwick" Regiment of the Militia In the 1790 NY census of the US, Thomas is living in the West Ward of New York City., and is listed with the following family: 2 males over 16; 3 males under 16; and 4 females, including heads of family. According to Douglas Eagles record, at the time if this 1790 census, Thomas and Magdalen have 7 children, 3 daughters and 4 sons. William was a baby, and Leander, not yet born, would be a 5th son.

This two volume set contains priceless information about our Eagles family linage.
If your interested you can contact Carol Eagles at 1-519-344-6430 or write to Carol Eagles
285 College Avenue North
Sarnia, Ontario, Canada N7T 6B9

Best regards,
Keith Mayes
kdmayes1@aol.com

I'm one of the children of Marilyn Eagle (not "Eagles"), who died in 2001. Theo Conrad was my maternal grandmother. My mother had little to share with me concerning her grandfather William Mullen, as Marilyn lived with Lucille Conrad Mullen from age 13 on; "Aunt Lucy" did not speak well or often of Mr. Mullen. My mother often spoke of "aunt Ada." I was told that they divorced, yet you mention that the census had her as "widowed." Contact me at tomscott.conrad@yahoo.com for more info if you read this.

Hi Ian,

Could you please e-mail me at cgsheldon@gmail.com ? I'd like to invite you to join our family tree website, but I need your e-mail address. I'm a descendant of Doreen's aunt, Gertrude Poletto nee Petterson.

I'm still trying to determine who Doreen's maternal Petterson grandparents are; perhaps you've heard some stories regarding Mr. Petterson (first name unknown), who supposedly died c.1911 during a regatta race in Kalk Bay, South Africa? His wife's name is thought to be Johanna, and she was allegedly adopted by the Salida family, but that's not certain.

We already have some pictures courtesy of Audrey Krogtorp's daughter Joy, but more are always welcome.

All the best,
Craig Sheldon

Victor,

Thanks for all the data. It's really good of you, and I have taken a print-out of it for reference.
These place names are good to see; they give me a flavour of where some of the Eagles were spread in Kent.

I noticed a Thomas Eagles, born 1867 at Hollingbourne. His family might be interesting to me.
If Edward Worels was connected to an Eagles then a Hollingbourne family of Eagles might mean something.
Especially the names of women in that family.

...Just half an hour ago, I joined the Kent FHS on your suggestion!!! Quick work, eh? ...I see where it mentions the Global thing, and it looks like it might be interesting.

...I am already a member of the Lanarkshire FHS up here in Scotland, and they are very good, with a very neat magazine, which comes out every three months.

So, thanks for your help; progress is being made, slowly but surely,

Brian, Glasgow

Dear Brian

Below is the EAGLE family tree in Hollingbourne and other close area in Kent, there is no reference with WOREL on my tree. I have check Free BMD's for Emely & Edward, with no result. I suggest you sign up with Kent FHS, I used to be with them, but my researches ran dry. What they have is a Globel Message board, if you put a message on there you may get a result. I did and walk well, I thnk it cost around £10 PA.

I suggest you look at Leigh in Kent, that where Emely was born. Another thing that puzzles me is why a London Police Superintendent is living in Kent, perhaps the rail network was good.

Below is part of the EAGLES fail tree, another village to look at is Wychling/Wichling, the EAGLES had a farm there, and today is known as Green Farm, there is a church there.

Another name that will appear with our Eagles is PIMM, Laura PIMM married an EAGLES, she was the sister of James PIMM who invented that famous drink.

