My line is from Indiana as well. My great grandfather Vern Palmer Elijah had a son Herschel and then divorced and moved to Ohio (Hebron Ohio Licking Cty) where he married my great grandmother Cordelia Baker (her second marriage as well) and then they had two daughters: my grandmother Marjorie Elizabeth Elijah and her sister/my great aunt Ethel Lucille Elijah. Herschel Jr. is still alive and on the message boards here and he probably has some info on the Indiana side since it was his father that was still living there when his grandfather divorced and moved. I am so excited to finally find a link I would love to find out where the family originated. I have a photo of Vern and his father and grandfather if you want it I can email it to you.
Tricia trajo37@yahoo.com

This is what I am trying to find out b/c Elijah is a Hebrew name I thought. I looked it up in a name origin search and it said Welsh, Jewish & American stemming from Hebrew/Biblical Elijah. But I haven't been able to actually get far enough up on the family tree to see where they came from yet. Hope someone can help me as well!
Tricia

Terry,
Thankyou so much for e-mailing me and especially for the pictures! That was very generous of you to do for me and you don't know how much it means. My great aunt Ethel Elijah is in her seventies and the only child of Vern left that I know of... unless Hershel is still living. She is going to be elated when I show her the pictures and the family history. Thanks again!
We have quite a bit of information about them that I will be happy to share if we find a connection with Richard...do you know who his father was?

I would go back to New York state- re- Lewis Elijah (1st) ( prior to 1835) a family in which Lewis Elijah the( 2nd) was a child ( of 12 or 13 children)-I believe that she was a sister to Lewis Elijah the 2nd . If this is true then 2 of the brothers settled at Clarance , Iowa and at least one of them at Morocco, Indiana . I have some of info on this family but will not be working on it again until - probably January. Sincerely Terry - keep in touch if this is the correct link .
