I am looking for information for the Earnests of Mississippi. My father is Austin Earnest, son of Jesse Lee Earnest and Lottie Mae Kilgo, all of Houston, MS. I have Earnests in Neshoba Co., MS according to the 1850 census. Julius C. Earnest, (1822-1852), wife:Dorcas (Grice), Children: Mary b abt1844, and Ann b. abt1847and a nephew John Earnest b. abt1834. Mary married E. M. Hunt (my line) of Scott Co. Don't have any descendants of the others. I do know that Julius came to MS from AL. A lot of these migrations happened with groups of family members moving togeather. Brian

I have an Abigale Earnest born ca. 1820, that was married to Joseph Clark. Their family would up in MS. Is this the same family you have info on? I would love to find out more. Abigale is my gggrmother, thru Josephine Clark, Lucy Abigail Dooley, William Norman Rushing

Abigale was the sister of my ggggrandfather J.C. Earnest.

I don't know if we are related, but I am of the Earnest family of Mississippi. My father was JC Earnest, his father and grandfather both were George Green Earnest. My grandfather was married to Liddie Walker and they had 7 children. Amon, T G (Thomas George), J C (James Clifton), Waddie, Lovie, Lorene & Lillian all of Mississippi. I am puzzled. In the 1850 census records that I have found, J. C. Earnest is in Neshoba County, MS with Delphia (not Dorcas) and M. A.C. age 6 and Ann, age 3. Elizabeth Earnest is living next door. This is my husband's line also and an older aunt who would have been the granddaughter of Arminta Earnest Hunt told me that Arminta's parents died and she went to live with an aunt. She was in the household of John Chamblee in Leake Co. Does anyone have a copy of a marriage record of J. C. Earnest? It will probably be in Kemper Co. or Neshoba Co
