Hi Leah,
Since posting in November, I have some more information, but I don't think it connects to Robert Edmunds. A cousin who still lives in Newfoundland sent me some info. Anna is Hannah Maria Edmunds, and her father was Thomas Edmunds and her mother Sarah. The cousin listed Sarah's last name as Caines, but after changing Anna's name to Hannah in my tree, I found a connection with another ancestry tree that lists her mother as Sarah Keeping. There are lots of Keepings/Kippens/Kippings in Ancestry trees going back to the 1700's in England. As for Anna/Hannah's father Thomas...nothing further!
~Christina

I am looking for similar. All I have so far is my dad (Kenneth Edmunds, born 1955 in Dunville, Nfld, died 1992 in BC) and his parents (Robert, born unknown and died 1994 in Placentia, and Mary Power, born 1915 died 1999 in Mt Pearl).

I *think* Robert's mother was Jane Fowler but I could well be mistaken on that, and I think his father was Andrew Edmunds (I).

Christina,
I am having exactly the same problem locating Edmunds ancestors in Newfoundland. Do you know if Ann/Anne Edmunds/Edmonds was related to Robert Edmunds, who was born around 1915ish? He married Mary Power (b. 1917 d. 1999) and they lived in Dunville, on Placentia Bay.
Leah
rileysauntie@gmail.com

The Mary W. Edmunds book "Edmunds History 1710 - 1971" states "James Edmunds was a private in Capt. Hobson's Co. 6th. Virginia Battalion of Continental Forces, Revolutionary Forces of Virginia. His health gave way and his son Alexander Edmunds took his place as a substitute for his father. He was at Yorktown when Cornwallis surrendered and partisipated in the last fight for freedom."
I have never tried to verify Alexander Edmunds service, as he was born in 1763, and a little too young to have served in the Revolution. However the James Edmunds referenced in the Mary W. Edmunds book,
( Capt. Hobson's Co. )was not "our" James Edmunds, as he was listed as "deceased" as of December 30, 1777.
Stan Edmunds

I am reasearching my husband's side. He has a great grandmother Anne/Ann Edmonds/Edmunds on whom I can find very little information and absolutely no ancestors beyond her.

I know from the St. Anne's Marriage Register (Codroy Valley) that she married my husband's great-grandfather, John Ryan, on 15 Nov 1890. The record says "Bride of Burnt Islands." However, I have not been able to find her birth record, nor her death record (even though I have her husband's death record from St. Anne's Parish in Codroy Valley).

Any info would be much appreciated!
~Christina
Please let me know if you have any info.
Thanks,
Christina

Hi there!

We have recently discovered that we are of Welsh descent, which makes me think that maybe this is the right thread. My dad is Bruce Charles Edmunds, son of Alphaeus (Alphaus) Charles Edmunds, born in 1904 in either Chicago IL or Belding/Detroit MI.

My gf was abandoned by his father before he was 10 years old, and was raised in Chicago and Michigan. Married Eleanor Connell, 2 children in 1932 and 1935. Daughters name is Jill Ann. We have no idea about the ggf but am interested in learning more. I'm new to all this, the search got passed down to me today!

I hope you and others may be able to fill in some blanks. Thanks a bunch!

I am looking for Jane Edmunds of Cape May, who supposedly married Abraham Schellenger (or Schellinx). She would have been born between 1715 and about 1725. She would have been married to Abraham between about 1740 and 1759. (He died intestate in 1759.) I do not know who were her parents. Was there a Jane among the Edmunds families in Cape May about that time? It is also possible that she was the widow of an Edmunds and afterwards married Abraham. Any ideas?

Looking for information of why James ( born 1850) was living with Mary White widow of Issac Anson White in 1860 address listed as Douglas, Montomery, Iowa.
He may of been brought across from Ireland at aprox. four years of age, by the Uncle (?), after parents had died. Seversl census records say he was born in Indiana, but one also state Ireland and that is the family story. There may of been some brothers also IA Edmonds born 1853.

Just found your message in appears to be quite old, I happened across a web site www.bobedmunds.com which did contain the names of Gerda & Bob which you had in your message Sept. of 2001. My dad was Edward W. Edmunds of Framingham, MA - his dad was Walter, I know we used to be pretty close to Al Edmunds originally of Weston MA, and I think I also remember a Uncle Clarence that lived somewhere near the Cape.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Lori Anderson

Hello Glenn
I,m pretty sure were not related. My great grandfather Robert came to Australia in 1885 with his son Harry and lived near Mackay Qld. Robert had a brother George who lived near Totnes in Devon and another brother Edward who went to Massachuetts USA. They had about 6 half brothers and sisters named Drew who lived in Totnes Devon. I dont think we have any other Edmunds relatives in Australia.
All the best Keith