Descendants of James Eagles

1 James Eagles	1763 - b: 1763 in Brenchley Kent
. +Catherine Duke	1760 -	m: 1786 in Hunton Kent b: 1760 in Horsmonden Kent England
...	2 Catherine Eagles	1789 - b: 1789 in Brenchley Kent
...	2 James Eagles	1794 - 1821 d: 1821 in Brenchley Kent England	b: 1794 in Brenchley Kent England
....... +Elizabeth Batchelor	1797 -	m: 1814 in Nettlestead Parish Church Kent England b: 1797 in Brenchley Kent England
........	3 James Eagles	1815 - 1887 d: 1887 in Cranbrook Kent England	b: 1815 in Brenchley Kent England
............ +Jane Francis Diamond	1822 - 1867	m: 1841 in Lee Kent England	d: 1867 in Deptford Kent England	b: 1822 in Brenchley Kent England
.............	4 Joseph Ambrose Eagles	1843 - b: 1843 in Brenchley Kent England
.............	4 Frederick James Eagles	1845 - 1900 d: 1900 in Camberwell London England	b: 1845 in Brenchley Kent England
................. +Emma Jane Hollier	1849 - 1901	m: 1868 in Deptford Kent England	d: 1901 in Deptford Kent England	b: 1849 in Deptford Kent England
.............	4 Albert Henry Eagles	1847 - b: 1847 in Brenchley Kent England
........	3 Elizabeth Eagles	1816 - b: 1816 in Brenchley Kent England
............ +John Cook
........	3 Mary Ann Eagles	1818 - b: 1818 in Brenchley Kent England
............ +James Bull m: 1843 in East Peckham Kent England
........	3 Thomas Eagles	1820 - b: 1820 in Brenchley Kent England
............ +Matilda
...	2 William Eagles	1799 - b: 1799 in Brenchley Kent
...	2 Thomas Eagles	1801 - 1870 d: 1870 in Witchling Kent England	b: 1801 in Doddington Kent England
....... +Laura Pimm	1810 - 1877	m: 1835 in Witchling Kent England	d: 1877 in Witchling Kent England	b: 1810 in Newnham Kent England
........	3 Sarah Eagles	1825 - d: in Australia	b: 1825 in Wychling Kent England
............ +George Finn	1819 - 1889	m: 1846 in Hollingbourne Kent	d: 1889 in Pichi Richi South Australia Australia	b: 1819 in Boughton Mal Kent England
.............	4 Mary Ann Finn	1848 - b: 1848 in Boughton Mal Kent England
.............	4 Edward Finn	1850 - b: 1850 in Boughton Mal Kent England
.............	4 Alice Finn	1866 - b: 1866 in Boughton Mal Kent England
........	3 Thomas Eagles	1836 - b: 1836 in Kent England
............ +Mary Anne b: in Kent England
.............	4 Mary A Eagles	1869 - b: 1869
.............	4 Thomas Eagles	1867 - 1922 d: 1922	b: 1867 in Hollingbourne Kent England
................. +Annie Susanna Pargeter	1865 - 1958	m: 1897 in Woolwich Kent England	d: 1958	b: 1865 in Hougham Dover Kent
.............	4 [1] Jane Eagles	1869 - 1953 d: 1953	b: 1869 in Witchling Kent
................. +[2] Herbert Millgate	1856 - 1936 d: 1936	b: 1856 in Kent England
.............	4 James Eagles	1871 - b: 1871
.............	4 Anne Eagles	1873 - b: 1873
........	3 Jeremiah Eagles	1838 - 1915 d: 1915 in Egerton, ?Witchling Kent	b: 1838 in Witchling Kent
............ +Jane Creed	1846 - 1930 d: 1930 in Dover Kent	b: 1846 in Newham Kent England
.............	4 [1] Jane Eagles	1869 - 1953 d: 1953	b: 1869 in Witchling Kent
................. +[2] Herbert Millgate	1856 - 1936 d: 1936	b: 1856 in Kent England
.............	4 James Eagles	1870 - 1947 d: 1947	b: 1870 in Witchling Kent
................. +Anne Revell b: in Kent England
.............	4 Ann Eagles	1873 - b: 1873 in Witchling Kent
................. +William Church	1873 - 1942 d: 1942	b: 1873 in Staple Kent
.............	4 Child?

Victor,
Thanks for contacting me.

I know about the marriage of Edward Worels (born 1826) to Emily Bennet, and all the census returns. Emily died in 1892 and he married again. This is the son of the Edward Worels I am searching for.

Because the son was born in 1826 at Hollingbourne, I thought his father might have been married there. .... I have been trying to find the marriage for a long time, and even wrote to a church in Hollingbourne - but with no luck.

The problem is that all I have about the father is that he was a bank clerk, and he died before 1851. But my own father used to say that his middle name was Eagles.

...I always refer to anything to be researched prior to around 1840 is like entering the "dark ages."

My grandmother is descended from this line. She married a Worels in 1863, and within a year she was a widow.
The Worels she married drowned in the Mersey, aged only 28.
He lived at Liscard, Liverpool, and went for an early-morning dip in the river. His clothes were found on the beach.

I have spent lots of money on certificates etc, but this may be a dead end that can't be solved. My hope is just to find out the name of the person that he married, and probably that would be enough for me. ...I think Ancestry are due soon to be bringing out more information about old London marriages for about that time (1820's), and maybe there is a slim chance I'll find it there.

Thanks again,
Brian, Glasgow

Hi,
I am searching for birth, marriage or death details of an Edward Worels, whose middle name is probably Eagles. His son, also Edward Worels, was born at Hollingbourne, Kent on 13 Dec 1826, so I am looking for his birth, marriage or death in that area.
I have been trying for two years to find him, but have had no luck. I wondered if any of your Eagles of Kent ever married a Worels, or Worralls, or Worrells?
Worels is a name that is often mis-spelt!
My Worels also lived in Liverpool, London and possibly Manchester. I believe they were connected in some way to the Holmes family of 44 Richmond Grove, Manchester, especially Doctor Frank Holmes, born 1840 Leeds and died 1932 at 44 Richmond Grove. .....[When I was a boy in the early fifties, I visited the grand old house at number 44 many times as my grandmother Evelyn Holmes lived there]
The Edward Worels, born 1826, became supt of Met Police, and died in Hastings in 1904.
Brian, Glasgow
P.S. I know for a fact that there were Eagles in Hollingbourne.
