Thank you for responding to my inquiry. There's much I don't know about the family. But here's what I do know...

My grandmother, Maria was born in 1901. She was the youngest of three sisters, Sefora and Deborah. They did have a younger brother, Marco who died at an early age. Together, the three sisters migrated to Colon, Panama around 1915. Sefora married a guy by the name Alberto in Panama.

Hi,

I just came across your post when searching for "Juan de Dios Echeverri". Could your grandmother's sister Sefora, also have been called Sofia. I think my great grandfather may have been Juan de Dios Echeverri; my grandmother was Sofia Echeverri who married Honorio Ramirez.

My husband's grandmother is also an Echeverri from Medellin, Colombia. The family was once prosperous when they moved from Spain to Colombia.

Villegas and Echeverri

Hi! You seem to be almost from my family. My great grandmother's name was Mercedes Villegas Echeverri. The names repeat themselves very much, but they come from the same region, the Great Antioquia. These ancesters are basically from two towns, Aguadas in today's department of Caldas, and Abejorral in today's department of Antioquia.

Anyway. the Spaniard that came to that region of Colombia was Felipe Villegas y Córdoba. Chances are that you come from there. There are several publications about the families of this man. If you know the names of your father's father and grandfagther, I could help you more.

My grandmother's name was Maria Echeverri..and married my grandfather ELCIAS VILLEGAS..Both from Colombia..She had 2 sisters SEFORA and DEBORAH...they eventully moved to Panama..story is from my uncle..LUIS CARLOS VILLEGAS..the men stayed in Columbia..Maria's parents were JUAN de DIOS ECHEVERRI and CIPRIANA O'CAMPO de ECHEVERRI..both from Columbia..

Hola, me gustaria que me ayudases con la informacion que tengas acerca de nuestro apellido. Segun lo que mi abuela me comentaba, mi abuelo, Jose Cristobal Echeverry no era Echeverry sino Echeveria o algo similar y de acuerdo a muchas fuentes, el origen se encuentra en el Pais Vasco Espanol.
