You probably already know that you have 6 weeks to record a birth and you can change the babies name within the first year and baptisms can take place at any time.

Regards,

Jackie

Jackie

Thanks for looking this up for me however it is not needed anymore. I found my mother's and her siblings births in Middlesbrough and have sent for and received thier birth certificates. My mom was born Sep 27, 1905. The entry you found could possibly be her however I am stymied by the middle initials as my mother carried none.

But thanks again.. Judi

I amhaving a hard time finding my grandfathers birth record. On the 1901 census it says he was born in Eastbourne. My father always thought he was born in Hastings which is nearby. I am wondering if he was born someplace around these areas and said Hastings or Eastbourne as the nearest big town. I cant find him on the 1881 census)There is a Henry on there but its not my Henry) Any ideas on how I can look into the parish records that are around this area.Or, if anyone has any other ideas that might help, I would really appreciate it. I live in the States.
Pauline

Swedish Engs of West Rock Township, MN

My name is Chris Summers and I am doing some research on the “Eng” branch of my family tree. My grandmother was Lydia (Eng) Thiry, who lived and died in Pine City Minnesota. Lydia was the 8th of 11 children born to Olaf and Christin Eng in West Rock Township, not far from Pine City and Rock Creek Township, Minnesota. According to my research, their children were Jennie, Fred, Peter, Robert, Carl, Lydia, Edward, George (who I remember going by Uncle Walter, his middle name) and Henry. It is my understanding that Jennie married a Canadian and moved to Canada long ago, and one of the brothers, possibly Robert or Carl, died in World War I. I have a book entitled the Swedes of West Rock which mentions the Eng’s and has some pictures of them. Olaf Eng was born in 1854 in Sweden and died on October 10, 1947 in St. Paul, MN and his wife, Christin was also born in Sweden in 1856 and died in Rush City, MN on November 29, 1941.

Any help would be appreciated

Chris Summers
Houston, TX

Smallpox Epidemic Yorkshire Vicinity abt. 1905

I am writing you from Washington State in the United States of America although I am formerly a Canadian resident.

The purpose for my message is that I am trying to research my mother's ancestory. She had always said that she was born in Yorkshire but we can find no record of this. I was told by my brother that her birth was never registered because she was born in the middle of a small box epidemic. We do not know exactly what year she was born or exactly where but she had shared with us before she died that she was about 7 when she sailed to Canada in 1912. My brother says that her sister had died during this epidemic but I am not sure this is true because I remember her telling me stories about her sister dying from eating a poisonous mushroom on the farm in Alberta. I do remember her saying that she (my mother) couldn't get smallpox because she had had cowpox.

The names etc of my family are as follows:

Mother Gwendolyn Little
Her brother Ramsey Little
Her sister Winnefred Little
Her mom Bertha (Stimpson) Little
Her dad John O. Little.

Ramsey was older than Gwendolyn and winnefred was younger.

Could anyone substantiate the existance of a small pox epidemic at that time and give me the years it occured. Please answer to my email address directly as I am not a member of this board.

My father, his sister and brothers were born in Salford. Some birth certificates say County of Bourough, Salford, others say Pendleton, Salford. As I have never been to England, I must say I am quite stupid when it comes to figuring out what's what. Is Manchester, for example, an equivalent to a state in the US? And would Pendleton be the county as in the states and Salford the city? I'm having great difficulty figuring out how to research without understanding this part.

Also, if any of the surnames mentioned about sound familiar to someone, please let me know.

I thank you for any help.
Kathy Wagner
USA

I am the granddaughter of Eng Fat Chong, immigant to Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada in 1949. Anyone with information regarding the circumstances of his immigration, or with news of the possible family (wife and son) he left behind in China would be much appreciated.

Eng Fat Chong remarried once here in Canada to Joan of Arc Page and had 18 children, all of which are scattered over the Toronto area now. He had a brother now known as Ken, and possibly several connections to China Town in Toronto, Ontario, as he had a vegetable shop there for several years.

Any assistance in piecing together his life or family history would be wonderful.

Regards,
J.
