Ida Elberts - Daughter of Wilson and Mary Gilbert Elberts

I have a 2005 family list:
Wilson was born 22 Aug 1844 in Calhoun County (no city), IL; he was married in Jersey County, IL (no date, no city). He died 11 July 1921 in Kane, Greene County, IL.
Children: (no birthdates or location)
George Elberts
Jennie Elberts
Ida Elberts
Ella Elberts b 29 Feb 1868 in Green County IL
Eliza Ann Halbert b 5 Mar 1878 in Greene County, IL
John Willie Halbert b 12 May 1881 in Greene County, IL

I assume there has been some information collected on Ida since my 2005 post.

She married my Dr. Henry Lightbourne Bawden (his 2nd) in Davenport, Scott, IA on 17 Dec 1902. On 30 November 1904

Ida sued for divorce on the grounds of habitual drunkenness and cruel and inhuman treatment. Dr. Bawden retired from medical practice and moved to Montana.

My resource has nothing about her...no birth or death date.

If this family - Halbert, Elbert, Elberts, Alberts is in your tree, I'd love to know more about her.

Simon Elbert is my Great Grandfather he came to the US from a small town outside of Ausaffenburg, Germany. Sorry, do not have the name of the top of my head would have to look it up. I have visited Ashffenburg and it is a beautiful city, lots of Elberts in the phone book. He came through Flannigan, Ill and settled in Whittemore, Iowa where he was a farmer. Again, would have to look it up but believe he had seven children one, John J, was my Grandfather. We know little of Simons life in Germany other than he started a volenteer fire department in the village outside of Ashffenburg and that he left a half brother there, so if anyone has more details, I would love to hear them.

Henry Lightbourne Bawden (Lighthouse in some resources), son of Stephen and Mary Terrill Bawden, married Ida Elbert(s), and I have 2 sets of names for her parents. (1) Wilson and Mary Gilbert Elbert(s) and (2) John and Elizabeth Stacy Elbert(s).

I have 2 birthplaces: Davenport, Scott, IA, and Greene County, IL, sometime in the late 1860s.

They were married 17 Dec 1902 in Davenport, and they were divorced 29 Dec 1904 for Henry's "habitual drunkenness and cruel and inhuman treatment".

If this couple is in your tree, I'd love to know more about Ida.

There's no Elberts board and I'm not sure which way the name is spelled.

Could be any country you listed. My family is from Germany. A family in the town we live in now are from Great Britain. I think Elbert is a common name, making it even harder to track.

Hi cousins, I am wondering if someone could help me. My grandfather was Chester Elbert. I can trace his line back to Arthur Elbert, but haven't seen that name in any other listing. Does anyone have any information on Arthur ?-1846 who married Elizabeth Crouch 1771-? They married in 1803. Also, where did the Elberts come from? I have heard England, Scotland and Wales. Carrie Elbert married an Arto late 1800's/early 1900's family was in Galveston - think they survived the 1900 storm....some of my relatives did who were in Texas City..
Also Elbert name is Benjamin, Caroline, Joseph...all Catholic

Dora;s obituary was publishes on 1-22-1965 in the Mason City Globe-Gazette in Mason City, Iowa. It does not give a reason fro her death, but says she died in a nursing home where she had been a patient for the last two years> I get these from a service so I cant email it to you, but we be happy to send you a copy if you like.

I am not sure, but doubt that they were Jewish. Most of the Elberts in Iowa, seem to be Catholic. I will let you know if I find out different. I will see if I can get his obit.

Angie, I am so utterly sorry to hear about Cherie. I will always hold her special to my heart and she'll always have a place with me that I will cherish always. Please pass on my thoughts and wishes to your family and know that I loved her and entirely regret not staying in touch with her throughout the years. It's unfortunate when things don't quite work out the way that you would like. Cherie and I connected down deep for the time that we spent together, and I had the opportunity to know how beautiful she was, inside and out. You were awesome to correspond with me for awhile, and I hope to have the chance again. It's amazing that something I posted 9 years ago thrives today. I went to hairdressing school with Cherie and found her to be even more amazing. We managed to be close through the schooling and she stayed working in the field while I sowed in different fields in scattered parts of the east coast. If anyone can reach her and pass on all of our good thoughts and wishes to her and her family, then life really could become full circle. I am in New England now and manage to get to Michigan every couple years or so. If I tracked her down before my next trip, then all of this would be awesome!

I dated Cherie adopted father Chuck Elbert in the early 70's when he had custody of both Cherie and his daughter Angie. I was very close to Cherie and through that relationship became friends with her mom, Kathy. We stayed in touch for a number of years but with lifes twists and turns lost it.

I did a search for Cherie and was driven to this site where others were looking for her as well.

Your info is correct. I dated her in the middle to late 70 (cherie). Her parents lived in Brighton. Still do I think. Bud is a nice guy I thing they still live there. When I last talked to them they had not seen her. Was a long time ago.

Henry Dalton Elbert did have a son named Henry Young Elbert s/o Henry Dalton Elbert and Elizabeth Young. He moved with his father to KY the migrated to Mo in 1836. He was the half brother of my gr grandfather. joy

Somewhere in myt files I have informatiom on the family of Henry Young Elbert. I haven't followed it too closely because at my age I figure I will do well just to get our direct line complete. Henry Young Elbert, s/o Henry Dalton Elbert and Elizabeth Young Elbert Henry left Md after the death of Elizabeth and moved to KY . He remarried and had two more children the youngest my gr grandfather John Lodman Elbert the half Brother of Henry Young. In 1836 Henry Young migratd to Mo and he was in a train with the McDaniel fammly so you are probable right about your grgrgrandmothers family. I have been told that that branch of the Elbert family has a Reunion in TX every year. Have not ever been able to go. I will look for the records I have. Joy jmerri295@aol.com

My wife's gr-gr grandmother was Julia Fisher Elbert (1858-1939). We have a picture of her and her husband, Henry Austin Lott. I believe Julia's father was Roland McDaniel Elbert, possible son of Henry Young Elbert. I am interested in expanding my wife's Elbert line. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Were you ever able to locate Cherie? I was justing thinking about her and decided to do a google search. I know that Cherie's sister's name is Angie and her father is Chuck Elbert and her mom's last married name was Miller (Kathy). I haven't been in touch with any of them in years and would like to speak with Cherie if you have found her. I used to date her father in the early 70's and was very fond of her.
