No, I don't have any info on Phebe Eastham. Have you seen the book Eastham Generations in America? It will help - you can download it on Ancestry because a lot of people use it in their family tree as a source. Note that Mary Bird in that line was not from the better-known Byrd families of VA. Hope this helps.

don't know if you're still working on this, just starting in my family genealogy. I have Phoebe Byrd Eastham, daughter of Col Robert Eastham and Ann Lawson marrying Rev Henry Hickman 6/21/1773

Do you know who the parents of Phebe Eastham in 1727 are?

The Eastham family was very prestigous and educated. Many of Barry's Aunts and Uncles were senators, lawyers, inventors, etc. And then, of course, Barry's mom married PF Moray who was also well off and had a huge estate in Portland. I've attached a family chart here. My connection is Edna Eastham, an aunt who was my great, great great grandmother - Tricia Mortell

Dear Kiki,
I am the friend of Francis Murphy's who talked to you when he died and said I'd been working on Clare's story with him.
Major crises in my own family diverted my time and attention, I had to move from Portland and all the work I'd done got put in storage.
I recently unearthed it all and would very much like to talk with you about your memories of Clare and putting it together in some format.
As I recall you live in or near Denver (or did). I have a good friend there I am planning on visiting and if it would be possible, I'd love to sit down with you and talk about this.
I know it's been a long time, but I haven't forgotten Clare or her really quite incredible life and I'd like to complete this work in honor of her and Murph who so adored her.
Please contact me when you can. My phone numbers are: 360-943-0307 or 503-422-6983. Please forgive me for not getting back to you. There are many early pictures I would love for you to have.
Sonja Johnston

I also have a couple of things that were brought back from China and given to my grandmother.

Hello. I believe that the Heysham, Heesom, Esom, and Hissem families are connected. Y-DNA testing has shown that the Heesom family of Yorkshire and Hissem family of America are related; they're haplogroup G2A3b1.

I don't know if Eastham is connected, but I do know that a number of variations of Esom and Easom were used by my family in the 17th century in England.

Well, I am late but I just now got you message written 2004. Oh I do wish we connected but our LaRoque first came to Barbados in the mid 1700s. His family then moved up the east coast to North Carolina. This is my husband's family...there are just a few LaRoques in NC and they are all the same family. We moved to Tennessee many years ago. Believe me if we could go to France we would find a connection. There is a LaRoque winery in France. My family name is Eastham and I think Texas is where they all settled. Just had to respond...you have waited so long. Thanks, Anne
T

I found this a couple of years ago and I believe this George Eastom mentioned in this Whitley County, Indiana History is related to our Eastons. John Eastom's father, George Eastom, was a native of Pennsylvania and son of an immigrant who came to this country from Liverpool, England, and settled in the Keystone state, where he lived until his death. George Eastom married Hannah Donohoe, who was born in Virginia, where her father settled when he came to the United States from Ireland. They had six children; James, Mary, John W., Frank, Martha E., and Nancy. George Eastom removed to Ross and later Putnam county, Ohio, where his death occurred in 1862.

Hello,
So happy to find someone else also looking for info on this family.   I did find James Eastham's marriage record in Belmont County, Ohio to a Margaret Lowry in 1826, but didn't find one for John.  Also from the Monroe History;
p 13 March 28, 1860
Died on the 20th Margaret Easthon, wife of James Easton, aged 48 years.
Margaret Easthon's estate, Samuel A. Morgan, exr.

RECONSTRUCTED MARRIAGE RECORDS OF MONROE COUNTY, OHIO
page 44
19 Aug 1856
George Easton and Elizabeth Smith, both of Antioch,
Rev. George G.

I think that means that Mr Easton was a Reverend because on the right side it says Miscellaneous Notes and that is where I see everyone else who listed the preacher prefaced with the word "by"

page 56
27 Sep 1858
William Eastham of Green Twp
Mrs. Elizabeth Eastham of Perry Twp
by H.T. Mitchell

So it would seem that this Elizabeth Smith married George Eastham and when he died she then married William Eastham.

I can't find anything on John or James Eastham (Easton) in PA. I believe that both John and James had sons named George and that might be a clue as to their father's name.

Lucy versus Rachael Eastham

I'm trying to puzzle out if the wife of Giles Rogers (b 1643) is Lucy or Rachael, as there are marriage records in both names, and if so, how do they relate to Rachael Eastham, wife of John Rogers, grandfather of General George Rogers Clark and William Clark (of Lewis&Clark fame.) Rachael Eastham is buried with John Rogers, so this seems pretty conclusive proof that they are husband and wife at this stage. Also there is a long piece in "Genealogies of Kentucky Families from The Register of the Kentucky Historical Society, Vol. III" which identifies Rachael Eastham as the grandmother General George Rogers Clark. But then who was married to Giles Rogers? Any clarification would be much appreciated!

Myrtle Catherine Eastham is in fact my Grandmother and most of her life she went by the name Myrtle but during the later years she did not want to be called anything but Catherine. I still have letters she wrote to me when she was alive and lived in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, as the wife of Harland Searles. I never knew my Grandfather Joseph Adkins (she told us that she changed her name to Atkinson after he was murdered). I never knew my Grandfather. I do have a copy of their marriage certificate if anyone is interested please let me know. I always referred to Mr. Searles as Grandad and was able to visit them off and on during my childhood and even after I was married. I loved them dearly and they will always have a special place in my heart.

I am looking for ancestors of John and/or Elizabeth. I do know there were other children beside George. According to the 1850 U.S. Census for the state of Ohio, county of Monroe there is a total of 6 siblings at that time. If you want, I can send you that information. John was born in Pennsylvania.

I have info on George b. 9/1833 and his wife Mary Camphor. I don't know if George had any siblings or not. Will keep searching.

Re: EASTHAM/AMBROSE Connection, Pulaski, KY?

I come down from Charles P. EASTHAM and wife, Mary BARROW through their daughter, Mary (Jain?)who mar. John AMBROSE 16 April 1853, in Pulaski Co., KY. I am looking for data on the AMBROSE family. John's father was Thomas AMBROSE, of Pulaski Co. Records suggest that Thomas' wife (John's mother) was Nancy WILSON of Adair Co., KY. A Thomas AMBROSE mar. a Nancy WILSON in Adair Co. 26 February 1819. Thomas is listed as h/h in the Pulaski Co. 1840 Cen. without a female of the age to be mother of his family. Thomas and several of his children relocated to Pike Co., Indiana by 1856 or 57. John and wife Mary, Meredith and wife Martha, William, Benjamin, Sarah, and possibly Hiram, went to Indiana. A daughter, Barthena, and her husband, Richard MORRIS, and son Charles went to Illinois, then to Camden Co., Missouri by 1860 where they and descendants remained through 1910+. There were other daughters who married into Pulaski Co. STEPHENS and SMITH families. The family was large and they appear to have just scattered. Any data on any of these persons will be greatly appreciated. I do have other EASTHAM questions and will address those in other postings. Thank you, Mary (WALLACE) Sloan
