Hi Marisol,
I too am looking for information regarding the Elmore family in Peru.
My Great Great grandfather's name was Augustus Elmore.
Ihave found a ship's manifest for the "Monterey", sailing from Callou,Peru to Baltimore ,Md. in 1854. The only two passengers were an Augustus Elmore, age 15, and a Frederick Elmore, age 12.
I know that a Frederick Augustus Elmore who lived in Lima,Peru was married to Francis DeCordoba. One of their children, Eglantina, married into the British Peerage.
My g-grandmother's name was Eugenia Victoria Elmore, who married John George Crowe from England in Pennsylvania in the late 1800's. She had a brother,Albert Elmore who lived in Pa. and then I believe, Il. or Ind.. I have been unable to find my Elmore family in the US census prior to 1900, so I am wondering if perhaps they were living somewhere else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Ahhh okay, well I wish you luck on your search. I know several of the Elmore families from Iowa are somehow related, and there were some intermingling among the Elmores and Van Dorins in South Eastern Iowa areas.

Keep researching links and documents with a fine tooth comb. I am sure you will find something. I've been researching my Elmore side for several years and still am not done.

Who are the parents of Betty Elmore Featherstone?

For quite some time I had believed that Elizabeth "Betty" Elmore Featherstone was the daughter of James Elmore and Polly Elam. Upon reading the will of a James Elmore who died in 1852 in Jessamine County, Kentucky, I have serious doubts. The will does not mention Betty Featherstone, but does mention Sally Featherstone and her minor children, James and Sarah. My Betsey Featherstone of Franklin County, Kentucky, did not have children named James and Sarah; Sarah Featherstone of Owen County, Kentucky, did.

Elizabeth "Betty" Featherstone was born about 1795 in Virginia and married James E. Featherstone, son of Carolus Featherston,on 20 January 1815 in Charlotte County, Virginia. They moved to Fayette County, Kentucky, before 1820 then moved to Franklin County before 1830. She bore four children who survived her: William Epps, Lucy Ann, Margaret Jane, and Robert Wyatt Featherston. She died before the 1850 census.

Obviously, the James Elmore who died in Jessamine County in 1852 was not the father of Betty Elmore Featherston. She was also not a sister to Thomas Dudley Elmore, Rebeca Neal, Margaret Eudaly or Sally Featherston. Who were her parents?

My GGGrandfather was from Niangua Mo. He was married to Virginia Josephine McShane. I have been told the Elmore's came from Vermont. I have very little information on the Elmore side. Maybe we can make a match
Judy

I have 13 John's in my listings. By the name Effie, I have a hunch that we are of the same line of Elmore's. I will send you some of the notes I have stashed on my line and you might be able to gleen something of interest from them. My Elmores goes back to the 1700's. My line came from VA, KY on to Arkansas then to Oklahoma. Send me your e-mail address if your interested. Billieirene
