In case this question has never been properly answererd , I am the grand daughter of Ulysess Grant Elswick . He did live and die on Caney Creek. He had sons named ; George, Dewey , John ,Chester, and Thomas .
Charles Elswick belongs to Tura Mae Elswick and Berry Branham. He had to go by Elswick because Tura Mae and Berry Branham weren't married and Berry didn't sighn papers saying he was the father.
There was no son named Dave .

I am looking for proof of Stephen Elswick's parents. Stephen Elswick b. 1774, d. abt. 1824 Campbell Co., TN., Married to Jerriday (Charity) Nestor.

Some have parents as John Elswick and Susan. Others have Jonathan Elswick and Milly Finch.

I have research Eileen Bennet's book, Archibald Thompson's Diary, letters for both George and Albert Elswick and the many family trees on Ancestry and Rootsweb.

I have found many different lines that include Stephen but no sources.

Jasper Newton Elswick was born Aug 1847 in West Virginia and died Sept 1927 in Roane Co. West Virginia. He is listed in the 1850, 60, 70, 80, 1900, & 1910 Census

Hi jlet37.

Unfortunately, the way Y-DNA works is it is passed only to males. Many individuals have found it possible to still join by researching the line further up...that is go up a few generations on the Elswick line and research males with the surname up to present. You can then test the living males and they'll have the same Y-DNA as your specific Elswick branch line.

What if there are no direct living males from my dad's side? I'm the eldest female of three children, two younger brothers deceased, and only living survivor except for a 95 year old relative living in the NW. My roots go back to the first John Elswick who arrived here from England in 1600's.

If you will contact me I have some information on the family, as I'm an Elswick by birth from this family line. I did extensive research while living in Portland in the late 1990's up to 2004, and prior to that in WA State. There are several living relatives in the area. John Riley Elswick, and Elizabeth Fletcher Elswick were my great grandparents, Clifford Elswick and Minta Commons Elswick were my grandparents. John Riley and Elizabeth are resting in cemeteries in the greater Olympia area. A 2nd cousin lives in Rochester, WA., a 1st in Vancouver, and an elderly aunt in the Portland area. My mother, Addie, was married to Joe Elswick from 1949 until his death in 1958. They had a daughter who lives next door to me.

I have information on Chester Elswick and Elsie Dove Jack ----They are my husband's great grandparents. They were married in Roane County West Virginia. I am trying to determine if Elsie was native American (Seneca/Iraquoi). I would appreciate any further info. on Elsie. She may have been adopted --born abt. 1880, reportedly in Jackson County West Virginia. I was not successful in finding records in Jackson County courthouse.

Joseph was the son of Wiley Elswick & Mary Polly Looney Wiley was the son of John Tike Elswick & Mary Polly Hackney.

Hello, my great grand mother was Josephine Elswick. she did have a twin sister name Dora and most of the family lived around Ironton and Kitts Hill, Lawrence co, Ohio. Josephine's father was either Herny or John Elswick not sure.

GLEN ROGERS — Jerry Ray Blankenship, 61, departed this life Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Bowers Hospice House surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born April 17, 1948, in Mullens, he was the son of the late John and Inez Elswick Blankenship.

Jerry loved spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lee Blankenship; and two sisters, Norma Sinecoff and Josephine Pearl Lafftery Bailey.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 35 years, Pansy Bailey Blankenship; a son, Billy Wayne Blankenship and wife, Marlena, of Milton; three brothers, Jim Blankenship, Henry Blankenship and wife, Barbara, and Johnny Blankenship and wife, Kathy, all of Glen Rogers; seven sisters, Ruby Cole of Fairdale, Maxine Lafferty and husband, Jimmy, of Glen Rogers, Pat Armstrong and husband, Roy, of Glen Rogers, Phyllis Lafferty of Sophia, Eleanor Lafferty and husband, Darrell, of Ravencliff, Marlene Tabor and husband, Stanley, of Glen Rogers and Darlene Lafferty and husband, Willis, of Glen Rogers; three grandchildren, Robert, Daniel and Cheyanne Blankenship, all of Milton; 41 nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Pinegrove Community Church with Rev. Kevin Francis officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest in Pinegrove Community Cemetery at Ravencliff.

Casketbearers will be family and friends.

Marion Elswick was born Dec/1905 In Kentucky & died 12th July 1934 in Pike County, Kentucky. He was shot by Tolby Bevins. Marion was married to Stella O'Reilly. Their son Thomas Marion Elswick was born July 27, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. Marion was also married to Daisy Lee Hale. I think her maiden name was Dye. Marion had a daughter born somewhere between 1930 and 1934. She is Thomas' half sister. I am trying to find any information on the Elswicks. Just came across this message. Not sure I help or hinder this. but I was looking for my family ties to Either Crazy Horse or Sitting Bull. Unfortunately that answer may have died with my great uncle Bert. That is Bert Elswick and yes he lived in Ohio. Louisville Ohio has many direct lines of this family geneaology. we are also tied to the Drakes(my mother and grandmother) and the McGaffney's(my father.) Stay in touch.

To be honest with you " Idon't know " , as far back as I know , by word of mouth , No proof , is that the Mariah Elswick in my Line is suppose to be the Daughter of Richard Elswick that Married Martha Brewer , and after fighting in the Civil War Richard settled in Lawerence County, ohio , and is Buried there , but like I said this comes to me by Word of Mouth I have No proof positive information on this , and from something that I heard from somebody else this may not be so . I am Sorry that I could not be of any real help to you , but I hope you have better luck with this Family Line than I have so far.

My grandfather John Jenkins had a sister named Marjorie who married a Paul Hensley. The Jenkins and Elswicks lived in Ohio. I know there is family in Pedro and Ironton. My grandmother (Johns wife) was Nora Elswick. She came from a very large family. I don't know the names of all of her sisters and brothers. I only know she had a twin sister named Dora and a sister named Josephine. From what I understand everyone was around the Lawrence County, Ohio area. Could there be any relation? I'm trying to find my family on my mothers side. I'd be very thankful for any help you can give me.

My Mother Mary Virginia Elswick Hackney Tanner was your father's Sister. Your father has a brother names Robert Elswick that still lives in Puttney West Virginia, Your fathers brothers were Hensley, Cas, Karmouth, Robert, Sisters Mary V ( died 12/24/1993) Sadie Belle Saunders(DEAD) Roberta Bird( Dead) I think there were a few more not sure.

Russel never had any other children but dad and dad's mom is Eva Dean Bartley they wasn't married or anything and dad was a embarrassment to the family, but dad's grandparents still was crazy about him and loved him but when they died the family didn't contact dad to tell him or anything but I remember Edgar Russel's brother and his wife Nell they didn't have children either. His grandparents was Freelan and Causby Charles Elswick I remember her she was so kind and good they were both from VA and dad was born in Pike County KY his name is Teddy Wayne Elswick dob 1951, I have two brothers Wayne Edward Elswick and Teddy Patrick Elswick and my name is Tina Lynn Elswick Hylton dob 1971 you are more than welcome to copy any info from my tree or any pics that I have if you want I can send you an invite. What were the names of your fathers brothers and sisters? Do know when and where Russel was born? What were the names, birth places, etc. of Russel's parents?
