John Ellis, Wayne Co., NC to Telfair Co., GA 1773-1842

Hello. I'm searching for information on a family that moved from Wayne County, North Carolina to southeast Georgia shortly after 1800. John Ellis was born about 1770-1773 in that area. I understand that Wayne County wasn't formed until 1770. John was married around 1795 or 96, had a son born there, William, in 1797 and a daughter, Arminta, b. abt 1801 in South Carolina. The mother of these children died and John remarried in Georgia. I'm hoping that the Ellises mentioned in the Lancaster Family Bible might be this branch. I'm looking to extend John's branch back further, by determining who his father was. Any help or direction you can give me would be so appreciated.
Hezekiah Ellis of Henrico/Goochland VA

Hi! I was just looking at a number of Family Trees on Ancestry for Hezekiah Ellis, and I believe many have posted some incorrect information. Living in Henrico at the same time...also relatively the same age...were Hezekiah H Ellis, son of Caleb, and Hezekiah Ellis, son of James. Hezekiah (no middle initial) married Mary Brown. Many have Hezekiah H marrying Mary Brown. Hezekiah H married Eliza Jane Henley, not Mary Brown.

Hezekiah and Mary (Brown) Ellis had children Obediah, Robert, Elizabeth P, and John Henry. They also had two older daughters married/dead by the 1850 census.

I hope this helps to straighten things out. It's crazy how these Ellis brothers named their children the same names! Makes things quite crazy!
One son , Harvel or Harvey Parson Boggs born in Cherokee co, GA in abt 1848. Then daughters Rebecca and Elizabeth , Sarah, and Ella. Joseph and Catherin moved in 1860 to Gwinnett Co., GA. They are in the 1870 census in Rock Mills, Alabama
Ella married first John Smith and had daughter Rebecca and then married Forney Alfonso Ellis in Chambers Co., Alabama
They then moved to Jefferson Co. Alabama. Ella lived in Dolomite , Alabama when she died in 1929. Any information on these families would help. Very long standing brick wall.

Warren Plains, Warren County, North Carolina- Ellis

I've traced my Ellis side to a Toney Ellis who was possibly a slave in or around the Warren County, NC area and the closet I've come was a Toney Ellis in Wilson County that served in the 36th Regiment of the U. S. Colored Troops in the Civil War. Which, from talking to family, I've realized that I have the wrong Toney. My Toney Ellis was married to Nancy Ellis and they bore six boys named:
Charles b. 1842
Jerry b. 1852
Chas b. 1846
William b. 1859 (which is my great-grandfather)
The other two sons I'm quite sure of the years but if anyone has info, please contact me. Thanks.

Hello, I am the granddaughter of Riley Edward Ellis from Spalding County in Georgia. My mother was Clovis Louise Ellis. I know that we qualified for membership in the DAR and joined about forty years ago, but I don't know who has record of the family connection. I'm trying to find that out. I believe Riley Edward Ellis's parents were James Rousseau Ellis and Mary Louise Blanton. Any information would be appreciated. I live in Round Rock, Texas, near Austin. Thank you.

I would love to know more about any family on my fathers side. I have been told so many stories. From what I do know is that my grandmother was I think Margie Ellis before she married. The two men I have been told about that were possible husbands of hers was one Frank Evins and one George Wallis. I am sure I may have misspelt the name. While doing my research, I found the Ellis name.

Johan Jacob Alles (Ellis) - Birth Info?

I am interested in tracing Johan Jacob Alles (came to US in 1749 and had sons Jacob, Abraham, and Christopher with wife Elizabeth) back into Europe. Through this site I find lots of references to him coming from Nellmersbach Germany (with spelling of Ahles). However there seems to be a lot of inconsistency in the dates and no info on an Abraham Alles that was on the same ship. I also found a reference in the Ellis book by Foos of his being from Alsace.

Through the LDS Family Search Center I have the microfilm for Nellmersbach on indefinite loan at their local center. I am new to searching these kinds of records but have combed through them several times and am still getting stuck.

