I am Leigh Emanuelle Shane's father from previous post. Antoine was my great grandfather, one of his sons was Percival and one of Percival's sons was Lyle my father. As Shane said on Lyle's birth certificate the spelling of the name was changed from Emanuelli to Emanuelle. I have a copy of Antoine's death certificate which says he died in Mooroopna Base Hospital Shepparton Victoria Australia on 18th October 1944. The cause of death is given as Myocardial Degeneration. His death certificate names his wife as Emma Luckett and lists their children as Angelena 61 years, Laura 59, Albert 56, William 54, Celisma 50, Winifred 48, Percival 44 (my grandfather) and Arthur 40. The certificate lists his father as Antonie Emanuelli (??). I also have an obituary dated 10th October 1947 for Emma Jane Ashby where it states that six grandsons J, B, C and R Emanuelli, V Whitford and W Grozes were coffin bearers at her funeral. I also have Antoine's Application for Certificate of Naturalization for Australia where he states he arrived by ship from Marseille in October 1878. The application is accompanied by a statutory declaration where he states he was born on 7th September 1852 "at Corsica an Island on the South of France". He lists his occupation as a laborer. I also have 2 photographs of Antoine, one taken in 1937 showing him at the shack he lived in at St James near Rochester Victoria Australia. The other is Antoine with his son Percival (my grandfather).

Good to hear from everyone on this post. Do we know for sure that he was born in Propriano in Corsica? I know it was Corsica but have been unable to identify the village.

Hi everyone.

I'm Shane Emanuelle, great-great grandson of Antione. I'm living in Melbourne at the moment, but grew up in Warrnambool. My brother, Tim, and I also looking into our family background. My father is Leigh Emanuelle, son of Lyle Emanuelle, son of Percival Emanuelli.

Lyle (deceased) also has a brother (still alive), Fonce Emanuelli. We are unsure as to why our surname was changed, but Fonce (two years older than Lyle) had Emanuelli on his birth certificate, but Lyle has Emanuelle on his. They each go / went by their respective surmanes.

Fonce, living in Box Hill, has also done quite a bit of research on Antoine.
Any information on our ancestors from Corsica would be great news to hear. My brother and I would also be happy to meet up with anyone to about this also. After all, we're all one big family.

Great to hear about Propriano, and about the Percy's brothers and sisters. Good work.

Antione had 10 children:
5 girls and 5 boys.
I am a decendant of William Henry Emanuelli (5th child 2nd son)
Children as follows:
Angelina 1884-1959 married John Newey had 4 children
Laura 1886-1963 married Thomas Whitford had 10 children
Albert 1888-1960 married Laura Fox
Emma 1891-1903 died aged 11
William 1891-1978 married Alice Lavender had 8 children
Celestine 1893-1952 married Joseph Lloyd had 1 child
Thomas 1896-1903 died aged 7
Winnie 1897-1975 married John Williams
Percival 1900-1966 married Violet Bennett
Arthur 1902-1965 married Selina Cartasso

We also have copies of Antoine's Naturalization papers.
It seems that Laura the 2nd oldest married a Whitford and thats probably the connection you are talking about?
Emma and William were obviously twins. There are twins all through the family. Williams son also William had identical twin daughters (one of which is my mother.)

Hi, My name is Jenni Golding (Nee - Emanuelli)
I can tell you A J Emanuelli was my great grandfather,
One of his sons was Arthur Emanuelli and his son (my father)
was Ross Emanuelli. (both now Dec'd). I have four bothers
to carry on the name. I do not know any more about him except my brother holds A J's Australian Nationalisation/Citizenship Certificate. Should I be able to learn more I will let you know.
I do know we are realted to the Whitfords and down the line my husbands family are too.

Antoine Joseph Emanuelli is my Great-Great-Grandfather. It would be great to collaborate our trees and if you have any info on Antoine's ancestors that would be great.

can you tell me if you have any relatives that went to Hawwii in the 1800's? My grandfather was Paul Emanuelli-maybe two "m"s, but he lived in Hi. and was married to a "Mary" they had at least 4 children- Fred, Betty, Anne,and Merceds. My g-father is Fred,1910-1992 I believe he changed the name. please reply in eng. if possible...I have been searching a long time.
