Alexander England is listed in Winston County Historical records as a Cherokee Indian. Also the original cemetery he was buried in was for blacks or indians. A headstone was placed at Pine Torch Church but he was not buried there. There are also native american records in Texas of him and his children.

England and Wheeler families of Monroe Co Kentucky

Hello Listers,

I recently came across some information about the Wheeler and England families in Monroe Co. They lived there from the mid 1830’s to beyond 1870 and I am hoping that perhaps someone on the list might have some additional information to add to what I have learned.

My ggrandfather was Richard Wheeler, born 1837 in Monroe Co, the son of Lewis Wheeler and Rhody Gentry. I was given information recently that he might have been the natural father of Thomas B Wheeler b 1855, daughter of Nancy Creek (later married to Barton England). Richard left Monroe Co after 1860 and moved to Kansas, where he enlisted as a soldier in the Civil War. Two of Richard’s brothers – James and Simon married sisters to Barton England – Nancy and Melinda Jane. There were other connections to these families as well.

The information I was given recently suggested that the Wheeler and England families were not well liked in Monroe Co. There was also a suggestion that daughters or female descendants of Thomas B Wheeler were involved in witchcraft.

Does anyone have any information about these family stories? I recently sent an email to Dayton Birdwell in care of the Tompkinsville Library and asked if he knew anything about these stories, but I haven’t received a reply as yet.

Thanks for any help,

Colleen Lill
Canada
You've omitted three of their children from your list: Hardy Melton ENGLAND, Laura Millet ENGLAND and Charley G. ENGLAND.

Mike changed his name to Mike MUCKLEROY - reasons unknown. He also altered his date of birth, perhaps so that he wouldn't appear too young for his (2nd) wife. He died in 1949 and is buried in Masonic Memorial Park, Tumwater, Washington.

Hardy Melton ENGLAND was born 1881 in Texas. He married Carrie Dean BROWN in 1907 in Montana. California (his death certificate shows that he was born in 1885). He lived for a time in Canada.

George Barron ENGLAND was born in 1892 in Montana and died before 1949.

Hattie Stevens ENGLAND married Frank VALES circa 1915 but divorced before 1930.
pulling the death certificate was a good idea. Yes, Nancy Ann England was from Illinois. She was born in Macoupin County and I have her birth date as 5 Sept 1829 the daughter of the Reverend Samuel Sebird England and Mary Ann White. Nancy Ann married on 2 Sept 1847, Macoupin County, IL to John A. Crump. They are listed on the 1850 Macoupin Co. as John Crump (25), Nancy A Crump (20), Elisha A Crump (2), William Crump (6) and Mary A Crump (3 months). Note this page has another Nancy Crump who might be John's sister. Also, it shows Elisha (63) and Elenor (59) Crump living near so perhaps they are John's parents. I will post another listing concerning Rev. Sebird England's family to see if anyone else picks up on it. Be sure to look for this other posting.

YES! We have a link to Nancy England Crump! We pulled Emma M Dautel's Death Certificate, which was completed by Edna F. Hayes-Klipfel (b. in Longdale, Blaine, OK 1892) at the time of her death in 1939, she was 80. Emma's mother is listed as Nancy England, Emma's Birthplace is listed as Illinois. Father's Name and birthplace listed as Unknown. 3 or 4 of her living siblings at the time came to Beulah, CO to Emma's funeral from various states (CA, OK and I think IL) according to the obituary.

Found a rootsweb posting that listed Emma M. Crump Married an Unknown Dautel in 1877. But by the 1880 Census she was married to Thomas C. Nevins. In the 1900 and 1910 Census, I can find an "Edna" listed with them. Still need to figure out why Emma used the Dautel name at the time of her death and how she came to raise a girl with the last name Hayes..

I am looking for any information on Charles England, would have been born around 1925, unsure where he was born. He was possibly in the military and would have been in the Central Texas area in the early to mid 50's. He could have been stationed at James Connally AF Base or possibly even Killeen, Tx. The gentleman that I am looking for had a child out of wedlock in 1953 with a woman named Vera Casillas. He was told he was named after his father, Charles Bennett England but I have had no such luck finding any information on him. Charles (1953) is my father in law and never met his father and know one knows anything about him, they only person that knew anything took this information to her grave. If any of these dates, places or anything ring a bell, please get back with me. Would like to have some paternal ancestory history for my son.