I have a number of baptism records for what may be him and his family but the dates, etc. don’t seem to add up. I want to be sure I am looking in the correct place. What I have found in the records:
1)	Johan Jacob Ahles – born 23 May 1696 – seems to be too early to be the right one. If he came over in 1749 that would put him at 53 which seems a bit old to come over and then raise a family at that time period. Would also make him around 89 when he died.
2)	Johan Ahles – born 15 Jan 1735 – seems to be to late. That would make him 14 when he came to USA.

What I have not found in the records:
1)	No other Johan Ahles variations (searched from 1718 or so through 1744).
2)	No Abraham Ahles. In fact from 1718 through 1744 only 3 children even named Abraham from that area and none with last name even close.
3)	No records for Elizabeth Mohr (or Moore) or any names even close from that area. However I have not yet searched the marriage records.

Anyone have any info they can share to help me out?

At one time in the late 60's/early 70's? managed a tire shop in Madison, SD, and I am guessing around 73 years old plus or minus. I would appreciate any information, this is a little more than research, he's my father and we've never met. Thanks, Dan Thompson

What was Carroll's wife's maiden name? The 1900 Census says "Eliza A.", and I believe she may be a sister of one of the people I am researching. "James C. Spiceland" listed in the household as nephew may be the son or very younger brother of Carroll's wife's sister, so she may be a Poole, Blanton, Kingins, or Sills.

I too am looking for the Ellis Clan. What made me reply are the names Jack and Matilda. My Grandfather is John "Jack" Edward Ellis and had a sister Matilda b. 1903 in Ohio. I am having a hard time locating more info on the family other than censuses. Father is known to be Stephen Ellis, wife Eleanor (Woods?)Ellis, children include Joseph b1889, Louis (Lewis) b.1891, Stephen Bryce b. 1893 John Edward b.1901, Matilda b. 1903, Frank b 1905, Mary Elizabeth b.1906 and Bertha b.1909...all in Niles or Youngstown Ohio. Orig spelling of name may have been Eles...the family was in the steel industry and at one time auto mechanics Ellis Garage...I cannot connect Stephen to Eleanor via marriage...both indicate birth place as Budapest...I hope this is the right connection. Please share what you may have if the connection is correct.

Thank you for posting your wonderful work on Bunnell. My Great-great-grandmother was Biddie Blevins.

If you would like to add to your work: she is buried in Deer Head Cove. My family was not very close, but she had 3 children that I am aware of: Edith 10/01/1903 - 08/04/1992 (married Arthel Whitehead), Hazel (married twice: Porter Newell. They had a daughter, Mary. Also married Ray Beach: they had a son, Gene), and Hugh Roden 06/11/1914-10/10/1989. Hugh was half brother to Edith. Hugh was married to Elizabeth 08/23/1917-11/1982. They had at least one son. Hazel, Porter, Ray and Gene have passed, as well.

Hazel is buried in a cemetary off 1-53 in Hixson, TN. She resided in East Ridge, TN. Edith and Arthel Whitehead are buried in Rossville, GA and lived in Chattanooga, TN. Arthel: 9/27/1912-05/04/2000

Edith had one daughter: Louise, who married Charles Gayton. Louise had 2 children. Louise and Charles lived in Fort Oglethrope, GA and have also passed.

Thank you! You have helped me link some pieces together in the Ellis side of my tree.

Do you remember the Ellis Family Tree book that was done about 15 or so years ago? It was very detailed. I saw it at my uncle Brad's house while visiting. It was interesting to me then but now that I am trying to create my own tree the book has disappeared.

I was researching some information about the Parker's and found out that there was a fort "Parker's Fort" about 40 miles east of Waco. I am going to try to visit it. Do you know how Fancy Pearl Parker was related to Cynthia Ann Parker? I am trying to see just how all of this ties into David Hugh Ellis.

I was at the Flint Cemetery on March 1st. I took pictures of some of the Ellis's headstones. I spent some time with Uncle Mack. He is a riot! Fizz wasn't feeling well and was not there.
