Hi Carolyn..Use the drop down menu in the Community section and find message boards...this will give you the option to type in Yorkshire and then follow the steps given by Ancestry.
I would also start a new thread on this Eastwood board...try and give as much info as you know..there are many Eastwoods all over Yorkshire..a good starting place would be his birth location and parents names if you know them. The Uk 1911 Census should turn him up and give you additional information on which to build. I will check my tree too as I have Eastwood Family in Yorkshire, if you could post some additional info on a new thread as this one is getting a bit full now

I just started looking into my family history. I just started on ancestry and have no idea how to find the Yorkshire board. My g grandfather, Harry Eastwood was born in yorkshire on November 8, 1901 and came to canada in 1905/6. If you could please help me with ideas on where I could look, I would appreciate it.

Keziah and Mary Eastwood-Tenn.

I am researching two sisters who appeared to migrate to Tennessee in the early 1800s from Granville County N.C.
One of them had several sons, one being my ancestor Dudley Eastwood. Keziah appears in the 1840 TN census near Mary, her sister. Keziah probably died before 1850. They are both daughters of Israel Eastwood who died in the 1790s in N.C.

in 1835, these boys were identified as "orphans" and presented to the Davidson County TN commissioners court:

"Page 26, Oct. 23, 1835, Sheriff to bring orphan boys into court - For cause shown to the court it is ordered that the Sheriff of this county bring hereinto court on Monday next William Eastwood, Thomas Eastwood, Dudley Eastwood and Squire Eastwood four orphan boys in order that they may be dealt with as the law directs."
Mary is listed with one of the sons in 1850.

There are several families researching your Eastwoods. Here is the information I can see on the census records. Your John Burns was the son of John Eastwood and Mary Roberson, of Person Co. and Granville Co., NC, the grandson of David Eastwood and Sarah Dixon, and the great-grandson of Abraham Eastwood and Sarah Ragan. This line goes back to the 1720s in North Carolina and there are several researchers working on it. My grandfather was John Burns Eastwood from Granville County, North Carolina, born around 1869. He moved to Moore County, North Carolina, and married my grandmother there around 1895. I haven't been able to find out furher back than this. Any suggestions?

This talks about Cyrus (Asa's brother) and says that his father (Cornelius) did come from Holland and moved from there to Pennsylvania with his parents and that Cornelius and his wife (Polly? it doesn't say) had a "large family."

Lancastrian Eastwoods in New York/NewJersey c. 1900

My wife and I are researching these Eastwoods.
William Eastwood m. Elizabeth Ann Berry 1888 in Burnley, Lancashire.
They had four children,all born in Burnley: Sarah Jane (Lister)1889 - 1979, Elizabeth Emily (Barlow)1891, James William 1908 - 1972 and Thomas 1902 - 1957.
They settled in New York in 1910.
William's father was Thomas, who appears to have been living in Kings(?), even though William was born in Burnley.

Is there anyone out there who has an info about this branch of the Eastwoods?

Thanks Andy...I cannot tie them in as yet, sorry..my Eastwood branch were from London too but then went to Yorkshire but around the Selby, Pontefract, Tadcaster, Milford junction areas..Google Brian Townsley Family tree for lots of Eastwood info.The Parsons around the Wakefield areas.Sorry have been unable to help .

Hi Thanks for the relply Claud is my Grandfathers, Uncle was born in Leeds and Baptised at St Peters in Leeds,lived in Scotton when he was 7 then at the age of 25 married Alice Mabel Parsons who was from London. They lived in Victoria Avenue Knaresborough Claud served at 98th Base depot Scarborough Yorkshire Hussars Reg No 330373, his brother David Randolph was killed in action in France after the first world war be became a postman in Harrogate. My Grandfather never talked about this family much but he passed he left a lot of photographs some we have managed to idendify but not this side of the family.

Riley G.Eastwood passed away very suddenly of heart failure at the home of his niece, Mrs. Maud Massee of 214 Alexander ave at 2:30am Saturday March 21,1931.
Mr.Eastwood was born Aug 7 1870 in Lake Mills Township, Jefferson county,Wisconsin, moving to Dunn county Wisconsin with his parents when a small child, where he made his home until coming to California 7 years ago. He had been employed at gardening for the past 4 yeares, making his home at 153 West 17th street in Claremont.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Frances Crosby of Claremont, a brother Charles Eastwood of Washington and 2 half brothers and a half sister, Perry Eastwood of Bagley, Minn and George W. and Mrs. Will Lewis of Bruce, South Dakota; also a sister in law Mrs.Daisy Eastwood of Menomonie,Wisc and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Todd and Reeves chapel in Pomona,California on Monday at 10am. Interment was made at Claremont, Rev Julia N.Budlong of the Unitarian church of Pomona officiated.
Two favorite songs of Mr.Eastwood's "I Shall Know Him" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" were sun by Paul Veely. The beautiful flowers that banked the casket paid silent tribute to the esteem in which he was held by his friends.