I am tracing the lineage of my grandfather, Ernest Garvin England from Tompkinsville (Monroe County), KY. I remember him well and his death in 1961, and all of his children. I'm having great difficulty finding more info about his Mother. This is what (I think) I know: Her name was Queen Victoria (maiden name, possibly was 'James'). I know her Father's name was Sam James, and her Mother's name was (possibly Sinda Keith). I know she was also married several times and I found a record of one marriage (to George W. Plumlee). She died in 1951. Does anyone have any additional info about Queen Victoria (James)-England-Plumlee which you could share with me? Would greatly appreciate any clues. Thank you!

That is the Emma I refer to. Gr.Grandma Edna was either born in Kansas of OK. and on 1920 and 1930 CO census lists Emma M. Dautel as her mother. Edna says she is from Blaine, OK, Emma says she is from Illinois. I have the names of 4 siblings of Emma's who attended her funeral in 1939 in her obituary. We are actually trying to trace Edna's mother, but if Emma adopted, perhaps when OK was Indian Territory or in another state...I just dont know. If we can figure out Emma's story, I think it will help to unravel Edna's..

Thank you for your help. I think I replied to his post earlier. Because Emma Crump's father was John Crump, and Nancy England would be Emma's mother, so the cemetary would have her as a Crump.

Deanna

Kahkcg, so you know there is a R. L. [Richard?] England, 36 years old on the 1880 Census in Havana. His wife is listed as Martha E. 32 years and they have several girls. Above them is the following England family:

A. England 33,
Lotte M. England 35,
Charles R. England 11,
George H. England 7,
Lewis A. England 5,
Myrtie A. England 3, and
Lottie E. England 10 months old.

The "A. England" in this family was born in Tennessee. But the 'R.L.' (Richard) England who is husband to Martha shows parentage Illinois born. Errors often occur on these pages. I am curious about your Jones line. Who were the parents of Catherine?

Deanna, Are you referring to Emma Dautel born in 1858 and died 1939 and buried in Beulah Cemetery in Colorado? I want to be sure before I check my notes on this England line. I think this Crump line scattered after the death of John Crump. Are you certain Emma married to Nevins in 1888? I located Thomas C. Nevins and a woman named Emma M. living as a married couple in North Otter, Illinois on the 1880 Census. They have no children and had not married within the year of the census or so it shows that not marked.

Also, I you might be interested in this old post from a fellow named KC Caldwell back in 2004....

"Does anyone know what happen with John Crump's (1826-1871) wife after his death? I found Nancy and children Amanda, Alice, and Samuel living with John Turner and found a record of John and Nancy being married on 7/15/1879. I am a little confused becasue her tombstone reads Nancy Crump and a newspaper article about a family reunion in 1909 refers to her as Crump. -- KC Caldwell EMAIL: daddy.man@comcast.net"

Hello there JRE1955, I remember your post about the Havana, Illinois England line you did 7 Apr 2010. I am not familiar with this line but would like to help you considering I researched Central Illinois Englands for many years. I noticed Richard England on the 1880 Census living in Havana with his wife, listed as Martha and four girls.

One other question, are you searching for Gwen England? There is a Gwen E. England born 1916 died in 2004 on the Social Security Index. Her last benefit was sent to Georgia. However, this may be the same Gwendolyn England listed on the 1930 Census in West Virginia.

Hi Philip,
Thanks for the quick response. You have obviously been doing your homework well. I see that you have picked up on the Ledbury connection. That's where things look a little fuzzy to me, because Ledbury (the place of birth shown on a UK census for James England) is actually in Herefordshire. While Ledburn is in Buckinghamshire, much nearer to London and worth checking out. As a matter of interest did any of your England relatives ever live in the Deptford/Rotherhithe/ Bermondsey area of south east London (where all mine seem to have come from)?
Cheers,
Mike

I don't think this is the same family. Looks like your Englands came from Ledbury and I can't see any obvious to my England's around the Cromer coastal area.
Kind REgards - Philip

Would this be the family of James England, an ancestor of mine, who was born in Norfolk in 1790? He must have moved to the south east London area, where he married Elizabeth Jennings in 1816.They had 2 children James and Barbara Eleanor.

