My father played baseball in the Spanish American Baseball league here in San Antonio, TX in 1923 at the age of thirteen. The president and founder of the league was a man named Eluterio Escobar. Dad continued playing in the same leage until 1975 when he himself became president of the same league. I closed the operation of the league in 2005 also as president. My great grandfather Jose Matias Escobar Rodriguez apparently was from Manati. His father was named Saturnino Escobar. I don't think it's a match because your family is from Aguadilla.

I believed he moved to the Bronx, NY before or after WW2, he married Maria Pinto....just trying to trace our ancestry and I see that you are all from Rio Grande. You are correct, he did live in the bronx and had two boys, one of them my father. But he also had two girls from a previous marriage. He is buried in Rio Grande in the old cemetary (El Viejo Cemeterio). I visited him a few weeks ago when i went to PR for vacation. This is gettig interesting, look forward to chatting with you.

Senen moved to Bronx New York before 1942. He died in March 1972 and was living in the Bronx when he died.

There are 4 cementaries listed for that area of the Bronx and they are:

Saint Anne's, Saint Raymond's (my grandparent's are buried in Saint Raymond's) Saint Peter's and Old West Farm cementary.

If you call them they may be able to tell you which one he is buried in and they can give you the names of any family listed as next of kin.

The 1910 census of PR has Juanito listed as a farmer, it could be he joined the ploice dept later on.

Juanito's wife was Antonia Hernadez de Rodriguez.
The children are: Antonio - born 1920
Juan - born 1922
Cesar - born 1928
I don't know if there are any more after Cesar.

My family's connection to Juanito is through my grandfather
Alejandro Escobar Rodriguez, and through my great grandfather Antonio Escobar Garcia. They are all from Guzman Abajo, Rio Grande. Maybe you can verify this with your family. Also, my great grandfather had a very large family. A total of 22 children between two wives. His first wife was Juana Rodriguez de Escobar. When Juana died he married Gervasia Villalongo. These two large families remained in Rio Grande and are still there. Some of them have moved on to la Ceramica in Carolina, PR.

I will try to reach you sometime this weekend.

Juanito or juan antonio my great grandfather was a police detective then a police chief. I am wondering if being a farmer was what he did later on. Uncle Angel, correct he was a retired judge. Do you know who his wife was and how many children they had? i just want to make sure if we are talking about the same family thats all. Would it be posiible to exchnage numbers? According to the 1910 census of PR, Juanito is listed as a "agricultor", a farmer, which means he also owned the farm. His home is listed as Bario: Pueblo

His oldest son, Agustin is listed as a "laborero de finca de cana", it doesn't say whether he worked for his father or for someone else.

Felicita is listed as a "modista", she sewed clothing, probably in her own house.

The three younger children; Angel, Seven and Ramona are listed as "estudiante escuela publica". Their ages were 17,16 and 15. In those days when kids went to high school, it was because the parents had the money to send them. So it seems that Juanito and Felicita were financially okay. As I stated previously, Angel went on to be a teacher, a warden in a jail and finally a municipal judge.

On the 1910 cenus of PR the name is spelled Severo, it may possibly be a misspelling. We assumed Severo was an apodo for Severiano.

But, it is the correct family. My father stayed in contact with this family throughout the years. My father has since passed away and I have no way to confirm the correct spelling.

The names I have are as follows:

Agustin Rodriguez y Escobar born: 1890
Angel Rodriguez y Escobar born: 1893
Severiano(Severo) Rodriguez y Escobar born: 1894
Ramona Rodriguez y Escobar born: 1895
Tomas Rodriguez y Escobar born: 1909

There were two young woman listed as living with them in the PR 1910 ceneus, their names were:

Carmen Burgos Y Escobar born: 1891
Maria Diaz y Robles born: 1893

Let me know if any of these names sound familiar, if they do we may be related. My grandfather's name was Alejandro Escobar Rodriguez. Juanito and Felicita were his aunt and uncle. My grandfather had 15 brothers and sisters. You may have a huge family you have never met.

Severo is the correct name. On the PR census of 1910 it looks like Senen, but it is Severo.

wow, thats them, my grandfather was Senen Rodriguez, Angels younger brother. I never me my uncle angel, i only spoke on the phone with him a couple of times and we use to write to each many years ago, I was 12 years old. Juanito and felicita i did hear of them, they are my great grand parents, we actually have an old photo of them. Juanito is a nickname right, for Juan antonio? Angel Rodriguez Escobar and Severo Rodriguez Escobar are brothers. Their parents were Juanito Rodriguez y Escobar and Felicita Escobar y Garcia from Pueblo, Rio Grande.

Juanito and Felicita were my great great aunt and uncle. Angel Rodriguez Escobar was my father's second cousin.

Angel Escobar Rodriguez was a teacher by age 26, a prison
warden by age 39 and when he retired he had been a municipal judge in Puerto Rico.

I had a great uncle, Antonio Escobar, that lived in La Paz, Baja CA. he died in the late 80's early 90's. He had a brother Esteban that died in 2000-2004 and his sister, my great grandmother, b. 1904 francisca escobar, she had her first daughter in Ensendada, Amparo Verdugo. My great-grandmother's name was Francisca Escobar born in 1904? in Baja, CA, her father was Juan Escobar, possibly from the Los Angeles, CA area. I don't know how big his family was but I know he had a son named Antonio Escobar of La Paz Baja CA and another son named Esteban Escobar who died in San Diego, CA between 2000-4. My entire Escobar family is from Rio Grande PR.
The towns they originate from are:
Guzman Abajo, Guzman Arriba, Zarzal and Pueblo. There are several Agustin Escobar's in my family. I would need more info in order to tell you if your Agustin is any realtion to me. Other surnames in my family include Rodriguez, Garcia, Diaz, Trujillo, Cedres, and Villalongo. If any of these names sound familiar let me know.

Gloria there is Escobar On Juncos Urb. Valencia #1 one of them is Sol Escobar, Maritza Escobar, and she have another one name Soraida Escobar and 3 brothers they still in the same address when I went last week to PR. About the Robles related with then well unaware i was just their friend. and i am Robles, I fyou the time go around juncos and sked on valencia 1 for them every body knows then good family.

Escobar from juncos PR, Sol Escobar ,Maritza Escobar, Soraida Escobar good people they are from Valencia #1. Unaware if they have some kind of relation i am Robles and never be married to none of them. The Jimenez family i remember a family that live across the Escobar in valencia that he compose songs his name was julito but he died long time back but his family still there and he was a famous singer.So when you get the time go to juncos in valencia 1 and asked for this families people there are kind and will help you find them.