Perry Eastwood is in South Dakota 1910 census in PUlaski. He is a farmer, age 24, wife Anna dn dau Gladys. South Dakota marriages to Annie Simonson 8th of March 1909 in Hamlin county,S.D. By 1920 Annie and Perry are in Copley,Minn.

I would like to receive the Eastwood newsletter if you are still doing it. I have recently been researching one of my ancestors called King George Eastwood born 1840, Meltham, Yorkshire, England. From his will I found that he died in 1905 in Smolensk, Russia. This intrigued me so I found that he was working in a Cotton Mill in Yarzevo. He and his brother Mark (b-1838) went to the US in Jun-Jul 1893 to buy machinery for Khuldov the owner of the mill. I was hoping to check the 1897 Russian census to check if King George had his family with him but it would seem that the census is just a head count. King George also had 8 brothers and sisters who I have lots of info on, one of them being Edward my 3x Gt Grandfather. Its a very interesting family.

There is a strong contender for the father of your Israel Eastwood, b. 1818, SC. In the 1820 Orangeburg, SC census (indexed as Earwood, but actually, Easwood) a John Eastwood (Easwood) has a son under 10 and 2 young daughters, and probable wife in his household. Unfortunately, the records for this county are extremely rare for this time frame. However, on the SC State Archives page there are some documents online:

There are some search results for a John Eastwood and a J. Eastwood in Orangeburg in 1819 and 1797 (do a search for Eastwood and all the given names come up).

Hello, I have been looking up my family line for some time now, and for the Eastwood side, I am stuck on this couple and unable to find anymore before my free trial was up.

So I would like to find more information on my 6th great grandparents and their parents and so forth.

John Eastwood was born Dec. 25, 1765 and passed away June 30, 1844
He married
Catherine Osborn, she was born March 1767 and passed away June 1854

With John, I have his kids and siblings, I am looking more into where we was born and passed on along with his parent’s information, and possibly grandparents to help continue the family tree information.
Also if anyone haves information on Catherine, I love that to. If you need more if their information, I give have I have of children and so forth.

I have seen where someone has said that the actor Clint Eastwood is a descendant of Sarah Clark? Nice to meet you too! There are alot of Eastwood's in southern Illinois, especially in Pulaski County. I know on ancestry.com that it says that Wiley Eastwood died in hendersonville, il. I think alot of people have ran upon the 2 Wiley's, but i'm pretty sure the one in my family tree(I think it's a public tree on ancestry.com) is my g-g-g grandpa.

I think their daughter, Agnes Eastwood, married Daniel James McDermott and settled in Morrill County, Nebraska. The census shows them living with David and Mary Eastwood at one point in Nebraska. If so they had 4 children. They would be my g grandparents. Some of this gets murky.

So wonderful to hear from another Eastwood. It seems our Great Grandfathers were brothers. This would make Paul (my Grandpa) a nephew of your G-Grandpa, thus my Grandpa and your Grandpa were first cousins. Randall would be a first cousin, generation removed, to my Grandpa (Paul) and a second cousin to my Father, Darrell. It appears you would be a second cousin, generation removed to my Father, and a third cousin to me.

This search for Wiley E Eastwood has been exhausting to say the least. I have traveled all over Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, and Northwestern Tennessee visiting cemeteries and libraries to no avail. There is supposedly another Wiley Eastwood as well whose lineage can be traced from North Carolina to Kentucky. So many similarities yet too many discrepancies to determine without a doubt (yet?) if this could be the same Wiley. I'd be happy to share any info I've found - which unfortunately stops cold with Wiley. Nice to meet you!

When researching my family tree, Wiley E Eastwood is where it stopped for me also, I must be related to you in some way.

In my family tree, I have a Logan B Eastwood, son of William H Eastwood(b. 1850), I think Logan may be Brownloe Eastwood.

My lineage: Randall Eastwood(Father), Edwin Eastwood(Grandpa), Hosea Eastwood(G-Grandpa) also brother of Logan Brownloe Eastwood, William H Eastwood(G-G Grandpa), Wiley E Eastwood(G-G-G Grandpa).

i also am looking for an eastwood, born in Germany... who had a daughter Lovina Eastwood (listed 1850 census) living in Clayton, NY we think Lovina's mother, was born in New York.
We have not been able to find anything on Lovina. about her mother or if she had siblings.

At one time we thought she was related to Susan Holliday or Halliday. We know this eastwood was a ship captain on the great lakes or st. lawrence river.

My Grandfather was John William Eastwood, he was born 9th April 1906 in Leicester.

He has a Sister called Amy 7, brother Alfred 6, and sister Hetty 5 on the 1901 census before my grandfather was born.

My Great Grandfather was John Eastwood who married Eliza Fowler, He died in Leeds 3rd April 1952.

Would now like to find anyone related to my grandfather as I beleive I have cousins out there who I do not know.

I'm researching Jesse Eastwood--he married a Hannah Boggs and they resided in Louisa, KY. He is mentioned in _The History of West Virginia, Old and New_ (1923). Vol. 3, page 616: "In his town he was a man of extensive property interests, owning tracts of land in the vicinity of Catlettsburg."
