Ellen Marion “Nellie” Elliott was born 30 Aug 1889 in Eastbourne East Sussex UK to Eleanor Ellen Elliott, single mother, who gave Nellie up for adoption to Bernardo's Children's Homes.

I am looking for family of Eleanor.
I know this about her from Bernardo's records:

Eleanor was a live-in domestic servant at the home of her uncle Edwin Elliott at 78 Ashford Road, Eastbourne when Nellie was conceived 1888. No info on the father.

I am searching for the parents of my Stephen Elliott born in 1788 in SC. I have been considering this Archibald/William, father and son as possible connection.
The reason, I find a William Elliott in Warren Co., Tn along with Stephen Elliott on the 1812 Tax list.
We feel there may be a connection between William and Stephen. Stephen named his first son Henry so that is interesting that the name of the prospective brother just older than he is given to Stephen's eldest son. Stephen's son names his frst born twin son William, the other James. I honed in on this county while doing research for my John Downing DAR application. Downing is from Chester County and on the 1790 cesnsus, Downing's son Andrew is living next door to his father on one side and William Elliott on the other. Isaac Eoff is also in this county and it is his granddaughter Margearett Eoff who married Stephen Elliott's son James Monroe. Somewhere I think I recall seeing Stephen's name with a middle initial M. Since he is found in TN in 1812, his name could have been lost to later generations. or are you certain that you have all the names?

ZANESVILLE: Elsie Elliott McLees, 98, formerly of Zanesville and New Concord, Ohio went to her final glory on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Forestview Health Campus, Zanesville, Ohio.

Elsie was born February 3, 1914, in Rich Hill Township, Muskingum County, Ohio to the late Ray W. and Martha Watson Elliott. She was the eldest of seven children.
Elsie graduated in 1932 from the last class of Rich Hill High School and played girls basketball earning a school letter.
She married Lewis "Gail" McLees, October 1933, and he died January l981.

She was a farmer's wife and when her eldest daughter went to college she started working outside the home at Baker's Restaurant, Mosaic Tile, then taught herself typewriting and started working for McKee Grange Insurance as a secretary, clerk, and agent earning her broker's certificate.
She was a lifetime member of the Rix Mills Presbyterian Church, held several officers positions and taught Sunday school.
She was a member of the Rix Mills Homemakers' Club, Rich Hill Grange, was a former 4-H advisor and was a volunteer at Bethesda Hospital for 40 years accumulating 11,885 hours.

At the age of three, she was struck by lightning that came down the chimney and was reported by the newspaper to be fatally injured. As we know, this wasn't the case.

She is survived by four daughters, Eleanor Neal Aven of Spring City, Pa. Gayla (Earl) Smith of Norwich, Ohio, Janet Drake (Larry) Sebach of Zanesville, Ohio, and Martha "Marti" (Dick) Hughes of New Concord, OH; sisters, Lenna A. Nowels of Loudonville, Ohio and Edith (Charles) Hahn of Columbus, Ohio; and brother-in-law Robert Tom of Chandlersville, OH; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and their wives, F. Irvine and Marge Elliott and J. Lawrence and Betty Elliott; and two sisters Genevieve Elliott Peyton Brown and Ada Elliott Tom; and brother-in-law, Jack Nowels.

Visitation hours will be held Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 2 P.M. - 5 P.M. at the Mock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 West Main Street, New Concord, Ohio.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Rix Mills Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Gibson officiating.
Interment will be in Salt Creek Cemetery near Rix Mills, Ohio.

I've been searching everywhere I can think of looking for My William (Henry) Elliott. I'm planing a a road trip to Port Hope soon to "Crawl" around St. Johns hoping to fine a head stone. 1834. His remarried wife Ann Elliott (trotter) is buried there also.

Leticia Almeda Elliott (1878-1948) was married to Frederick Moore (1884-?) bith buried St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Smiths Falls

Catherine Maria Elliott (her sister) 1864-1931 married to John Smith 1851-? died in Brockville but not sure where she is buried.

I have a more recent Catherine Mildred Elliott but probably not of interest.

The names are not unusual so chances are they're not the ones you're looking for but thought I'd pass them on.

I just responded to one of your post and then read this one.

Believe it or not I was at St. John's Anglican Cemetery looking form my Elliott relatives TODAY but this cemetery was in Smiths Falls. Is it possibly the one you are referring to or is your St. John located in Port Hope?

I found a name that was not familiar to me but would fit in with dates I have for John and Frances Elliott. Perhaps she was their sister?

Just wondering if there might be a connection between your william and my John Elliott. He was born 7 Apr 1810 in Artinaugh Townland, Co. Fermanaugh. He immigrated to Merrickvile, Ontario with his wife Jane Philips about 1840. I think he may have had a brother Francis who also immigrated to Merrickville, although I can't confirm this.

Do any of these places/names sound familiar. Is it possible WIlliam, John and Francis are brothers and immigrated to canada at different times?

I have Elliott ancestors in Pennsylvania. The earliest was George Elliott born about 1779 in Belfast, Ireland. Came to America in 1792. Married Elizabeth Henry in Mifflin County in 1806. Had many Elliott sons: James, Thomas, William, John, George Joseph and Harrison. George died in 1853 in Clarion County.

I would like to see the info you have on the Elliott family in PA in the 1700s. My 5Ggrandfather Robert Elliot(t) (1753-1823) of Monaghan Twp, York Cty, PA, had a brother named Joseph, but I find no William in this family. One of Robert's sons was named William, born ca 1780. Robert's father was Andrew Elliot(sp) of East Caln Twp, Chester Cty, PA, a possible Ulster immigrant.

I had a lady in the Cumberland PA area do some research on William Elliott who would've been Joseph's father and I believe there was a Martha listed on there who would have been his wife. Esther was the daughter of John Elliot (May 16, 1806-Dec 24, 1874) and Susanna Dawson (Feb 27, 1806-Feb 24, 1863). They were from Yorkshire England.

The children were:
George, born 1850. Dissapeared from Winnebago county. Nothing additional.
Elizabeth, No information
Hannah, No information.
Susan, born 1837
Ann, born 1841, married Alexander Falconer
John, born Feb 27,1844, died in the Civil War Jan 15, 1863
ESTHER, born 1846. Esther married James Falconer on Dec 19, 1867.
Ellen, born 1849
Emma, born 1849, died Feb 18, 1892

There is some confusion as to whether Ellen and Emma may be one and the same. Historical accounts say there were 7 children.

Samuel Elliott

He was born in Ohio but with his parents William and Betsey in Michigan in 1870. From what I gathered, he is a much younger brother to Randolf, Angelica, delight, Martin and Silas. Just interested in finding more about him or his siblings. Silas is my ancestor.

Hi Sally, this is a long shot I know as your original post was several years ago, but the Francis James Elliot you are asking about was my great grandfather too. His daughter Sarah Florence was my grandmother and he lived with my mother's family for many years. Alice Ellen Angus was my great grandmother. How are you related to him?
I would very intersted to know as we must be quite closely related,

We were Anglican also..... There are a number of Henry Elliott's in and around that area during that time frame.
