Clarence Emer - Wisconsin

Weekly Home News/Home News (Spring Green, Sauk County, Wisconsin), December 1, 1921, page 1, column 6, obituary of Clarence Emer (son of Joseph E. Emer and Louise R. Buelow):

Excellent Young Man Dead
Clarence Emer died last Thursday evening, November 24th 1921, at 9 o'clock, at St. Mary's hospital, Madison. Death resulted from obstruction of the bowels, which followed an operation for appendicitis.
Clarence Emer was born in Spring Green May 4th, 1902. This village had always been his home and he graduated from our high school with the class of 1921.
His father, Joseph Emer, died August 31st, 1906, leaving the mother with two small children, Clarence and his sister Agnes. Mrs. Emer kept her children together and sent them to school. When Clarence became old enough to work he was never idle. Nights after school, Saturdays and vacations he always found work to do, and when he completed the high school course he was also trained for a man's job, becoming the main support of his mother and sister, a duty which he gladly and manfully assumed. For some time prior to his death he had been a faithful employe of the Wisconsin Cheese Producers' Federation, and it was while at his work that he was stricken with an acute attack of appendicitis. Following a couple of days' preparation for an operation, he was taken to Madison and apparently was making satisfactory progress toward recovery, when the complication, which caused his death, necessitated another operation.
The news of his death caused universal sorrow here. He was an exceptionally good young man, of irreproachable character, admired and respected by all who knew him. Always a perfect gentleman, industrious, without a bad habit, morally clean, holding a man's position. These facts tell his life history.
The funeral at St. John's Catholic church, Monday, was one of the largest ever held in the village. Rev. J.B. Brudermanns conducted the service and interment was made in St. John's cemetery. The schools were dismissed during the funeral hour and the pupils, with the members of the class of 1921, attended in a body.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Charles Linder, Mrs. William Fisher, Mrs. William McGrady, Chicago; Mrs. Gus. Lehmann, Elkhorn; Mr. and Mrs. August Buelow, Mrs. Charles Buelow and son Ed., Mr. and Mrs. John Kinsler, Loganville.

Card of Thanks.
We wish to thank the donors of the beautiful flowers and all other friends for the kindness and sympaty extended to us in our affliction
MRS. EMER AND DAUGHTER.
Emer Family

Frank Emer came to NY in 1910 from Russia. He married Fannie Geller, who also came from Russia.
They had a daughter, Anne, b 1916 and twin sons, Julius and Leon, b 1919,
Julius did not survive past 1919. The family moved to California during the 1940's.
I would like to learn when (for sure) Frank and Fannie arrived in NY, who their parents were, etc
and the name of the towns/villages they came from (other than near Odessa).

If you know about them, e-mail me at leonemer@fea.com
Thanks, Mary
