This is Manny Espejo, my father Manolo E. Espejo was born 2/2/1906 in San Esteban, Ilocos Sur, Philippine Islands. I am trying to fill in the missing parts of my family on his side. I know that my grandfather's name was Luis Espejo and my grandmother's was Gregoria Egipto. If anyone should chance upon this note and could help in any way it would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to some positive responses.

Aloha Manny! I am Mirasol Espejo Sazzad now. Well about my father, Fruto Espejo he was also musically inclined and his 11 other siblings were also talented but never to their talents to a higher level... meaning it was always home based and that's why they loved the most. Singing for fun and for special occasions. Forgive me I am not a good writer... My Dad moved to Hawaii from Badoc, Ilocos Norte when he was 18 yrs old. He worked in the Plantation until he retired. I remember he and his barkadas would get together with their instruments and play music and sing all night long. He lived a good life. He passed away on July 1st 2000. I miss him very much. He was 88 yrs old. I wish he lived to be a 100 but he's been bedridden from a stroke for almost 8 yrs. We are blessed to have had him with us that long. His was the eldest in his family. All I know is that mostly all the Espejo's are so musically talented. Though none of us (my sisters and I) can play a single tune.. ha ha ha
So far as I know.. My Dad has relatives on the Big Island that I've never met. But from what it seems it's like we are all related. Hey. I know a Christine Espejo that I used to work with... she said she was from Ilocos Sur. very pretty lady with big eyes maybe she is a close relative to you? She's a nurse.. was married twice... and has a son now...
You take care now. Especially take care of your father. Can I ask you something. Did he ever layed his hand on you when you needed scoldings? My father never spanked us..he said his father never did either.. So
maybe it's a family thing.. which is good for us!! You have a Wonderful New Years!!!!
Write soon okey...

Mirasol

Espejo Surname - Ilocus Sur

Hello Mirasol....

My father (Manolo Espejo) is from Ilocus Sur. His father was a farmer there. My father migrated to the US (New York City via San Francisco) in the early 1920's along with several of his brothers who were all musicians and wanted to play their music in the US. My father played the saxophone and piano and was employed in several New York clubs including the famous Stork Club. His musical career was short-lived and he became a waiter and also in later years was a barber. He moved to Salinas California in the 1960's and now lives in here in Michigan. He is the only surviving sibling of his family....he just turned 94. I am very interested in finding more information about the Espejo name. Hope to hear from you!

Espejo

My greart-great-grandfather was Pedro Espejo, General of the Mexican Army and Govenor of the State of Sinaloa, Sonora and Baja California. This was during the 1860. He died in Mexico and his wife and children went to California. I have a large portrait of him. We have very little of his parents.

The family stories handed down to me tell of his great - **** - great grandfather coming from Spain with Cortez in the 1500's and was a high ranking officer in the army. We have not been able to document this.

Also family stories connect us up with Antonio de Espejo, Spanish explorer that left Mexico City and went north the soliders and priest. He efforts went in to what is now west Texas and New Mexico. He set up settlements which are now the major cites of New Mexico. We have an account of we have and it ocured in 1580.

Hope this helps.

Hello. My name is Mirasol Espejo. My father was originally from Badoc,Ilocos Norte. Then he became a plantation worker since he was 18 yrs old and has made Oahu, HI his home. He was the eldest of 13 siblings. He recently passed this July 1st, 2000. He would have been 88 yrs old. He also has relatives on the Big Island. From what I know is that lots of Espejo's are from Ilocos Norte and I've met another Espejo from Ilocos Sur where I formerly worked. They say Espejo's are famous singers and love music in the Philippines. My father especially loved to play guitar. His sisters were very talented singers.
