Hi, I was looking for more info on my Great Great Grandfather James Elsby. He was born in England in 1823 and married Jane Rounder in Indiana in 1855. They moved to Dallas in 1879. I'm trying to find out when he might have come over and who his parents were.

Hi

I responded before on my ancestry.com account, but this is my ancestry.co.uk account! My email is isobel dot hoy at ntlworld dot com.

I have tried to trace descendants of Andrew Elsby and Annie Robinson, but I didn't find evidence of Andrew Elsby (Jr) having children, so it's fun to know that he did! I'm interested to know what happened to him. I'd also be interested to know if you've got any photos of Annie Amelia (I haven't).

Have you seen Andrew Elsby Senior's Army records? They are now online at findmypast.co.uk - interesting stuff!

Looking forward to hearing more from you,

Isobel

I am Andrew William Elsby, the Grandson of Andrew William Elsby born 1877 (Mary Jane's brother) and the Great Grandson of the Andrew William Elsby born 1835. If you let me have your e mail address I shall send you what information I have on the family. There was someone on Ancestry when I was a member who had all sorts of information on the family but who did not repsond to attempts to make contact. I have traced Mary Jane to Carthage Street in Oldham but could not find any trace of marriage of Annie Elsby to William Ellis

Hi

Andrew William Elsby, born 1835, was my Great Great Grandfather. (His 2nd daughter Mary Jane was my Mum's favourite Grandma!) I've done some research on the family. Andrew Elsby senior died aged 48, leaving his wife Annie (nee Robinson) with 8 children under the age of 16. She quickly formed another relationship with William Ellis (I suppose there was little else she could do to provide for her family) but I have found no record of a marriage.

What do you know about the family?

Isobel

Hi, I just read your thread.

My late father's name was Joe. He had three brothers Peter,Tommy and Robert. also two sisters, Annie and Mary. There was another sister who died in childbirth I believe. I was named after my grandfather who, I was told, came to Scotland from Leigh, in Cheshire. His wife's maiden name was Butler, I think. Both sisters and my uncle Peter have passed away but Tommy and Robert are still alive although in their eighties.

If you feel there is a connection here please feel free to email me.

Hi,
I am trying to make a connection between Jane Rouner/Rounder who married James Elsby and the Stephenson family. I believe its possible that Jane Rounder's mother was the sister to Judge John Stephenson of Perry Co., Indiana. Do you know what Jane Rounder's parents names were?

Thanks,
Adrienne

Hi,
I expect that you have moved a long way from this name now, but i was wondering if you had found anything. My father died 3 years ago, but I do not have any contact with his family now. His name was Keith Elsby, born 1st April 1936, he was the youngest of the family. His mother was called Ann, and I think his father was called Stephen. He was born in the region of Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire. I would love to know if you think there are any links,
Hope to hear from you soon,
Laura
