Hi Lyndon
Having problem sending reply. Ivy mentions andrew and Christopher. Ivy Hawkins lived with edwin and vi in Hartlepool i know they were there in 1919 and family home and moved to Harrogate about 1955 Leeds Road flat. Photo amazing I am sure it is Sarah Eggleton as looks so like her daughter Rhoda at that age and so like Hannah Englefied when old. Edwin Hawkins son was killed in First World War could be tom or charles and brother william maybe. I sort of remember a Captain Hawkins mentioned. Rhoda's husband Tom Forster from Gosforth Newcastle.
dorothyforster
I was wrong about names of Edwin's sons.
Edwin on census calls himself Edward born at Hurst Berkshire 1863 he married Mary Ann born 1859 at Ardington Berkshire. His children were George possible E. (Edward for second name 1894 killed Private 1917 Cecil S.(Stanley) 1895 then Violet P. 1897 and Ivy May 1902. They all lived in Hartlepool. George (E.)? may have been born in Newton Le Willows.

Hi Dorothy

I believe that Marjorie and you are 'second cousins'. That is, your mother and Stanley Victor Eggleton (Marjorie's father) were 'first cousins'. Apparently, it's all down to the 'number of generations' from a common ancestor (George Eggleton). It can be a bit confusing, I have to say...

Thank you Lyndon
Yes that is the beautiful photo I saw. Ivy Eggleton will have had my address in her address book in my married name. I have her old address does anyone still live there? My mother had two brothers Ernest and Maurice Dennison much older than her. Rhoda married Thomas Davies Forster and had one daughter me. Ernest married Nellie and had one daughter Elizabeth one son married no children. Maurice married 'Pop' Laura and had one daughter Beryl two children and one grandchild. I have taken after my ancestors and have 5 chn and 11 grandchildren 6 boys and 5 girls. Ernest lived in London Croydon and Maurie in Southsea near portsmouth i am still in the north. Marjorie and I are cousins once removed or half cousins I do not know which is correct. Life is very busy I am not very good with computers keep making mistakes!
Dorothy

I spoke to my mother (Marjorie) yesterday. She has heard the name Dennison mentioned in the family before and she knew of (distant) relatives in Yorkshire. She has often mentioned the confusion around 'Cis' as well. She also has a box belonging to George Thomas Eggleton containing lots of memorabilia that got passed down from Ivy Eggleton.
The photo I referred to was the 'Railway Cottage' one with the Salvo Tricycle by the front door. It's up on http://mfo.me.uk/showmedia.php?mediaID=1020, is that where you saw it?

I believe that mum has some other photos of Sarah Hannah Eggleton when she was a little girl.

Thanks for the information you have shared, I will show it to mum when I next see her. She's not as good on computers as you are...

Hi Dorothy

Have you seen the Eggleton's Sonning/Woodley house photo? I have been to the house and spoken with the current owners (very nice people) and they have a copy of that photo in their house. So James Eggleton and all his family are 'back home'...
If you want I can send you a .jpg image of the photo.
Andrew and Christopher are my brothers (both fine) and Marjorie is my much loved mother, now 86 and still going strong.

hello to Marjorie
I saw photo of railway cottage yesterday and it gave me such a thrill to see the family shivers infact as no photos of berkshire family. is sonning woodley another photo? yes please if so. my grandmother sarah dennison married again when my mother about 8 I think to William Turtle so she changed her name to Turtle. I thought Cis meant she was cecilia as my mother knew she was cis but of course always called her mother! and we did not know of second name hanna. Her sister Rhoda Grace Eggleton I was told died when she was aged 21 was it spanish flu? that was before my mother was born in 1912 and why she was called Rhoda I think
Dorothy

Hi Dorothy. We share ancesters George Eggleton and Rhoda Watson Hawkins. Their daughter Sarah Hannah Eggleton was my GGF's (George Thomas Eggleton's) older sister. I have a fantastic photo of Sarah Hannah Eggleton aged about 6 with most of her family standing in front of their house in Woodley/Sonning in about 1880. Would you like me to send you a copy (.jpg)? Ivy used to spend Christmas with us and lived until 1990 (very nearly 80 years old).

I believe the Eggleton's came to the United States from England (I could be wrong. The family history is that my family settled in Henry County Virginia. I am trying to find out what year they moved to my area in WV from VA - and hopefully, trace the family line back to England. I am very proud to be an Eggleton!

Hi Jennifer,I am also researching the Eggleton/Egleton /Eagleton of Buckinghamshire. And I also came up with John Eggleton marrying Sarah East at Monks Risborough. My husband's line is Adrian Eagleton son of John and Mary,of Ashendon and they are all descendants of William and Katheryn of Ellesborougyh,Buckingham. Do you have the parentage of John Eggleton who married Sarah in 1800?As I think this will conbine alot of the family research that I have done and will be willing to share with you.
Pat in Western Australia.
email is olmanemu@iinet.net.au

I am trying to uncover information on the family of Robert Eggleton ( Eagleton / Eagleson ) who would have been born before 1832 and l believe lived in Norfolk, possibly Fakenham around 1871.

His son John, my great grandfather enlisted in the 27th Inniskilling Regiment when they were stationed in Colechester, he was noted as being from Fakenham, came to Belfast with the regiment, married and had children.

On John's marriage certificate in 1876, his father Robert was noted as being a Carpenter & Wheelright by profession.

I have been stuck with the origins of John for many years so this connection is a recent breakthrough and I am hopeful of making contact with others who have connections to this family.

Happy hunting

Jackson

I have a Harriet Eggleton born 1838 in Sulhamsptead, Berkshire. Harriet married George Higgs in 1857 then they lived in Mortimer, Berks.

Her parents, I believe are William and Eliza Eggleton.

William was christened in 1819 in Uffington, died in 1889 and Eliza born around 1814 in Hampshire (no maiden name) and died around 1876 in Berkshire.

In 1841 William and Eliza were living in the Parish of Upton, Berks.

Does anyone have any info on William & Eliza, as I am unable to find any siblings of Harriet at this time.

Kind Regards
Kathie.

Will you be here for the Art Deco weekend?
Did some of the Wooster's land up here or are you going to the Latter Day Saints place?
My grt grandmother was Mary White and her mother was Mary Eggleton, eldest child of John and Sarah. I cannot believe the number of people who have Ann Wooster as the children's mother but then the IGI has her listed as such so I suppose I can't blame them.
My phone number is 06 8355360.
Best Wishes,
June.
