Hello. I don't think I got your email in June. If you sent directly to me, my spam blocker may have bounced it. I don't know a whole lot about the Edgley name. This is my husbands family and there is no one left to ask questions of. However, I will share what I have if you are interested.
Sue Snider

Have more info on Eva Mildred.

Frank Edgley's father was George Princton Edgley born 1854 in Sagianaw, Michigan died 1911 in St. Louis, Missouri. he was married to Amelia Jane (Emma) Cypautte.
Hi Jeanne,
I am going over some old notes. My grandmother was Mary Ellen Edgley, daughter of Richard, son of Isaac. I was looking for the surname of Richard's wife, Mary. Think it might be Hathaway, but not sure. Anyway, look up the USGenWeb Project, NY, Columbia and Jacob and Julia's families are listed in Stockport Cemetery. I have some old census records somewhere, but they have no more info. Mary Ellen Edgley married William Thomas Bennett.

I'm trying to tie two trees together and to do this I need to find out more about Thomas Edgley. He was christened in Wickhambrook, Suffolk on 26/10/1829 and he died 06/02/1896. His parents were Thomas E Edgley and Amy Simpson. I know of their ancestors and my tree is from a different branch but I really want to make a connection to Thomas. If anyone has any info about his family, I'd be grateful!
I have been contacting everyone i could think of . and finally getting somewhere. i was told from edward r.edgley "phone" that oliver had died in hubbard lake" though i had searched alpena co. and alcona and none have anything on him.
so i had someone do a lookup on him for alpena. and found an oliver f. mary and herbert. said that i can contact the alpena library for a copy of the obit for those names
so that is what i did. Mrs. Mary Edgley is the wife of oliver though it doesnt' say. jsut says she was waiting for her two sons to see visit or mail her letters. and nothing. then she died. well anyway. i can copy them and send to anyone who wants a copy. her maiden name was "waltenbury" not waltenburg father was william waltenbury.
Hi Carolyn...
If you still use this message board, please get in touch. The message I saw posted from you is from 1999 so no doubt you've progressed no end since! I am Noah's first cousin three times removed (I think) so it would be nice if you could get in touch!
Regards, Emma

Adolphus Edgeley

I have recently visited Wickhambrook, Suffolk, England to go searching for Edgley ancestors. Adolphus is listed on the war memorial in the churchyard. I have since found out that his parents were James and Betsey Jane Edgeley (nee Shave) who lived at Mole Hill Corner in Wickhambrook. I can't find them on any UK census records.
Adolphus between 7th and 12th August 1915 and is buried in Turkey. He is listed on the Commonwealth War Graves website as being Australian and he was a Private in the 3rd Battalion, Australian Infantry.
I haven't found a connection to me yet, but because of the Wickhambrook connection, it can't be far off!
If anyone has any information, please let me know!

Edgley Surname

I have started researching my husband's family and wonder if anyone might recognize these names? I have very little info on any of them myself. These names are written in a "In Memorium" book for Frank William EDGLEY, who was born in E. St. Louis, Illinois on April 16, 1892 and died April 20, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisianna. He was buried in Brookside Memorial Cemetary in Houston, Tx., on April 23, 1947. He had been married to Eva Warner in Moscow,Idaho but had left her and their five children at some unknown date. His parents were George Princeton Edgley who was married to Emma Cypautte.
Other Edgley names noted in this book were a Mr.& Mrs George Elsie Edgley, who lived in Houston, Tx.,and evidently owned a rug business called "Edgley Rug Works"; a Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Edgley.
Any help with these names would be greatly appreciated. While I have no other real facts on these people, I can share what I know of his descendants, particularly on his wife's side.
Thank you!

I am a relative of the famous Michael Edgley. The present day Edgleys were once 'White's'. Clem and Eric White (Michael Edgley's father) changed their surnames to Dawe and Edgley (consequetively) when they came to Australia in 1921. The 'Edgley and Dawe' duo., played at the Vaudeville theatre in Cremorne, Brisbane.

HUGH EDGLEY FAMILY HISTORY

My father, HUGH EDGLEY, was born on 3/3/1893 in Trinity, Texas; he died in Troutdale, Oregon on 12/9/1964. My mother, VERA BECK EDGLEY, was born on 11/11/1897 in Decatur, Illinois; she died in Troutdale, Oregon on 9/19/1984. My father was in the Army during WW#1, and was discharged on 9/15/1918. My parents were married in Conroe, Texas, on 9/28/1919.

My father had one brother, GEORGE (middle initial not known), and one sister, MARY PUGH.

My father's father, GEORGE H. EDGLEY, died on 6/7/1898; my father's mother, MARY PUGH McCLANAHAN, died on 3/22/1893, in Trinity, Texas.

I am not able at this time to go any farther back in our history with any specifics. My father's mother was a McCLANAHAN. I have a 1917 newspaper clipping covering the death of FRANCES SMALLWOOD McCLANAHAN, who was born in 1836 in Windsor, Bertie County, North Carolina; she married HAMPTON McCLANAHAN at Paris, Tennessee in 1858. The newspaper clipping lists 5 children -- 3 sons and 2 daughters. Neither daughter was MARY PUGH McCLANAHAN, my father's mother, but there obviously is a connection.

According to other information I've been able to locate, FRANCES SMALLWOOD McCLANAHAN's father was JOHN SMALLWOOD and her mother was MARY LOCKHART PUGH, who were married on 4/23/1818 in Bertie County, North Carolina.

At this point I don't know enough to ask for any specific information. What I'd very much appreciate, though, is to know if any of these names have shown up in research anyone has already done on an EDGLEY family history search. I'm quite new to this project, and especially new to using the computer to find information, so I'd be grateful for any references at all.

Thank you; please use my e-mail address if you have anything helpful.