Hi Ann
Here goes:
William's parents were Jonas England DoB 1764, Oxlee, Hepworth, and Hannah Kaye (married 16 Jan 1792). William had a brother Joseph DoB 1795 and a sister, Sarah DoB 1793. Jonas died in 1798 and was buried at Holy Trinity Holmfirth. Jonas' father was John England, DoB 1733 and mother Martha Haigh, DoB 1735 (married Kirkburton All Hallows 30 Aug 1753, although it could have been Holy Trinity as records were often duplicated). John died Mar 1808 and is buried at Holy Trinity (I have been to look for graves from this period but only a few headstones were saved from the original graveyard and these are in the garden in the centre of Holmfirth and none of them are Englands). John was quite wealthy and I have a copy of his last will and testement. His other children were: Jonathan DoB 1752 (from whom I am descended), William DoB 1756, Hannah DoB 1759, George DoB 1761, Esther DoB 1762, Joseph DoB 1767, Mary (Mally) DoB 1769, Benjamin DoB 1773 and Sarah DoB abt 1776. Despite searching parish records I have been unable to find John's baptism or anyone further back than him. This suggests he was not born in the area and came in to find work, possibly from Lancashire.

Happy hunting!
Steve

I am working on a genealogy search on behalf of a great-grandson of Ruth Brasseal-Green and Alono A. Green. The information I have is that Ruth died giving birth to her third child (Vinnie Pearl Green) on Aug. 13, 1908, in Atoka, Oklahoma.
I am trying to find out Ruth's correct full maiden name, where she is buried, and any another information about her and her parents. Possibly she spelled her name as Brassael.

I have a 1826 Marriage bond for my 3rd great grandfather Lawrence Walker and Nancy England. Sadly Nancy filled the consent out herself and no relatives signed giving us an idea of which England family she was from. From her consent letter she must have been born a few years after 1800. This marriage took place in Louisa County Virginia. I see an earlier Nancy England from Goochland county which is adjacent to Louisa. If any of you have any idea which family to look at or would be interested in the marriage bond contact me at solarram99@isp.com. Nancy and Lawrence had 2 male offspring but Nancy was deceased before 1833 when Lawrence remarried.

Hello, this line interests me after seeing this family on the 1850 United States Federal Census in Havana, Illinois. George England is listed as 35 years old and his wife is listed as 23 years of age. I noticed on the 1920 Census for Havana that their son, Richard, is a Civil War veteran. The England line I research does hail from Tennessee but I am not familiar with this George and Elizabeth. Not sure if there is a connection or not. Might you have a death certificate for George England that would show the names of his parents?

Regarding Thomas J. England and Catherine Elizabeth Jones England who married Mar 11 1858 Morgan IL, this intrigues me very much because the England and Jones lines I research are from Morgan County. Do you have a marriage license for them? If you don't mind, I'd like to send you some information on the England and Jones lines from Morgan Co., IL. Please provide me with an email address.

Hi
You're a bit off on one of the branches of our family tree but you are on the same descendent level as me. Our common ancester is John England b1733, our great, great, great, great, great grandfather! Williams wife was Hannah Moss, b1793 in Kirkburton (probably actually Jackson Bridge but K/Btn was the Parish Church) and they were maried at Kirkburton 1 Sep 1817. William's father was Jonas England b1764 and he married Hannah Kaye on 16th Jan 1792 at Kirkburton Parish Church. Jonas' father was John England b1733 and this is as far back as I can find, and no one I have been in contact with has ever gone back before this. He married Martha Haigh 30 Aug 1753 again at Kirkburton. I do have a copy of his will which proves how his decendents fit in. John was quite affluent and owned quite a bit of land in the New Mill area and possibly also a colliery. Unfortunately I am no longer a member on Ancestryt but my tree is on GenesReunited. Always interested to be in contact with my relatives!
Steve

England Family - North Repps, Norfolk, England

Is anyone research the the England family who lived around North Repps in Nofolk in the early 1800's. I have traced the line back to Henry England (1776 - 1857) who married Judith Payne (1776 - 1855) in North Repps 1/11/1799 but have been unable to find Henry's parents. I believe he was born in Thorpe Market, Norfolk.

Greetings,
My great-great-grandfather was John England of Jackson Bridge, coal miner, born 1824 (probably 27.02.1824), married to Annis Woodcock. His parents were William and Hannah England born c.1793. Do you happen to know Hannah´s maiden name, as I´ve hit a dead end there? I would be grateful for any information.
